We stayed at this hotel for the second time — in fact, it was the very first time in all our travels across Europe that we ever returned to the same hotel. That alone says something. Sadly, this time our holiday was overshadowed, if not entirely ruined, by a deeply unpleasant incident. The hotel itself may not be fully responsible for what happened, but their reaction — or rather, their complete lack of empathy, support, or even basic courtesy — left us absolutely shocked.
Our car was parked in the hotel’s gated parking lot, supposedly a safe and secure place. At least that’s what we believed. Reality proved us wrong. One morning, we drove out to the nearby park for a hike. Hours later, we returned only to find our car damaged. Since the neighboring cars that had parked at the same time were still there, it was obvious the damage had occurred in the hotel’s own parking lot. We had even inspected and photographed the car beforehand — there was no doubt.
We called the hotel and asked them to check the security footage. They promised to call us back shortly. That call never came. Instead, we had to involve the police, wasting over two hours, after which we drove back to the hotel together with the officers. When the hotel administrator finally appeared, her words stunned us: the recordings wouldn’t be checked, “nothing is visible at night anyway,” and the police would need a court order to access any footage.
We were speechless. But what shocked us even more was the attitude. Not a word of comfort. Not a single “don’t worry, we’ll try to help.” No apology, no empathy, not even the most basic gesture of hospitality. We had spent the entire morning hiking, then two exhausting hours dealing with police — and the hotel couldn’t even offer us a seat, a glass of water, or a shred of human decency. Just cold indifference.
It was disgusting. Heartbreaking, really, considering this was a place we once trusted enough to return to. But never again. We will never come back here.
