Arolithos Traditional Cretan Village

Unforgettable Family Day at Arolithos Traditional Village! On August 15th, we celebrated the Feast of the Assumption at the stunning Arolithos Traditional Village – and it was an unforgettable family experience! This magical place is like stepping into a living postcard: charming cobblestone lanes, stone-built houses, blooming courtyards, and the unmistakable warmth of authentic Crete. We savored mouthwatering lamb chops, a generous mixed grill platter for four, golden fried saganaki, and crispy zucchini – all made with fresh, local ingredients and bursting with flavor. After lunch, we enjoyed a refreshing swim in the impressively large, crystal-clear pool, perfect for guests of all ages. To top it all off, our wonderful hosts treated us to complimentary raki and fresh seasonal fruit – the perfect sweet ending to a perfect day. Giannis, Vangelis, and Michalis were truly exceptional hosts, making us feel like part of their family. Arolithos is more than just a destination; it’s a blend of tradition, taste, and genuine Cretan soul. A must-visit when in Heraklion!

We toured the village from our cruise ship and did not stay in any rooms. However, the experience was AMAZING! Beautiful and quaint village to walk around. Seeing the 'museum rooms' was so fun and enlightening. The food they served us for lunch was so fresh and tasty! The dancers were great. I joined them even though it was 98 degrees.

We just came for a week and I can say this is one of the best places I have ever visited. The staff were friendly and accommodating, the pool was cool and refreshing and the hotel was stunning. We didn't want to leave! thank you making our much needed holiday amazing! thank you to you all again!

A beautiful cretan village with amazing activities and beautiful museum of old cretan rooms .I was very impressed of the resembles with other European south est old villages. I visited Arolithos every year I have a holiday in Amoudara,relax to the pool and enjoy the traditional cretan food. This year I was very disappointed that I couldn't find there Cristina. I asked for her. She was amazing in all she was doing for the guests. It was a pleasure to see her every year!!!Hope she will be back. Arolithos is not the same without her.

It’s a very lovely place. If you don’t want to live directly in the city that’s the perfect alternative. The breakfast is incredible and it’s very charming everywhere. The view is amazing und you get everywhere really fast. But you will need a car.

My wife and I recently took a NCL cruise of Greece, and Turkey, and our tour of this lovely ancient village was the absolute highlight of our entire vacation!!!!!

I don't have the right words for this place. It's everything you imagine from a Cretan village and more. An absolutely amazing location, great staff and a fantastic place to have the most beautiful wedding imaginable. The whole place is gorgeous.

The rooms are furnished in typical Greek style. The rooms are equipped with new towels every day. As our room was not directly at the reception, we hardly noticed any of the parties at night. It would have been better if the staff had given notice or hung something out so that the hotel guests would know. When we had dinner while there was a party, it was always very amusing and nice to watch. The staff is very polite, courteous and friendly. For breakfast there is a small buffet and fruit and meat platters are served extra. The food was delicious and also typical Greek cuisine. Next to them were geese, which, if you asked nicely, you could put the food bucket. The cats that the staff took care of were our personal highlight. Everything is lovingly cared for and designed. This place has a special charm. We would come back every time!
