I only came through to see a bit of history. Enjoy the old magnificent architecture. Plus enjoy the beautiful Piriopolis beach. Probably wouldn’t stay here because the place does need a Reno. The Argentino Hotel took me back in time to a beautiful era of once was a magical time in history.

Very Bad, this hotel should be fined for misleading the clients, this is a NO STAR Hotel, look at the pictures. No AC. We were a party of 4 adults each of us with one room and after seeing the rooms we searched for another hotel and left immediately. Each room cost 190$USD. The authorities are not protecting the clients. The reviews that say it’s a good hotel are not sincere.

Big hotel building, lobby entrance is nice. Rooms are very old, no isolated walks and windows. Bathroom is out dated. Restaurant breakfast and lunch is durable. Only WiFi available in the lobby not available in the rooms. There are better hotels as it is very out dated. It’s next to the boulevard, sea view is excellent.

This hotel used to be a big deal 100 years ago, it's still a decent hotel, but far from modern and visibly falling apart on the outside. You can see that a lot of effort went into constructing the hotel 100 years ago, but the rooms lack basic things like accessible plugs for charging (we pulled out the TV and connected a charger there). The TV was a small antiquated CRT model that probably wouldn't satisfy anybody nowadays, but we didn't need the TV anyway.||It's a hard choice between giving it 3 or 4 stars, but the personnel were nice, so it's tipping to the 4 stars.

The hotel has seen better days. It is apparently under restoration at present -- the public areas and the view are wonderful. But the rooms need a lot of work. Stained carpets, peeling paint, and quirky plumbing are the norm. (I spoke to several other members of our group). My room's telephone was ripped from the wall; I mentioned this to the front desk but they didn't fix. One of the windows wouldn't open. I also mentioned this to the front desk, and they also didn't fix it. Fortunately a storm blew it open so I had good ventilation (no air conditioning). Electrical outlets are few and inconvenient. Wifi is free but very unreliable. Enjoy the view.

We live part time in Montevideo and have visited Piriapolis several times but have never stayed here. We have often driven past Argentino Hotel and thought it would be great fun to stay in what appeared to be a gem of a property. ||So, we chose a beautiful weekend, made a reservation drove to Piriapolis.||||The hotel reserves the perfect location on the Rambla and beach, a short walk from downtown. The facade is spectacular and is an architectural gem from the past. ||||They have great parking and an absolutely stunning lobby. ||Check-in was fast and courteous and we made our way onto the gated elevators.||to our room. We were surprised when we exited the elevator at the size of the hallways. They are 15 feet wide with large windows at the ends open to the sea breeze and rather dark due to the burnt-out ceiling fixtures. ||||We could not help but notice that the chipping paint on the walls, doors and trim was in serious need of repair. We entered our room, which was a nice size, to see the same state of repair, and ugly carpet that you would install in a storage room. ||||The room did have a wonderful view of the sea which was welcomed. ||The bathroom was also in need of some updating but we did not these||minor issues detract from the overall splendor of the hotel. ||||We decided to have dinner in the dining room and it was excellent. There was also live music and dancing. ||||The pools in the rear are very nice along with the huge grassy area with tables and chair for lounging and an efficient outdoor bar/restaurant. ||||The breakfast buffet was nice but nothing to cheer about. ||||We understood that the hotel is owned by the government and managed by a private group. It's obvious that the government does not want to allocate any capital to repair this once beautiful hotel. We hope that it can be revitalized similar to the Sofitel Hotel in Carrasco. This could be a 4-5 Star hotel if it was given the attention that it deserves.

First the summary: * Overall experience: extreme poor value for what you pay * Calling this a 4 star hotel just because of its “once upon a time” grandiosity is absurd. This is today a 2 star hotel at most. * I paid 695 dollars for 2 rooms for 3 nights. The Review: Firstly, the hotel's maintenance was severely lacking. The rooms were outdated and in dire need of renovation. The carpets were old and stained, the furniture was worn out, and the walls had cracks and peeling paint. The bathroom was moldy (see pictures of the black mold) and the shower had poor water pressure Shower-head was disintegrating. Hot water will gradually come after several minutes of letting it run (4-5m). Two small plastic shampoo and conditioner . Only a few small soap bars. Onto the beds. One room had two very narrow single beds and one had a single double bed. The bedsheets were stained. You get one pillow and it was lumpy and uncomfortable, making it difficult to get a good night's sleep. There is no Air conditioner in either of the rooms provided. I read later that there are some with AC at an extra cost. We left windows open and a noisy ceiling fan on. The mosquitos had a field day with us. The bathroom is a partition made inside the once large room which was clearly made with lower quality materials than the building itself and as mentioned moldy. No window or natural light or ventilation in the bathroom. One light fixture which was lacking the cover. The breakfast buffet was very disappointing. There were few choices available, and the food was of poor quality. Fruits consisted of some oranges, apples, green bananas and watermelon. There were a large amount of pastries but all the same or very similar type. Basically variations of unstuffed croissants. Only one type of tea. One big stainless pot of bad coffee and milk. To get a cappuccino you would have to pay extra. I didn’t try it given the bad quality of the rest of the food and I figured I wouldn’t throw more good money on bad value. Lastly, the overall atmosphere of the hotel was unpleasant. The pool was outdated and while at one point must have been good (as the rest of this building), clearly it was just maintained at the minimum for many years. In summary, I would not recommend the Argentino Hotel in Piriapolis, Uruguay. Perhaps it was great in 1930 when it was built but the lack of maintenance, outdated rooms, moldy bathrooms, stained bedsheets, and poor breakfast buffet made for an unpleasant experience. Where something was updated, it was done minimally and badly with low quality materials. I wonder where all the money they get at these room rates goes. Clearly not to update and maintain the building. This would be my first and last time at this hotel Update: I seen some excellent reviews which to me are very suspect. Any honest review will include pictures, detail descriptions and proof of an unbiased review.

Hotel is very historic and probably one of the better options in Piriapolis but it is just not up to modern standards of what of 3-4 star hotel should be. Having to type this review down the hallway from my room as there is virtually no wifi reception in room 323 (though a great seafront view) and the wifi is spotty throughout much of the hotel. Apparently no router on the entore 3rd floor? Not acceptible for those who need to stay connected in this day and age. Pools are great, best part of this property. Breakfast OK...but not enough options. Seems they are struggling to keep up to the standards of what is truly needed to be a top hotel in 2022/2023.
