Armagh City Hotel

Came here for an Irish Dance Competition last week and it was amazing. The staff were lovely and accomodating. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The surrounding area is very nice too as there are many shops nearby. The venue downstairs where the Competition was held was also very nice. It was spacious and meticulously clean. Will definitely return.

I'm absolutely appalled. I was due to stay in armagh city hotel from Friday the 17th of January to Monday the 19th of January whilst representing my county playing pool. I was shocked and disgusted to see a letter saying I was smoking or someone was smoking in the room and that I would be fined £80 for this. No one was smoking in the room, I then asked the operational manager Jonathan about the issue and he was immediately extremely rude and dismissive and continued ti say it was his word against mine, he said that I'd still be charged was unreasonable, unprofessional extremely condescending and antagonising. I was due to stay for an extra night and because of his behaviour I've felt that uncomfortable that I can no longer stay. I'm so upset and shocked at this treatment. I was so upset from this as I had enjoyed my stay in the hotel and found any other staff to be extremely helpful and polite I am so sad that an otherwise great weekend has been destroyed by the actions of this individual. And false accusations. When I asked for a refund he refused to give me it was again extremely rude and had no care for me or other friends of mine that were guests. So so so disappointing. I will never be back and I will advise as many others as possible to avoid||However I will say the rest of the staff where fantastic and Caroline in reception was very helpful. Perhaps a training course in customer service would be beneficial to Jonathan

Having been here umpteen times over the years was very disappointed in our last stay. I found when we don't book through the hotel we are put in rooms not as nice. Our carpet was dirty, the bathroom lock was broke, there was a butter knife under the bed and the history on the TV wasn't deleted which was inappropriate for children. Lunch and dinner in the bar was nothing special , our toasties weren't what we asked filled with peppers and mayo. Neither of these was mentioned in the menu. Some of the staff particularly the young girls very uninterested and walked past us lots of times before a man came to show us to our seats. Food very expensive and cocktails £11.00 ridiculous. The only positives was Molly on reception who was very pleasant. Breakfast was lovely apart from the toast machine which never works in all the times I have come here, time to get an upgrade I think! And a young man came to take our plates before we had finished. After this experience don't think I would return

The place was filthy and not professional, staff was very rude and ugly aswell as manipulative, I would never stay here again or recommend to anyone, not even my worse enemy deserves to stay in this mess. Never again!

Stayed with the NYE package, due to a busy evening we allowed additional time for food and drinks, no issues with quality of food or friendliness/helpfullness of waitress staff.||Bar staff ran out of a lot of stock around 10/10:30 on New Years Eve, resulting in not a lot of options and bar staff weren’t very helpful. Ordered a cocktail and didn’t resemble or taste anything similar to a pornstar martini.||Sleep quality was shockingly bad, other residents shouting and not in rooms or moving between rooms for over 1hr, security had to get involved and resulting in conversations and arguments outside our room to after 4am trying to get people to their room so got a total of around 3-4hrs sleep!||||Paid a lot to stay at this hotel and wouldn’t run back or recommend to others

Their receptionist, Molly, was extremely helpful and informative with my booking. I haven't even started my stay yet, only booked a few days ago by calling into reception. Molly exceeded my expectations and had a professional manner on the phone. My booking was easy, quick and stress-free. Lovely experience overall, and I am excited to stay!

lovely hotel, plenty of seating area's, Nice friendly welcome on arrival by reception staff. Arrived around 1pm so went into bar for a drink while we waited receptionist came in 30min later to say our room was ready. Room was lovey, clean and spacious ( room 223 ), only issues no shampoo or soap but after phoning reception they were brought up, also light out in bathroom ceiling. we originally booked for 1 night but decided to stay another night to make use of the pool area but found the next day it was restricted due to pool activities and also the hot tub was out of action ( bit disappointed ). Hotel staff were all very nice, food was lovely and overall we had a great couple of days. Receptionist on check out could have been more receptive, just took are keys and said thanks there was no chat on how our stay was| Overall we had a lovely stay and will be back so thanks to all the staff.

What an oddity. Really nice rooms. But the usual crappy changing rooms in the gym. Key card randomly stopped working as I'm here two nights. Go to reception. Card is fixed. Return later on, oh no wait it's not working. Update - that's two mornings I've had an early wake up by the lads performing maintenance on the 1st floor. No warnings and no apologies The food is very very poor. But it's a great location for work and the nearby city.

I really think this hotel should be better than it is. I also think that it isn't a big ask to expect it to be much better either. It's been many years since we've been here because we found the food fairly poor. We had no reason to go back until we booked massages in the rented out spa there via a Groupon deal. We arrived early so we decided to have coffee. I wouldn't order food. So I ordered a flat white and a cappuccino (£4.80) and I say with certainty that what I had served up was not a flat white. Not even close. It was poor tasting too. This is what I mean about my recall of my experience in this place time and again. I was hoping for a great tasting coffee. I had paid for a great tasting coffee. I wanted to be impressed but yet again they really just confirmed my old memory offering the least effort, with little attention to detail yet the maximum charge. The service was haphazard and somewhat slow. I wasn't offered a loyalty card despite them sitting on the counter. Mind you this place is open a long time and the reception area was full of customers so they aren't short of trade. Maybe that's why they are complacent. Finally as my iPhone was near out of power I asked at reception for the loan of a charger. I explained that we were there for massages and would be there at least two hours. The friendly receptionist said she had just one so I had to leave my phone at reception to be charged; it was like handing over a limb. I didn't want to do it but if I hadn't done so I'd be left with a phone with no power. Not surprisingly we are very unlikely to return at all.

I've never stayed overnight in this hotel but have had a few meals here and Armagh City Hotel is ok - it serves good food and the wine's ok too. However I'm always slightly disappointed when I visit and I'm not fully sure why. It's all just very average really with nothing about the decor in the restaurant or bar, food, drink or service which would entice me to really recommend it to anyone. Passable but undistinguished I guess...

"Fantastic Weekend" We stayed at the Armagh City Hotel for an Irish Country dancing weekend and had a great stay. The room was a nice size for 2 people sharing and the staff at the front desk were fantastic and took great care of us during our stay. Will definitely return!

I have stayed at the Armagh City Hotel 4 times in my 6 trips to Ireland. There is no hotel as welcoming and warm as the Armagh City Hotel. Not only was the staff kind enough to provide great service, the staff took a general interest in each of the guests. My rugby team greatly appreciates the kind service and we look forward to our return! Guests are treated extremely well at this hotel which is why I am loyal to return! Odd place I cant put my finger on it exactly, we have tried here a couple of times, the restaurant down to your left as you come in is nice...and its great for free entertainment as it is a stop off point for tour buses filled with pensioners in for their dinner. Who is sitting beside who is always a big deal with these guys...you DARENT take a seat already occupied by a handbag as it is being "saved" for someone, so the large table turns into a racetrack for men on sticks all aiming to get a single seat... Anyway the food is good, well prepared and tasty, service can be a bit slow if they preparing for the blue rinse onslaught. The other part of the hotel provides a kind of buffet scenario with rock hard scones and slices of fruit cake that had seen better days..not that impressed really. If you go opt for the restaurant end the staff seem nicer, a few of the ones in the buffet end look like they did time (and thats just the women)
