My husband and I spent three nights here and we absolutely loved it. Very comfortable, clean and well supplied. Anita and Louis were very welcoming and hospitable. Thank you Anita for the plate of banana loaf and partridge berry loaf slices. Location was great.

I came to Armstrong’s after a particularly soggy night on the East Coast Trail. Anita and Louis took me in as they would an old friend and welcomed me into their home with coffee, fresh muffins, gingerbread, and breakfast sandwich for the next morning. Anita offered me lunch and warm conversation. She was so attentive to helping me find what I needed as a solo hiker with no transportation. The room was comfortable and clean. I particularly enjoyed the rocking chair in my downtime. I stayed a second night to avoid another soggy tent situation and Anita and Louis were just as kind and attentive, epitomizing Newfoundland hospitality. This is more than a place to stay; it is an experience. Will definitely return here the next time I come from away!

My daughter and I stayed here on Aug.3/22. The location was too far to walk from the East Coast Trail but Anita was there to pick us up when we completed the Mickeleens path in Witless Bay. She also stopped at a place for us to pick up some supper and a few supplies. She had baked some fresh muffins for our breakfast the next day and a pretty arrangement of fresh hydrangeas awaited us in our room on arrival. The beds were comfortable and the bath was much appreciated after a day of hiking. She let me do a load of laundry and drove us back to the trailhead in the morning. She was so kind hearted and a true example of the kindness we were experiencing with almost every Newfoundlander we met.

We came hiking through the rain to Witless Bay. In the tourist information they gave us the number of this accommodation. The stay was just perfect. We were picked up from the tourist information and driven to our accommodation. Anita welcomed us with selfmade bread, breakfast Muffins and gave us eggs for the next morning. We had a washmachine ( with detergent) and a dryer so we could wash all our clothes to be prepared for the rest of the East Coast Trail. As the price is really fair we decided to stay another night and make a boat tour in Bay Bulls. So we really recommend to stay here, and just ask for the possibility of being picked up...:-)

We walked through the door of our unit and found fresh muffins welcoming us. Our host Louis (of Armstrong;) showed us around, told us of local attractions, then let us settle in. We took a special price for three nights and found great value here. We had a full kitchen, bathroom, two beds and a pull out couch and a side patio to call our own. Not much for shoppers in nearby Witless Bay (drive up to Bay Bulls for more selection) but East Coast Trail network is at your doorstep. Serious hikers should get detailed trail maps before coming since trail head markings are not always evident from the highway.

We just love this spot, we arrived after six to find a note on the door telling us what room to take, key was left hanging inside our room. ||On the table their was a nice plate of fruit loaf and when we opened the frig we found a basket with cheese, eggs and English muffins for our first breakfast, coffee, sugar cream, salt pepper everything we needed.||Lou and Anita arrived about an hour later to make sure everything was satisfactory, no need to pay tonight get settled in and see you tomorrow.||Such a friendly home feeling, safe, quiet, very clean, great beds. I had a shoulder surgery the week before we arrived and asked if we could have extra pillow, their were plenty of extra pillows and they were so kind to ask if I needed anything else to make our stay more comfortable. They are awesome host, we highly recommend this place, Im sure you will love it.||Thank-you again Anita and Lou, If we get back again some day we will be sure to stay at your place.|| Regards Kay and Stew |||| .

On the last night of a whirlwind tour of Newfoundland, my children and I happened upon this lovely establishment. Clean, spacious, warm and welcoming. Close to everything yet far enough away for privacy. I only regret not coming here first and using it as our base. Our host was most accommodating and gave us great ideas of places to go. Highly, highly recommended.
