Ordered the half Tandoori Chicken and Garlic Naan, the chicken was dry and flavorless, and looked like it was cooked in red 40. The vegetables that came with the chicken were unseasoned and raw. The garlic naan was decent. The lentil soup was also decent. Overall, i had much better expectations due to the other reviews and the nice interior design. Unfortunately i won’t be coming back.

Food was spicy as ordered wine gave warmth..

Google
100% the best. I’ve been coming here since my college days and their food remains consistent. Truly feel that they have the best Indian food in the United States.

Christine Breton

Google
This place is the real deal. Incredible Indian food. Family run business. They are so nice and welcoming. Never have been disappointed with anything we have ordered. Come hungry!

Google
First time I’d eaten Indian food since leaving the uk and moving to New York. I was abit dubious at first as coming from the uk I have always been spoilt for choice with lots of options and amazing India cuisine. This place did not disappoint. The service was a little slow, but the food made up for it. We don’t eat meat and they also had plenty of veggie options cooked and presented well. Would definitely visit again if were ever over this way again. @mrlouisdriver

Google
We just had naan, and it was the BEST! It was filling, you could actually taste the cheese in the paneer naan, alu naan filled with potatoes, great garlic naan and more, this gives all the other Indian places in the Berkshires a run for their money.

Sophie GC

Google
Unbelievable delicious- we came from the city just for the restaurant. I would highly recommend the masalas, the chana palak, and their Saturday buffet. Bread-wise, the paneer naan and the poori are unforgettable, and of course, the chai tea is a great way to start the meal

Google
The worst indian food I've had all my life! This is mix grill....Chicken Tikka, Tandoori Chicken, Seekh Kabab, Shrimp, & Rack of Lamb. One piece of shrimp, very dry food on a bed of a ton of cauliflower and cabbages. So dry not edible!

Linda K.

Yelp
We had such a wonderful meal (and time) in Aroma this week. The service staff is the best, knowledgeable with important information about each dish - since we had many questions. The Tandori chicken - wonderful. The bread - just great. Samosas - so many different types available - were great. The portions are generous, the decor light and comfortable. We cannot wait to go back. A must in Great Barrington!

Yelp
This place is an absolute gem and served up some of the best Indian food I've ever tasted. The restaurant is family owned who were polite and attentive. The restaurant is clean, and the food is amazing. Next time in Great Barrington will be back to enjoy another meal here.

Yelp
I used to visit here frequently when I lived in town years ago, before Covid, because it was essentially the only restaurant with consistently good Indian food. I was recently back in Great Barrington and happy to see it still standing, and the experience honestly hadn't changed. It wasn't as busy as I remembered for a weekend lunch as we only saw one other group of customers. However the food was still as flavorful and tasty as I remember. I got the Chana masala which was seasoned to just the right spice level. The rice and plain naan were great, and we ended up getting a second order of the naan. It ended up being about $20/person. I hope this place continues to thrive and be supported!

Yelp
This restaurant was recommended to me by some locals. We had some garlic naan, which was very good. I had lamb Rogen gosh, which was excellent my aunt had lamb sag, which was too salty. My uncle had the chicken tandoori which comes with some dal. They have all the typical Indian dishes.
google avatar

Roger M.

Yelp
Decent Indian food, but not the best in the Berkshires. The flavors are good, but not distinct to be top tier

Yelp
We've ordered twice now for take out and both times were delicious. Friendly service and tasty food. Our favorites are the chicken tikka masala, veggie samosa and garlic naan. Definitely a new addition to our take out rotation. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This restaurant has the best Indian food I've ever had. The wait staff is very pleasant and it is a welcoming environment. 100% recommend.

Yelp
Really good Indian food! Service was very attentive. We got the Vegetable Pakoras, Chicken Korma, Palak Paneer, Aloo Naan, Mango Lassi, and the Indian Special Tea. Everything was incredible!

Mackenzie H.

Yelp
First time eating Indian food! So tasty and the service was very lovely. Thank you:). I also really love the artwork all over the restaurant!

Yelp
Incredible mango lassi and dal dishes. Really nice staff and great hospitality. Atmosphere is very cozy, and lots of great attention to beautiful decor around the dining room.

Andrew L.

Yelp
I thought service was very inattentive. Sat for 20 min before someone came over and it wasn't busy with other staff members basically ignoring any eye contact. Food was fair. I thought chicken korma was weird with raisins and whole soggy cashews. Tandoori chicken was rubbery. Lamb sagg and sagg paneer was very good. Breads were excellent. Nice to have variety in dining but would not go out of my way to dine here.

