Armazém Cardosão

The atmosphere was great but since we didn’t have a table it was impossible to order good food. There is a window that you can order a few drinks and food but everything we order was cold and not good. It was so packed that we couldn’t really be close to the band but it was still a good time. The drinks we had were so good!

Great live music; Jazz on Tuesdays and samba on Thursdays. Cold beers and decent food. I'd be very happy to have this as my local.

Amazing jazz and vibe. Make sure you arrive early, the music ends at 10pm as not to disturb the neighbors.

Real neighborhood bar and restaurant. A gathering point of the whole neighborhood. Good food, great vibes and love music in most of the days. The street leads to a cul de sac. So it is a safe playing area for kids. So everyone brings their kids to play with other kids while the adults get a drink

Nice place. They have Jazz on Tuesday and samba on Thursday. You will most probably not find a table but you will be able to enjoy the typical Brasilian bar having some drinks outside. Bear in mind that music stops at 22:00 and the bar closes at 23:00

Great location with friendly staff and samba

This joint, known popularly as Armazém, dates back to 1907. Located in one of the most traditional Carioca neighborhood, well known for its samba and social mashup. It features great dishes, though served without fancy. Moqueca and feijoada (two different types of stews) stand out as its most sought for servings. Before the main course, fried dumplings and cod fish balls are a must.

This tucked away boteco was a real find on a hazy Saturday afternoon. My group and I hiked up the steep terrain in Laranjeiras to score some late afternoon feijoada. Once we made it up, we found Cardosão, a quaint and bustling neighborhood restaurant. The spot was busy, but not so much so that it took more than 10 minutes to score a table for 7. The menu is varied, but offers all the Brazilian staples you'd expect (and hope for) at a typical boteco. As tradition would have it, we ordered the feijoada and a few different shots of cachaça. This place has a great selection of the stuff, so be sure to experiment. Once our food arrived, we savored every bite of the perfectly prepared stew and washed it down with sips of beer. All in all, this place is spot-on when it comes to properly enjoying a weekend lunch and if you're lucky, you may even see a monkey or two making their way across the power lines.
