Armagh City Hotel

Another lovely stay in the City Hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful-nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are spacious with really comfortable beds and a great shower/bathroom. Rooms are always very quiet so had a great sleep. Breakfast is excellent:top quality produce. Other reviews have said the decor in the public areas is a bit dated and I’d agree with that but overall, from its location, comfort and great staff, the decor doesn’t really detract from a lovely stay which is always great value. Highly recommend.

Attended an event here. Staff were friendly and really helpful. Room was spacious and very clean.||We had a meal for 14 people. The food and the service was excellent. I would especially like to mention Cornelia and Sarah in the restaurant who were very professional and made sure everything went to plan.||From event booking to check in to the meal I can honestly say everything was well above standard and I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Armagh or holding an event there.

Wow! Gorgeous hotel. Friendly, welcoming staff. We did the Friday Night Supper club, and it was 10/10! The food was the best we’ve ever had, and the staff were amazing, so attentive and polite. The restaurant manager deserves a raise, she is top class! We are staying for two nights and this is our review after just being here a couple of hours, incredible.

Down for the tribute night. From second arrived the place had a really nice vibe. Not corporate but rather welcoming relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Also good to see sufficient staff to be available on such a busy night. Always nice to be served swiftly and get back to the music. Couldn't fault the place at all.

It was my first time visiting Armagh, and i was so pleasantly surprised. I don't know what I was expecting, but arriving at the hotel was a great way to start it. I was warmly received, checkin was easy, and my room was modern, comfortable (a little warm for my taste, but easy to turn off the radiator). I stayed three nights, while in town for a music festival. Breakfast was fairly standard (the self-serve fried kind), but fine. The hotel has an attached conference center, and in addition to concerts for the music festival, there appeared to be other events happening there at the same time, though the only way you'd know was when you passed the open doors - there was no bleed-through of sound from one to the other, and plenty of room for everyone. Booking my room was easy online, but changing it was a little odd: they wouldn't do it over the phone, they said I had to email them. But that said, they did exactly what I asked (dropped a fourth night, close to the 48hour cancellation window), and changed my booking from two guests to one (which made a difference in the bed-and-breakfast rate), got it right first time, and sent me a confirmation by email within a couple of hours. All-in-all, 10/10 would recommend.

Armagh City Hotel is 5*****My Husband and I had an overnight break. The meal in the restaurant was absolutely gorgeous. The bedroom was beautiful clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. We had a really enjoyable stay. The Reception Housekeeping and Serving staff deserve praise for the excellent customer service. The evening entertainment was presented by Cher & Meatloaf tribute acts it was spectacular!!! If you want to visit the Armagh City Hotel you won't be disappointed. Thankyou.

First time in Armagh stayed in this hotel for the Hugo Duncan show in nearby theatre. Room spacious, tv with excellent channels, water bottles provided. Leisure centre with small pool but the jacuzzi and steam area was off when I was there. Excellent buffet breakfast with all the tasty options of ulster fry, perculated coffee was aweful though. Free spacious car parking and excellent WiFi. Will definitely stay here again. Dropped a point for not cleaning room when sign on door for ready for service and popping note under door saying unable to clean room.

Had a lovely stay in Armagh City Hotel. Stayed in room 224 which has a great view of both cathedrals and the city. Located right beside the demense which is gorgeous for a walk around. Loads of parking available. Great base for visiting the area. Staff were all lovely. Huge outdoor seating area. Good selection for breakfast.

I really think this hotel should be better than it is. I also think that it isn't a big ask to expect it to be much better either. It's been many years since we've been here because we found the food fairly poor. We had no reason to go back until we booked massages in the rented out spa there via a Groupon deal. We arrived early so we decided to have coffee. I wouldn't order food. So I ordered a flat white and a cappuccino (£4.80) and I say with certainty that what I had served up was not a flat white. Not even close. It was poor tasting too. This is what I mean about my recall of my experience in this place time and again. I was hoping for a great tasting coffee. I had paid for a great tasting coffee. I wanted to be impressed but yet again they really just confirmed my old memory offering the least effort, with little attention to detail yet the maximum charge. The service was haphazard and somewhat slow. I wasn't offered a loyalty card despite them sitting on the counter. Mind you this place is open a long time and the reception area was full of customers so they aren't short of trade. Maybe that's why they are complacent. Finally as my iPhone was near out of power I asked at reception for the loan of a charger. I explained that we were there for massages and would be there at least two hours. The friendly receptionist said she had just one so I had to leave my phone at reception to be charged; it was like handing over a limb. I didn't want to do it but if I hadn't done so I'd be left with a phone with no power. Not surprisingly we are very unlikely to return at all.

I've never stayed overnight in this hotel but have had a few meals here and Armagh City Hotel is ok - it serves good food and the wine's ok too. However I'm always slightly disappointed when I visit and I'm not fully sure why. It's all just very average really with nothing about the decor in the restaurant or bar, food, drink or service which would entice me to really recommend it to anyone. Passable but undistinguished I guess...

"Fantastic Weekend" We stayed at the Armagh City Hotel for an Irish Country dancing weekend and had a great stay. The room was a nice size for 2 people sharing and the staff at the front desk were fantastic and took great care of us during our stay. Will definitely return!

I have stayed at the Armagh City Hotel 4 times in my 6 trips to Ireland. There is no hotel as welcoming and warm as the Armagh City Hotel. Not only was the staff kind enough to provide great service, the staff took a general interest in each of the guests. My rugby team greatly appreciates the kind service and we look forward to our return! Guests are treated extremely well at this hotel which is why I am loyal to return! Odd place I cant put my finger on it exactly, we have tried here a couple of times, the restaurant down to your left as you come in is nice...and its great for free entertainment as it is a stop off point for tour buses filled with pensioners in for their dinner. Who is sitting beside who is always a big deal with these guys...you DARENT take a seat already occupied by a handbag as it is being "saved" for someone, so the large table turns into a racetrack for men on sticks all aiming to get a single seat... Anyway the food is good, well prepared and tasty, service can be a bit slow if they preparing for the blue rinse onslaught. The other part of the hotel provides a kind of buffet scenario with rock hard scones and slices of fruit cake that had seen better days..not that impressed really. If you go opt for the restaurant end the staff seem nicer, a few of the ones in the buffet end look like they did time (and thats just the women)