Yelp
How wonderful to have the "eat in" option back at this excellent restaurant, after 3 years+ of takeout only. The food is just better served piping hot right out of the kitchen. Every item on the menu that my friends & family has been excellent--and many are outstanding. Certainly the peer of the best Indian I have eaten in New York. Try your favorites and then venture to something new. Shrimp, chicken, lamb, goat and a rainbow of vegetables & breads.

E H.

Yelp
Chicken Dish, poor quality, sauce was really not good. Rice was not fresh and seemed rancid, oily. Asked for mild Veg dish, was given extra hot, foul tasting dish, Nan the meal.was very burnt. Over priced, poor quality 'food'. I was not well afterward.

Yelp
If you are craving for Punjabi style food in this area, look no further. Ordered the Kadhaai Chicken. It was the "Pakka Punjabi style"Kadhaai chicken. Flavored with hint of bay leaf / onion / ginger and garlic. Perfectly spiced gravy. This is a "Take Out" only restaurant. Freshly cooked.

Yelp
The food overall here was good. The service was a bit sporadic and at times we thought they forgot about us. It took at least 15 minutes to hail someone down to get our bill. We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, Paneer Tava Masala, Palak Chole, naan and rice. Both the Chicken Tikka and Paneer Tava were very sweet. They seem to use a lot of cream in their cooking, in my opinion, it makes the food a bit less authentic. Indian food should not be doused with creams. The Palak Chole, Rice and Naan were all great. My 10-yr old niece who hardly eats anything, ate more rice and naan than I've ever seen her eat.

Yelp
2.5 Stars for decor 3 for service and 3.5-4 for food This visit has been a long time coming. With all of the fresh food choices in the area, Indian food is the last type of cuisine that has my attention during July and Augus

Yelp
Wow, what a find! Awesome food. Really impressive all around, and great for bulk orders (packaged really nicely!). Strongly recommend this place -- and also recommend the rasmalai. Excellent!

Sue E.

Yelp
Excellent! It was such a great surprise to find wonderful Indian cuisine in a small burg.

Yelp
Though Aroma could work on its 'curb appeal' don't let that fact deter you from the excellent Indian fare to be found inside (or currently through a side window). They are far and away the best Indian to be found in the Berkshires. The garlic Naan, Mango Lassi, and Shahi Paneer we're stand outs tonight! One note, they are accurate with their spice meter, so if you don't like a ton of spice make sure they know you want mild!
google avatar

Julia S.

Yelp
Great chicken tikka masala and rice. Mango lassi also good but warning it has ground pistachio which the restaurant did not warn us about after alerting to allergy.

Yelp
We were visiting Berkshire County and wanted to eat Indian food. Aroma Bar and grill was recommended by the hotel. The owner was kind to prepare our food while we waited. Food was very fresh and like home made. Both quality and quantity of the food was excellent. Next evening we ordered our dinner again and found the same excellent result. Samosa and chutney were great! The owner is very courteous We highly recommend this place. Kalyan & Harminder Bagga

I've eaten here many times and have never been disappointed. Delicious, great portions and fair prices.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem in Lee area and to our surprise one of the best indian food we tasted in MA area. We ordered a goat , and 2 paneer dishes with Naan. Everything tasted extremely fresh and with the right blend of seasoning. If u feel like eating Indian this is def one of the best u can get from.

Yelp
Overprices, under quality chicken and no indoor dining, probably one of the better Indian places in the Berkshires but, If you have had real Indian in Boston, this would be compared to eating out of a dumpster... I didn't feel well after I had the meal. Wasn't impressed, had a hinker for Indian while in the Shire and regretted it. They have zero plans to open indoor dining.
google avatar

Ted S.

Yelp
The best Indian food around. Lovely, family-run restaurant with a focus on great food. We eat there as often as possible! Our favorites are the Lamb Korma and Chicken Tikka Masala, great naan, great samosas (with really good sauces) and our kids will eat basically any amount of raita, naan and rice. Also, the rice pudding is awesome!
google avatar

Jacob G.

Yelp
If you're looking for great Indian food I highly recommend Aroma! I've been eating here for years and the restaurant's hospitality and food quality have continued to maintain their high standards.

