The people running the place were really nice. Especially Mercedes during the booking process over the phone. The Building was nice and well located. 10 minute walking, mainly through a parc, you reached all relevant places. But overall the state of the Hostel was pretty chaotic and did not meet my expectations when looking at the room rate. Old beds. The reading light did not work, no remote control for the TV. We noticed it was fixed to the wall but not even have a plug somewhere near. We always had to ask for towels, the living room was a big mess and did not really invite to stay. There was much potential but unfortunately we concluded "just okay for one night". We had been at other places during our trip, providing better value for much lower rates.

The hostel is quite good regarding the price, the area is calm and there is a green area on the other side of the road.. It is an old building we here the cracking sound of the ground all the time it was bothering .. There are two kitchens where you can have all the tools you need, one of the kitchens was smelly🤢🤢🤢, the other one is ok it needs big cleaning...actually the whole hostel needs renovation The stuff were nice and lovely but not available all time they say from 10 am to 5 pm but sometimes we don't find them. The common area was sooo old and the tv was not working. Toilets and bathrooms were mixed ,in each floir we have 2 toilets and 2 bathrooms The wifi is not good, you can't use it if you are in the first floor I will give it 6/10 I liked the room but not the rest of the hostel

Had a great experience here! Nice people, kitchen has everything you could possibly need and the bathroom towels were regularly washed and replaced. The building is quite old with cracks and it creaks when someone walks around, but that adds to its personality!

Rooms are clean enough, beds are comfy and warm. Although we paid for a triple room and turned up into a double. Tried to call customer support and no answer. Went through booking.com and they had no answer. Fortunately we found a mattress to drag out and we had a sleeping bag. But no regards to customer service, no apologies for the mistake and no checking in to see if we wanted to change room. We would have gone elsewhere but there was no one to ask for a refund from. Won't be staying here again. Whilst it's cheap it's still an expensive way to sleep on the floor.

Staff was all very nice and helpful, the location is perfect and an easy walk to the royal mile. There's a great coffee/Breakfast spot just down the street and a grocery store the other way. An older building, but it was fine

Pros Excellent kitchen Good community vibe Homely like feel Garden area Hospitable staff My most enjoyable experience was cooking and sharing foods with others, or them having food shared with me. Cons The rooms felt very budget like. No curtains or personal light and if some money was spent on making it capsule like, more beds could have been fitted in with greater amenities which is a win for everyone involved including the owners. The upstairs room *10* had a bad smell which I assume comes from there being a leak above where the sink is * I told someone* A staff member explained this could be caused by someone using the shower incorrectly. However if the bathroom was tanked correctly no water should drop through to the floor below regardless of water dripping on to the floor. Underneath the bed it was dusty and that meant any bags that did go underneath got caked in dust. The bathrooms were in need of refurbishment with one tap labelled not to turn on and the rest of having a lukewarm temperature, with only the hot one being downstairs. Overall it was a great experience, but I have to be honest and wish this feedback is used constructively. I recommend a stay here regardless of my honest feedback as other hostels in Edinburgh looked like military camps for a similar price.

Just a 15-20 minute walk to the busy Old town of Edinburgh. Not much for shops nearby. Lovely meadow pathway across the road though. Close to the University. The hostel rooms and bathrooms were fairly sparse, but clean. The one shower was a bit broken but there are many bathrooms to choose from so not a big deal. Towels were 2£ extra. Sunroom and garden was quite lovely for a morning tea. Kitchen’s were a bit beat up by sitting water on the butcher block countertops so probably wouldn’t want to cook much there.

Cute place! The location was great, close to the university and to get further into town you just walk through the park, which was a really pretty stroll. Our TV could have used an update but other than that everything was clean and in working order. If you have big suitcases just be aware there is no lift. Staff was kind and helpful. The garden was a great place to sit and relax and we even saw some friendly cats wander through :)
