Very relaxing and tranquil. Nice reception team. Garden room was comfortable and clean. We were unfortunate with the weather but plenty to do in the gym and spa. I enjoyed the meals I had in the grill and Lakeside dining. The prices are expensive but then you would expect that when you are experiencing such beautiful surroundings. The only slight niggle (which isn't a criticism just an observation) was that the service at the bar, for breakfast and the eateries was on the slow side, maybe this is all part of the glacial surroundings, I'm not sure. The staff worked very hard and are a credit but there just didn't seem to be enough people at times. The two ladies in the spa reception were helpful if a little robotic. There didn't seem to be a personal touch. You would see the same staff at breakfast who you would see at dinner and there was no connection with them at all. Which is a shame.

This hotel is an absolute gem. From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. The building is historic and it’s beautifully maintained, clean, and full of charm. The spa is relaxing and spotless, a true highlight of our stay. The hotel is incredibly pet-friendly, which made traveling with our dog so easy and enjoyable. The staff? Absolutely outstanding. Every single person we interacted with was warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming. You can tell they love what they do. The food was delicious. And the location couldn’t be better; quiet and peaceful, yet close to everything we needed. This place has it all: charm, comfort, service, and a truly welcoming atmosphere. We’ll definitely be coming back, and you should go too!

Had an amazing time at such a fantastic hotel which was due to the staff who I can say were such a lovely team. There wasn’t anything that they wouldn’t do for you. The room was also cleaned every day and spotless. Food is second to none!! A special shout out to Manoush, Liam, Vassy, Elana, Guru, Gotham, Pradip and lastly Saffy the cat!!! Sorry for spelling guys, I know some will be wrong! Thank you so much. We will be back next year.

we arrived to a 15% extra charge on the room apparently its in a email i didn't receive. The room was old stuffy and tired, paint is pealing from the bathroom ceiling ,tiles missing and dirty carpet. The fine dining experience was just that fine and massively over priced . We ordered room service our food took over a hour to arrive when it finally came it was stone cold and inedible. When we checked out i had to ask the lady to repeat herself because i didn't understand the bill she looked annoyed and obviously couldn't be bothered to explain . upside the hotel is a wonderful building and the location is second to none.

We had a lovely night away for my boyfriends 21st! We used the spa facilities and the staff were super friendly and gave us excellent service in the hydro pool. They made it extra special for his birthday which was a lovely touch! Beautiful setting , highly recommend☺️would definitely return!

We got married here in September 2025 and cannot fault the experience from start to finish. Throughout the whole planning process Lynsey and her team have been friendly, efficient and easily contactable! The wedding day itself was perfect and everything was exactly how we wanted. ||Secondly, the Grill restaurant has a selection of delicious meals and we would like to mention Guru who consistently made us feel welcome and provided impeccable service. We will be back! ||Finally, I had a treatment in the spa the day after the wedding and this was luxurious and relaxing. ||The hotel may be "expensive" but in my opinion it is excellent value for money and our many experiences have never disappointed us!

We have quite a few days and weekend spa days, this one is right up there as one of our best experiences. Stayed in the lovely Hartley tower suite, fabulous views from the roof terrace. Staff were lovely and very welcoming. Definitely recommend and we will be back.

We recently returned to Armathwaite Hall for a five-day engagement stay, and it was the most perfect and beautiful experience imaginable. It was here, just two weeks prior to our stay, that my now-fiancé surprised me with a proposal that I will cherish forever. A huge thank you goes to Louise, who was incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to set up our proposal area. She perfectly arranged the space with romantic touches, including roses, candlelit lanterns, and chilled champagne. I am so grateful for her assistance in making our special moment feel like a fairy tale. Our stay was absolutely magical, and we can't recommend Armathwaite Hall enough for anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion in a truly stunning location.

Yelp
Second stay at the hotel. The grounds and views are gorgeous.. the hotel is an old and well staffed, very friendly . Rooms are nice beds are comfortable if a little on the firm side WiFi is free and works. The TV'S are dated poor signal and few channels (for when it's heavily raining ). Spa is great but often busy. Personally I'd skip the restaurant and head to keswick. Menu is dated and the food is ok, totally outdone by its surroundings. Ask for the lake view. Did i mention that the grounds are beautiful.

Yelp
An amazing old building and a high-quality hotel. It's set in the slightly quieter northern end of the Lake District, slightly away from many of the more touristy places -- although that adds quite a bit to your journey if you're coming from the south. But don't let that put you off: the peace and tranquility of the place means it's well worth the extra drive. The views over Bassenthwaite Lake from the restaurant and bar are absolutely outstanding, and I happened to visit in June when the long evenings meant you could enjoy the natural beauty of the place nearly all night. The food was very good and the rooms very comfortable. I stayed at the hotel as part of a conference so can't comment on whether the place offers good value or not (my employers paid!) -- but all in all Armathwaite Hall struck me as being a wonderful place to stay.