Yelp
Ordered take out from here the other day. This is the first time I've ordered Indian food in the Berkshires and it was delicious, some of the best Indian food I've ever had. I ordered the nov ratana korma and cauliflower samosa. The korma was delicious, large portions. I had leftovers for another meal and then some. The cauliflower samosa was okay but I'll probably order the veggie samosa next time. I also want to try their naan. Will absolutely be ordering from here again!!

Yelp
Leave Hartford and head toward Albany via Route 7. At around the halfway point, just about when those hunger pangs hit, have I got a cool place for you to try. We rolled into the Great Barrington version of Aroma (they also have one in Pittsfield) at 1:30 on Saturday afternoon. There was just one couple inside, and when they left, we had the place to ourselves, which was really odd because the interior is very pleasant, the service is excellent, and the food turned out to be tremendous. My son and I both went for their lunch special- which was a real value. They have a very novel approach to their lunch business. Basically, they will make a combination plate out of just about any entree on their regular menu for between $9 and $11. For example, We both ended up ordering a chicken lunch special for $9.95. They consisted of our choice of bread (naan, poori or roti), a choice of anything off the chicken menu, plus rice, a vegetable pakora, and Raita (a yogurt dip/dressing). My son went for the poori and Mango Chicken Jalfrezie (mild) and I went for the roti and the Chicken Mussalem (medium spicy). The food came out on these big cool metal plates with a space reserved for each course of the meal. The meals were very good- the portions of chicken were "just right" for lunch. My roti was delicate and flaky and was great for mopping up the left over sauce. We shared a mango lassi ($3.95) that was creamy and refreshing. All in all, we had a very nice experience there. One day we want to try the Sunday buffet.

Yelp
The food used to be so good here! The last two times we've gotten take out the food is very bland and it's clear they are making things differently. What happened ?

Yelp
Color me IMPRESSED. I know Aroma has been in this space for ages now; that being said, the last time I went there was when it was a seafood restaurant (the name escapes me!), and I was definitely around the age of 10. So, yeah, it's been a good 22 or so years since I last stepped foot in that building in general. However, my dad was craving an Indian fest for his birthday, so up to Aroma we went! This is a popular spot; by 6 p.m. on a Saturday night, it was almost completely full! The menu is extremely expansive, making it hard to choose what to pick and choose. To start, we had mulligatawny soup, vegetarian samosas, and kachumber salad. I opted for tried and true palak paneer, and my parents split the Raja Thali dinner special, complete with vegetable pakora, tandoori chicken, seekh kabab, lamb curry, aloo palek, basmati rice, papadam, and plain naan. We loved EVERYTHING we ate! I'd rank it up there with some of the best Indian places I've eaten at in NYC, absolutely! As a person that doesn't like spicy foods, their palak paneer was well-seasoned without setting my mouth on fire. (Always a plus. Ha!) The cheese was on point as well, just the right balance of firm and chewy yet soft. The rice was the same as my favorite Indian place in Manhattan, Manhattan Valley Indian Restaurant, so that alone will have me coming back here again! The naan was so incredibly pillowy, doughy, and buttery. I was able to steal bites from the Raja Thali platter; thumbs up especially to the tender and salty seekh kababs and the buttery chicken tandoori. I am so incredibly pleased with my meal and experience at Aroma, as were my parents. It's all my dad wanted to do for this birthday, so he was a very happy birthday boy, needless to say! I look forward to coming back next time I'm in the area visiting my parents; I don't think I'll have to to twist their arm to get them up there. ;-)

Yelp
I'm new to Indian foods. It's my first meal other than buying just the house rice (which I just love) I found it delicious and tasty and the staff was so kind to me! We will definitely be frequent customers!! Yummy!!

Yelp
Very impressed. The food and service was so good, my family had to come here two days in a row in our stay in ergemont. We love heat and spice to our food. With that being said, we eat Indian food pretty often whenever we get the chance or when we're out of town. This place is by far one of the best Indian food we had. When the waitor took our order, he asked us how we wanted it mild or hot. We love spicy. We're not used to ordering food and it actually being spicy but this time it was actually spicy! We loved it! We ordered palak paneer, chicken shahjahan, lamb vindaloo, 4 poori, 2 nans, it came with rice, to drink my husband had a local ipa, I got a mango lassi. It was the best mango lassi I've had. Tho the appetizers weren't so great as the food, we got samosas, and chicken tikka. The bill came out to be $95. But we more than enough food for 7 people I think. The portions were nice and very filling. We went back the next day. The waitor was so kind to help us order and pointed out the lunch specials to us. It was very satisfying. I got the vegetarian and my husband got the chicken korma lunch special. It can with rice, 2 veg pakora (fried patties), a choice of nan, roti, or poori (fried puff bread), & yogurt sauce. To drink my husband had a mango lassi, and I had the iced Chai tea. It was freshly made and refreshing. I highly recommend this place if you're in west Massachusetts area. It is worth it. We live 3 hrs away, I'm very glad we found this place. Remember this place can bring the spice in spicy so tell them you're level of tolerance.

