From the moment I entered reception I got this awful smell of cleaning fluids which I think had been used to cover the other awful smell we experienced in our room. You could taste the horrible smells in your mouth. They were so strong. |The hotel is just outside the walls in what seems a very rough area. There was screaming in the street from 4 oclock in the morning, and we saw a physical fight in the apartment across from the hotel which then moved down into the street and one person was chasing another and hitting him with an iron bar. Obviously this is not the hotels fault but it was very disturbing and we didn’t get any sleep. |On the plus side everything was very clean but the smell in the place made me feel sick.

Good location, only minutes to walk into the old town.|The hotel was very nice with excellent attention to detail. The bedroom and breakfast room was charming. There was a good choice of food at breakfast and the tv room housed tea/coffee making facilities, with pastries and biscuits. No hesitation in recommending this hotel

An update as I was here a year ago. I was in a different room this year and it was a better shape for two people but not as pretty as last year’s. There was a table and chairs and room to spread out. The bathroom could do with updating, especially the bath and shower but everything was clean. The small bottle of water in the room is still in a plastic bottle. There are three charging points in the room. The walls in the room are thin so care is needed to not disturb or be disturbed by neighbours. I travel with earplugs. My room looked over the car park and ramparts and the corner of some apartments but it’s not too noisy. There’s a lounge on the first floor with water, coffee and pastries as well as a lounge and gift shop on the ground floor. The hotel is close to Plaza Mayor with shops and restaurants.

We spent the night here and the hotel is very nice with a huge bed and excellent breakfast. It is also great price/quality ratio. We paid 74 per night. There is a free parking right in front or pay extra 12 for indoor parking.

About a month ago, my wife and I spent several day at this hotel, It was a wonderful experience, perhaps the best lodging place of our 21 day journey in Spain.||Our room was charming and of a good size, everything was very modern and functional, and the service we received could not have been better. The location is perfect, just a few blocks away from Plaza Mayor, and within walking distance of many site.||The breakfast room and buffet were particularly good. All ingredients were high quality, and the setting was elegant and high class. ||We were particularly pleased with the help the staff gave us by lending us an ice bucket and wine glasses to enjoy a glass of wine in the evenings. Their eating recommendations were right on.||We wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Zamora. It is difficult to imagine anyone could find better accommodations.

The hotel bedroom was very nicely decorated, although if I had to share the bed it would have been a little cramped as the room was quite narrow. The bathroom was small but perfectly formed. There is a plastic bottle of water per person in the room. No tea or coffee maker in the room but there is an upstairs snack room where you can help yourself to hot and cold drinks as well as pastries throughout the day. I have heard of lodgers using kettles to cook soup or milk in some establishments which damages kettles and is a safety concern so that’s a good idea.|The staff were very helpful during my stay with directions and restaurant recommendations. I’d say the main Plaza is a little more than 8 minutes away as some reviewers mentioned, more like 10 minutes if you don’t know your way around. Breakfast was nice and I found the choice adequate. There’s a supermarket just around the corner which is very handy. It’s also twenty minutes from the railway station on foot. There are lots of monuments and churches in Zamora and nature trails too.

Started the Camino from here. Excellent hotel with Comfortable rooms located just outside the old city walls. Bike storage provided in a secured room with outlets to charge batteries. Breakfast was fantastic with meats, cheeses, fruits and mountains of freshly baked pastries. Eggs and sausage also available. They were incredibly kind. Highly recommended.

The Ares Hotel is in a central location and we found the hotel with no difficulty. Previous reviewers have suggested that there is plenty of street parking around the hotel, but I would disagree. All the public parking in front of the hotel was full when we arrived, as were the side streets, and I was glad that I had booked a parking space in the hotel garage which is just round the corner. ||||Although the hotel looks decidedly plain from the outside, the interior is smart and charming, as was the young lady on reception. Our room (301) was spacious and very nicely decorated and furnished. The en-suite was also very smart and all necessary toiletries were provided, including a razor and two toothbrushes with toothpaste - what a thoughtful touch. We also had lovely big, fluffy towels and dressing gowns.||||The hotel also has a lounge area where guests can help themselves to coffees etc. Breakfast was served in this charming room and featured an excellent selection of fresh fruit, yogurt etc, cold meats, cheeses and various pastries and cakes.||||In summary, everything about this hotel has been top class and we will certainly use it again.
