Armes de Champagne Hotel de Charme

A well-appointed and very comfortable hotel, easily accessible from the A26 and A4 autoroutes, located on the edge of Chalons-en-Champagne. Service at the hotel is excellent and all of the staff are friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and comfortable and had the quietest air-conditioning ever. The restaurant is very good indeed, with a very wide choice of dishes for each course. The food is inventive and delicious, and nicely presented and served. ||The hotel is an ideal stopover destination for one or two nights, or as a base for longer stays for touring in the area. It is highly recommended. Incidentally it is across the street from a spectacularly beautiful church!

A lovely find. Next door to the stunning Basilica. Friendly staff, excellent champagne (of course), and comfortable room. A stop off for us on a return from Provence. However, this is a future base to explore the region. Just a short journey from Chalons. We didn't get to try the restaurant as we had eaten earlier having been told the restaurant was fully booked.

We were turned away as a family with two young children due to an issue with our booking. We had originally booked a room for €210, yet the hotel insisted we pay an additional €95 per child plus €190 for an upgrade. Although they admitted a suite was available (which they had planned to give as a free upgrade to another guest), they refused to accommodate us unless we paid the exorbitant charges, and even denied us the option of dining at the hotel restaurant with our children. Overall, the staff were rude, unprofessional, and seemed intent on taking advantage of a young family. In the end, we left rather than allow ourselves to be exploited.

Probably one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in! Travelling with sister and brother in law, we looked for a hotel a few hours drive from Eurotunnel and happened upon Armes de Champagne owned and run by Nicholas Froment and Pascal Leromain. Everything has been so well thought out, rooms are quiet, extremely well kitted out (essential tea making equipment for us English!), super comfy beds and acres of pillows, dinner and breakfast delicious, lovely garden, staff delightful and always helpful and dogs welcome of course. Can’t recommend it enough.

I had a pleasant experience at this hotel. The beds and bedding were comfortable and the room was equipped with bathrobes and slippers. Although the spa and pool area were small, they were enjoyable and well-maintained. The staff were friendly and even offered us some croissants to take with us for the drive. Breakfast was well-organized, with a small but high-quality selection.||||The only minor downsides were that the hallway was a bit dark and some of the lighting in the rooms lacked a warm tone. Additionally, the rooms could be a bit brighter.||||

The manager was so rude when we checked out. Other negative reviews reference his attitude and his responses to these reviews say it all. Totally inflexible and petty. I wish I had read them before. ||It's a shame because everything else was nice and other staff were lovely, so I can see why the hotel has so many positive reviews - I guess these are people who haven't interacted with this man. But it's not worth it.

The hotel was perfect for our purposes, which was a stop over while driving from south to Calais, the surrounding countryside is pretty bleak so I'm not sure it's a destination hotel. That being said staff were friendly and breakfast was very good albeit a little expensive at €50 for two.

Stayed for one night whilst travelling back towards Calais. The reception staff were very helpful and attentive by promptly answering questions and checking on time of arrival to see if we needed to dine. Unfortunately, due to the long journey we did not get to eat in the restaurant but it looked lovely.||We had a suite and a twin room, both were well appointed with comfortable beds, great bathrooms and little extras which were appreciated. We had a nice view of the garden and the beautiful basilica - made us want to explore more. ||It’s a quirky little hotel that mixes traditional and modern. We would definitely stay again. We did find the breakfast a little expensive but did have a reduction for our youngest. ||Did not get to experience the pool/spa but great amenities to have on a stay. We appreciated the secure parking at the rear.