Yelp
Excellent food! 1) Get the Raja thali, it was excellent non-Veg thali. 2) I also got the sweet lassi. Excellent. 3) Service was good as well.

Yelp
Just got takeout from this place. The food was very good. Lots to try on the menu. Only thing.... I really wish they had Butter Chicken on the menu. It's the best and should be in every Indian restaurant. Other than that this place is fabulous

Trudy M.

Yelp
We have been going to Aroma for years. Their food is fresh and nuanced. We always order the appetizer platter, then usually lamb dishes, and naan. Delicious! Lovely family owned & run restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
This Indian restaurant compares favorably with our favorite places in Chicago and Washington, D.C. It's a favorite among locals (and, given that this is Great Barrington, the locals have Brooklyn sensibilities). Terrific place. Try the mango chutney.
google avatar

Josh B.

Yelp
Their food is great! Whether you opt for the buffet or just get a chicken tikka masala dish, you are going to enjoy it. If you enjoy Indian food, then I highly recommend you dine here.
google avatar

Vivian S.

Yelp
This is really the only place to satisfy your Indian food cravings, but it's still pretty tasty and authentic for a rural small town restaurant. They don't have many vegan options though- in terms of entrees, only the chana masala isn't made with ghee according to the server I had. This is unfortunate, since the menu is nicely labeled "with cream" or "no cream", but then they still use ghee. :( I've had their lentils (dal tadka) before I knew they weren't vegan, and it was really good. I don't even think the rice is vegan. I order the whole wheat roti which doesn't have butter on it, and it's really good with the chana masala. It's super quiet right now but they are doing pick up and delivery. Support local businesses if you can!
google avatar

Jake B.

Yelp
Reliably good food and great service. They stayed open late so we could order take out. Try the Sunday buffet!
google avatar

Jani K.

Yelp
Terrible experience. The worst chai shop in India would be ashamed to serve this food. I could have found a better meal in my neighbor's dumpster.
google avatar

Joe B.

Yelp
First Indian food experience! I have driven by Aroma many times, but never thought twice about this type of ethnic food. The Chicken Curry was delicious, and I like how you get to choose your level of spice. Served with Bazmati rice, this dish has a very good balance of spices, and is filling -- portions are perfect. Also, my first time trying the "Naan". Awesome. Very nice family and staff, but I felt a little rushed -- The menu has a lot to choose from, I will definitely go back.
google avatar

Tom C.

Yelp
Excellent food. Simple, nice flavors. We ordered for 10 of us and the portions were just right, we tried many dishes and all were good. The lamb was my favorite and the garlic naan. Price very reasonable also.

Yelp
Aroma is definitely the best Indian I've had in Great Barrington. With a comforting space, spicy South Indian flavors, and polite and attentive service, it's the place to go if you want to experience Indian food in the wilds of Western Massachusetts. The dining room is dark and cozy, and you're usually seated almost immediately. They provide complimentary papadums and three chutneys at dinner - tamarind, tomato, and cilantro - which almost always go very fast. The menu provides the usual Indian standbys along with some interesting South Indian dishes, such as chicken chaat and Goa fish curry. The naan is also tasty - cooked thin and slightly charred, brushed with butter. I tried the Indian tomato soup ($3.95) and it was rich, creamy and delicious - almost like drinking a nice tikka masala sauce. I've tried the meat thali here before ($17.95), which comes with tandoori chicken, seekh (ground lamb) kebab, lamb curry, aloo palak (spinach and potato), raita, and vegetable pakoras. This was delicious and well spiced, and I especially enjoyed the yummy ground lamb kebab - it had a certain middle eastern flavor that's definitely hard to get out here in the Berkshires. On another visit, I tried the Goa Fish Curry ($16.95), which I ordered blazing hot per my usual preference. This was delicious and expertly spice, and I enjoyed the exotic interplay of the spices and the coconut milk with the light chunks of fish. Aroma also offers excellently priced lunch specials. My mango chicken lunch special ($8.95) came with raita, naan, vegetable pakora, and rice, along with an assortment of chutneys. The flavorful dark meat was spicy with a little kick of sweetness from the mango, and it was especially delectable when augmented with a little bit of tamarind chutney and yogurt sauce. Aroma also apparently does a Sunday lunch buffet for the excellent price of $12.95, which is pretty darn irrestible to the cash-strapped college student's soul. I love Aroma. The food is excellent, the service is friendly, and the menu has quite a few interesting and not ridiculously expensive choices. Hell, they even gave me a student discount. I think I'm in love.

