I have been to the Astoria and Jackson Heights locations multiple times, and I can attest both are solid 5/5s.
When I go to Arepa Lady, I typically indulge myself with an arepa de queso (I usually get mixed- chorizo, carne asada, pollo). The meat is always perfectly cooked, seasoned and is as juicy as one could ask. The arepa itself is always perfectly done, crisp on the outside and warm & cheesy on the inside. I can easily say the arepa de queso from Arepa Lady is my single favorite meal in New York City.
In addition to the arepas, the sides I've tried (maduros & tostones) are consistently great! The maduros are always ripe, a little crispy on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside. I have NEVER gotten an under ripe or dry maduro from Arepa Lady. The tostones are also perfectly done- no notes, just delicious.
If you are looking for an amazing flan, then look no further! Arepa Lady doesn't just excel in arepas, their flan is also the very best in New York City. The flan is perfectly sweetened with a perfect soft, yet firm consistency. I rarely pass on dessert at Arepa Lady.
The service at Arepa Lady is always fast and friendly (at both Jackson Heights and Astoria locations).
The only deciding factor in which location in Queens to go to depends on the vibe you are looking for. If you are looking for a cozy vibe, go to the Jackson Heights location. If you want a modern vibe with a bar and televisions, go to the Astoria location.
Bonus: The Astoria Arepa Lady also has a $35 per person bottomless brunch. I challenge you to find a better deal for both the quality of food and sangria!
