Arnside Chip Shop

Fish is perfect here, sweet & flakey haddock in a very crisp batter. Chips are fluffy on the inside & crunchy outside - portion is generous, but they do offer a lite-bite smaller size which is good to know! Lots of benches with scenic views, or sit in the car overlooking the estuary if it’s too cold to sit out…. It’s generally busy, but they are efficient and it’s worth the wait & a trip to Arnside for these fish & chips! Walk it all off on the beach - just perfect!

This is a seriously good chip shop! Right up there with the best and deserves the excellent reviews. Had to queue and wait a little while but the queue system was mega organised and the staff were great and super efficient. We had fish and chips for the adults and nuggets with chips for the kids and it was definitely worth waiting for. Piping hot, delicious, and a short stroll to the amazing beach/coastline to eat them with a wonderful view. A perfect place for a summer evening takeaway.

The good part : the food was hot. Fish was nice and crunchy. The bad parts : ordered 2 takeaway fish and chips at 6:10pm. Was told it will be 30 minutes as they are busy. I waited till 7:30pm, so 1 hour and 20 minutes wait time for 2 takeaway fish and chips. No apologies to anyone present for the waiting times. They were still taking orders even though it was visible they can't cope. My fish was definitely way smaller than others I've seen packed. It wasn't chunkier to say the weight was the same, just smaller size. At least keep it consistent for everyone. Would I recommend it ? Taste and texture wise, yes. The waiting times and fish size, no. Keep that in mind if you go here during busy times.

Fantastic fish , chips and mushy peas. Best I've had in a long time. We will 100% go back next time we are in the area. Good ordering system as well, order inside then queue outside, a screen tells you that your order is cooking then shows your ticket number when it's ready. Very busy but the whole place runs like clockwork and is immaculately clean. I asked about ingredients because of allergies (dairy and egg) and received the answer straight away, everyone knows what they are doing. Well done everyone. Definitely worth waiting for.

Lovely fish and chips. The service was great too. It was extremely busy, so order on the app with a time slot to collect otherwise you will be waiting a while.

Fantastic fish and chips, prepared fresh from scratch when you order. If ordering to go and not eating right away, a local we met in line suggested the lightly battered fish so it is still crispy on arrival. The advice was spot on. Overall, tasty food at good prices. Friendly staff and efficient service. Highly recommend.

Absolutely excellent fish & chips. Very friendly service. There is no cafe, just take away, but it was so good. Car park was flooded, it was a very wet day. street parking is mimimal.

These fish and chips were so good I forgot to take any photos 😬😬 Like most folks in the UK, we're very fussy about our fish and chips, especially the batter, which in this case was lovely and crispy and not sloppy or greasy. The curry sauce and coffee were lovely too. We sat in the car in the adjacent carpark, looking out on the evening view and the trains passing munching away. Our own utensils in pic. Excellent. Update We returned and I remembered to take pics before tucking in ... Well almost, partner beat me to it 😬

I can't wait for summer evening's to come and going here for tea. We always park in the car park. We have done this for many summer's as the kids were growing up. To be honest one portion of fish and chips are ample for myself and my better half. The fish is always piping hot, moist and delicious and of course the chips are exceptional. As my older two children have grown up, we just go with our youngest who always opts for the kids box and is always quite full after. I highly recommend Arnside Chip Shop for tea, especially with the long summer nights that will be coming our way.

Great fish and chips and fairly reasonably priced. Also jot far from the station, so great if you just fancy a day out by the seaside without the hustle and bustle of a seaside resort.

Was voted best "chippy" by Lakeland Radio in 2008 ..keeping up the standards and a good choice if your in the area.

Very good fish and chips. We were with someone who can't have gluten so the gluten free option was great! Cozy, entertaining atmosphere, as well.

They advertise themselves as probably the best chippy in the north. Last friday - a sunny summer evening, I waited 45 minutes - Ok I accept that. However the home of the BIG CHIP did not live up to expectation as some of the chips were that big they were not cooked right through. Sorry Arnside chippy I will not be using you again unless I hear of big improvements. On the plus side the staff at the till and servery were really nice and friendly but in my view let down by the end product