Yelp
Wanted to try something new in Great Barrington so gave this a try. From the outside it doesn't look that great, seemed like either they were doing reconstruction or maybe it was the building next door to the left looked pretty bad. Once inside it was nice, we started on the left side but it was a little full so they opened up the right side and we were seated. I had the Chicken Tikka Masala , specified "medium" for the spice level. Also had a basket of flat bread, think it might have included spinach as part of the bread and it was good. It came with a bowl of Basmati rice also, so put some rice down, chicken on top, a little bread to catch the leftovers, it was good. Medium spicy was good, not to spicy and not bland, ate it all and loved it all. I think I had a Barrington Beer IPA but it might have been a Berkshire Mountain IPA draft which was good. I had some Badami Kheer (rice pudding with raisins/almonds/cardamon) which was very good. but we were talking a lot and probably overstayed our time. After a while our side of the restaurant filled up and we weren't asked if we wanted more water or other food so we felt like we overstayed our welcome. so paid and left and went down the street to The Well for some wings and more beer.

Adam T.

Yelp
Too salty first time. And second time same. We called and asked if they could make it less salty in the future and they said no. I guess it's one big pot. Anyway, we're sensitive about salt so unfortunately it's not our place.
google avatar

Justin O.

Yelp
I think this might be the only Indian restaurant in Berkshire area. So I wanted to see how it stands up to Indian cuisine in the SF area. Staff is friendly and the interior is clean. I did not try their Sunday buffet, but instead visited during dinner time. I ordered veg samosa, chicken tikka masala, eggplant curry, kema naan, regular naan, rice, and rasmali. All items were flavorful. But I couldn't give this place 5 stars due to the fact that I don't think the chicken was cooked fully. Had to settle for 3 stars. Otherwise, the dishes good. The rasmali was very fresh! Best part of the meal. Fluffy cheese and lightly sweetened milk.

Yelp
Aroma is amazing! I live in NYC, but have a second home in the Berkshires, and have been craving delicious, authentic Indian food in the area. Aroma did not disappoint - my entire family was very impressed, including kids! All the dishes were excellent with a beautiful balance of subtle and bold flavors, a great mix of dishes with heat and sweetness. And for Diwali they gave us some beautiful desserts. I can't say enough about how great our meal was - thank you!
google avatar

Dan O.

Yelp
I came here to this restaurant because it was advertised as the "Best Indian cuisine in the Berkshires" on a poster. That statement might have been a bit more impressive if they actually had actual competition in the area, but I had a craving for Indian and it was enough to get me in the door. What I found when I got there was a restaurant that was surprisingly empty for a Friday evening. It seemed that most people were calling in their orders for pickup instead of eating it there. After awhile, I started to notice why people weren't sticking around. The decor seemed a bit stale, the owner's kids were making noise, and it seemed that they were having problems with their sound system. Hearing the same 30 seconds of an Indian pop song over and over again gets annoying quickly! The food that I got (a Chicken Vindaloo) was pretty good, but I've had better in the past. On the flip side, the Gulab Jamun that I got for dessert was disappointing because it was cold in the middle. It seemed that someone pulled just pulled these out of a jar and didn't microwave them long enough. I'm hoping that I just caught these guys on a bad day, but I'd probably still try another restaurant downtown the next time I'm in the area.

Yelp
Aroma's is a small family run restaurant with a very friendly staff and great food. It always has customers at it, and the Sunday buffet is the deal of the week. The only reason it is not a five star is because when they get busy, they tend to have slower service. Because of the fact they are a family run business, I understand the lack of service but overall they are always friendly and professional. (There was a help wanted sign outside, so hopefully this will change.) I have yet to be disappointed with Aroma's and recommend it to anyone that enjoys Indian food.
