Another amazing stay at Armathwaite Hall. From the start the service received was outstanding. Was made to feel very welcome by the lovely (I think) Canadian woman on reception. Bar staff in the cocktail bar were also exceptional. Nothing was to much trouble, recommending drinks and taking the time to talk. |Had dinner in the grill and this was honestly one of the best plates of steak I've ever had. We had the sharing platter with a choice of sides and it was to die for. Highly recommend. Lake view room was stunning and overall a 10/10 experience.

We loved everything about our short stay here! The building itself has all the charm of a traditional English manor with beautiful original features. We had a beautiful lake view room on the 2nd floor with a private balcony. The room was spacious and well appointed. It was beautiful waking up to an astounding view of Lale Bassenthwaite! The bubbly and strawberries as a part of the Jubilant June offer was a nice touch. The restaurants have great food and even better service. We had breakfast in the conservatory with views of the lake, which was fantastic. The cocktail bar is classy and cosy. The spa facilities are impressive, and we used various thermal rooms. It was amazing to use the outdoor thermal infinity pool when it was raining in the evening. The gardens and the estate were magnificent, and it was lovely taking a stroll after breakfast on a Sunday morning. The service was fantastic, and overall, it was an excellent stay. I would definitely recommend this beautiful hotel!

Our second stay at the Armathwaite and we loved every second of it. All of the staff are so welcoming, accommodating and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. ||Our room was lovely, clean throughout with a super comfy king size bed, great shower, incredible views, and very quiet and peaceful. ||The Spa is incredible! Beautifully designed facilities and treatment rooms, the best I’ve experienced. All the therapists are welcoming, professional and engaging. As for the treatments themselves, simply AMAZING! Again the best I’ve experienced, and an incredible range to choose from. ||On this trip we sampled the food at their new Bar & Grill restaurant, which was so good we changed our dining bookings to this restaurant for the entire week’s stay. Every dish we sampled was cooked to perfection and tasted incredible. Chef Paul even came out to say hello giving us a chance to compliment him on his amazing cooking. The waiters/waitresses made our dining experience so special. Head waiter Guru really looked after us; we were made to feel like royalty every evening. Thank you so much Guru, Paulo, and chef Paul. ||You quickly realise when staying at the Armathwaite just why everything is so good and the staff are so accommodating and friendly. It’s because they all feel like one big happy family, and make you feel a part of it from the minute you arrive. This hotel should be a 5 star, it’s far better than 5 star hotels I’ve stayed at. ||Thank you Armathwaite for making our second stay with you an incredible one.

We celebrated my sisters 40th birthday for a family of 12 and we were not disappointed. We were give our own private area where we were looked after so well by all the staff. The food was delicious and they took real care facilitating all dietary requirements from allergies to vegan eaters too. All of us enjoyed it. The staff are a real credit to this place and they made it so special for us all. The views were breathtaking and the whole atmosphere was just wonderful. Thank you again. The beef was delicious. And thanks for the extra rolls of bread too Haha.

I have stayed here many times, and always enjoy the hotel and the location. However, this time was a little different. Fiona, who works on the desk, was absolutely incredible! She helped us with so many things, she truly did go over and beyond. This made our stay so much better than ever before, without her help it would have been quite different. I am very grateful to her. Liam, who we would see at breakfast was hard working and very professional. If you havent been here before, then don’t hesitate to book. You won’t be disappointed.

Beautiful hotel, it’s a bit of a shame the rooms and restaurant are a bit tired, we had a nice big room overlooking the lake but the furniture was flat pack and feel old fashioned. The bathroom was very basic. We had a few drinks in the bar overlooking the lake stunning setting. We were booked in the lake view restaurant but decided to move the booking to the grill and this was amazing, fantastic service really reasonable priced food and the food was excellent. We did want to try the spa but the dressing gowns in the rooms were so bad I would not be seen anywhere in one ! Hopefully it gets a refurbishment soon and it could be a stunning hotel.

Lovely Spa, But a Miserable Stay – Extremely Disappointed I booked this hotel as part of a birthday celebration and was really looking forward to it. While the spa was genuinely lovely and relaxing, everything else about the stay was a letdown. The biggest issue was the room. It was unbearably hot and humid all night – I couldn’t get to sleep until 5am, despite having a fan on the entire time. I later discovered the pillows were extremely hard, but by midnight it was too late to request a softer set. While I could have asked to change rooms, doing so in the middle of the night is far from ideal and should never be necessary. Adding to the frustration, this was an attic room – something the hotel failed to mention at check-in. It would have been helpful (and courteous) to be informed that these rooms are significantly warmer than others, especially during warmer months. I also dined at the grill restaurant, which was another disappointment. The food was mediocre at best – not what I expected from a hotel of this standard and certainly not fitting for a special occasion. I reported all of this to reception in the morning and explained how the poor sleep ruined the next day’s plans. They promised the manager would follow up – but over a week later, I’ve heard nothing. No apology, no gesture, no courtesy call. I expected much better. What should have been a relaxing and memorable birthday stay turned into the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. Extremely disappointed, and I would not return or recommend this hotel to others.

I am writing to give thanks for a fabulous visit to the hall hotel.|I was lucky enough to arrive on the day and be greeted by a wonderful welcome from the receptionist nyiah, I was blown away by her enthusiasm to explain the hotel to me and provide me with the best room, this is the kind of welcome you hope for everywhere you go! So professional! ||Shortly after I had a young man bayden from the restaurant deliver me strawberries and cream, he was extremely charming and upsold the restaurant to me for dinner which I throughly enjoyed that evening. The food was sublime! ||Check out was smooth and friendly.||I will most definitely be back!

Yelp
Second stay at the hotel. The grounds and views are gorgeous.. the hotel is an old and well staffed, very friendly . Rooms are nice beds are comfortable if a little on the firm side WiFi is free and works. The TV'S are dated poor signal and few channels (for when it's heavily raining ). Spa is great but often busy. Personally I'd skip the restaurant and head to keswick. Menu is dated and the food is ok, totally outdone by its surroundings. Ask for the lake view. Did i mention that the grounds are beautiful.

Yelp
An amazing old building and a high-quality hotel. It's set in the slightly quieter northern end of the Lake District, slightly away from many of the more touristy places -- although that adds quite a bit to your journey if you're coming from the south. But don't let that put you off: the peace and tranquility of the place means it's well worth the extra drive. The views over Bassenthwaite Lake from the restaurant and bar are absolutely outstanding, and I happened to visit in June when the long evenings meant you could enjoy the natural beauty of the place nearly all night. The food was very good and the rooms very comfortable. I stayed at the hotel as part of a conference so can't comment on whether the place offers good value or not (my employers paid!) -- but all in all Armathwaite Hall struck me as being a wonderful place to stay.
