For going to a place with cows, this place is not smelly. The cows seem to be taken well care of. The staff is around regularly cleaning and grooming the ladies. The ladies are friendly, but may nose you or lick you unexpectedly. A lovely diversion on our day. Not super close to the restaurant and dairy stands in Bantam, but close enough.

These cows are gentle giants, at about 1500 lbs, interesting, and the personnel there are, of course, highly knowledgeable. My 6 year old was a perfect age to both learn and enjoy.

Arethusa Farm is a great place to visit with small children. The farm features at least three different kinds of cows, and friendly Arethusa employees are available to answer questions during open barn days (check when the barn is open before you go). Make sure you visit the dairy store 10 minutes away after visiting the farm!

I can’t speak on how good the physical farm is, I’ve heard good things though. What I can say is that their chocolate milk is absolutely bangin’. Really good stuff!!

The cows aren’t here anymore since apparently they were sold a few years ago, but the grounds is quite pretty.

First visit in New Haven, sour cherry ice cream was amazing as was a friend’s pistachio. I will return often.

Yelp
I probably come here too much since it's so close to me! Just know that folks travel from all over CT to try the amazing ice cream and cheeses all made from milk from local cows. It couldn't be any creamier or delicious! I grabbed some cheese to have with wine later in the day and already looking forward to it.

Yelp
We moved from Scarsdale, Ny to CT and were looking for culinary experiences. Well, we did find Arethusa. Excellent food, service and ambiance. This place makes any meal a special occasionit is hard to get in but if you do make your next reservation right there!

Yelp
We have been eating Arethusa food, products, ice cream and at their restaurants for years so we finally decided it was time to meet the ladies and see the farm which where the food comes from. We were NOT disappointed. It was beautiful, well taken care of and the ladies were brilliant you can tell the care and love that has been poured on them. The faculty, the people and how clean it was. For a good time and beautiful open barn go see this farm and support local food and people like this that treat our animals with love and respect how they should be!!

Yelp
We owe all the amazing dishes and ice cream to this farm! It's done an amazing job. It's also a beautiful drive to Litchfield.
