We booked the Arnalaya Beach House for our wedding and unfortunately, I feel compelled to share our disappointing experience to help others make an informed decision before spending a significant amount of money for minimal service.
Although daily breakfast was included for all our guests, the quantity of some items was surprisingly inadequate. While they did provide eggs, bacon, fruit, and noodles, only three small baked goods (one croissant and two chocolate croissants) were provided for 10 guests. It was honestly a bit embarrassing, with everyone awkwardly sharing small pieces because there simply wasn’t enough to go around.
Rooms were cleaned once a day, but used cups, empty bottles, and leftover food were left in the rooms unless we specifically asked staff to remove them.
To make matters worse, one of our guests had a serious fall into the pond near the entrance due to a broken light. It was unsafe and should have been addressed beforehand.
Another unexpected issue was that any coffees ordered — both during breakfast and throughout the day — were charged separately. This wasn’t clearly communicated to us, and we only realised when reviewing the final bill. We assumed basic coffee would be included, especially at breakfast.
At the end of our stay, we were charged an additional $600 AUD for food, beverages, and laundry:
• Food: $250 AUD
• Beverages: $185 AUD
• Laundry: $71 AUD
None of these items were included in the villa’s cost, and the charges felt unreasonably high for Bali. It felt like we were being charged at Australian rates.
Though the villa is beautiful and in a great location, after paying $25,000 AUD for a three-night stay, we didn’t expect to be charged extra for every little thing. I don’t usually write reviews, but I felt it was important to share our experience so others can make a more informed decision before booking.
