Ordered the pulled pork burrito. It was about 70% mushy white rice, 10% beans, 10% cheese/sauce, 5% ham and 5% pulled pork. It was bland and had genuinely almost no pulled pork. The fact there was ham in the burrito goes to show what an abomination of a “pulled pork burrito” this was. Got a refund

Visited Aro Cafe today as it’s been a while since we have been there. Have to say it was absolutely lovely! The front of house lady was so helpful and friendly, the service was very quick, and the food was super yummy. My partner reckons the waffles are the best he has ever tasted, while I really enjoyed the chicken burrito and salad. And to top it off, lovely coffee! I think they have renovated the cafe too, as the chairs were really comfy, with nice tables and a new looking floor. Anyway it was a nice ambience. Thanks team!

Such a lovely and pretty cafe! Tables are clean and the space is tidy. Staff are friendly and helpful.
The cabinet has an extensive range including cakes, slices, sandwiches, burritos, salads, toasties, & more (NF/GF/DF/VEGAN options)
Ordered two Greens Benedict's from the menu (one Dairy free) and they were amazing, definitely recommend it! (Even substituted the hollandaise sauce for a yummy DF aioli).

The cafe is not central; it took a little walk through a rainy gray Wellington day to get there.
It was well worth it. Well cooked meals, good coffees and an easygoing atmosphere did the trick.
Recommended!

Best cafe in Aro street. A go to for me. Whereas I feel it would benefit by offering a wider selection of food, the food it does have is excellent and so is the service.
Being the best in the street does have the drawback of meaning often queues right out the door, but it is worth it. Especially as the alternative across the street is frankly subpar.
I particularly recommend the vegetarian lasagne

Yelp
This is a popular local cafe. People lucky enough to live nearby regularly enjoy the "village" atmosphere and the casual sophistication of the menu. It's great that it it is so close to the city, yet seems far enough away to be a good weekend spot. The coffee is good and meals are always satisfying - but they can take a while. I'm a particular fan of their brunch, plus their beautiful pear tart ... makes me keep coming back for more.

Yelp
Excellent coffee and friendly and efficient service. The breakfast and brunch are fantastic or if your in the mood for takeaways then try the sandwiches or the decadent cheese and rocket scone with a slab of butter. Dinner is great too - open just a few nights a week - I would rate some of those meals as amongst the best I've ever enjoyed. The dinner menu is ever changing but there seems an emphasis on Italian and there are always a few vegetarian options. Am pleased that this cafe is my local and that in addition to the great food the people are lovely too.

Yelp
I turned up at what was probably peak time for breakfast/brunch so my coffee took 15-20 minutes & my food 40-45 but the service was polite & friendly & all delays were communicated well.
My coffee was good as were my hot cakes (which although is called hot cakes on the menu turned out to be just the one cake haha).
Definitely check out Aro Cafe if you're in Wellington, it's a fun hub of delicious food & great staff.

Yelp
Art's review is spot on.
Aro Cafe offers a good breakfast/brunch menu and fabulous coffee. The poached and scrambled eggs were both very good, and the service was attentive. We were especially pleased that the servers made room for us on a busy Sunday morning.

Yelp
The coffee here is good. However, the real star was the pear tart, which is one of the best baked goods I've ever had. Nice atmosphere and stuff, too, including outdoor seating.

Yelp
Aro Cafe is a great wee eatery situated along Aro Street in Wellington.
It consistently serves the best coffee in the capital (their own blend) - friendly and attentive staff.
This matched with an awesome selection of counter food and a fab menu with lovely fresh seasonal options makes for a winning combination.
A must visit cafe when in Welly!

Yelp
Excellent breakfast and coffee. The poached eggs, hot cakes and muesli are high quality. Customer service is very attentive and the environment is comfortable.
