Arribas Sintra Hotel

We had a great time at AH and did enjoy ourselves. I do think the hotel leans very highly on the location as it is very popular. We during the time there had some pretty bad service in the hotel restaurant, from sitting waiting 40 mins to even ask for another drink, to slow service, to waiting at breakfast as no one brings cutlery. This can be offset as largely, the food itself was delicious! And the views for the terrace whilst eating are incredible. We had a mixed experience on that front.|The accommodation itself was satisfactory and the balconies are brilliant.|The pool is so popular and open to the public, meaning a small section is reserved for guests and it does tend to feel like a loud public pool at times which is a shame as it is really such a great space, where it feels like “guests have access to a public pool” rather than the hotel pool itself. Even having to go outside grounds to come back in as there’s no direct access from poolside. |Also the hotel should consider opening a small shop on site. Having to walk 35 mins to a neighbouring town to buy a water at normal price is not acceptable and if you were not able this would be impossible. A mini bar isn’t a solution to this. Overall a great experience but the little details hampered the experience. And this isn’t meant to nitpick but to say if they fixed these issues it would be perfect

Family having a great time at the hotel. The children love the vast pool. The location of the hotel is brilliant. Waking up in the morning overlooking the pool and the Atlantic behind is stunning, equally is watching the sunset from the balcony and/or the restaurant/bar terrace. Staff are very friendly and service is great. Food and drink in both the bar and restaurant are reasonably priced and good quality. The breakfast choice is varied - something for everyone. A real beauty is that the hotel has so few rooms. It never feels crowded, despite height of season. The hotel is exceptional value for money - found a little gem here. A 4 star hotel that deserves its stars.

Just spent 2 days here to celebrate my birthday. I love this hotel. Spectacular location with riveting views. Exceptional service by the staff. Fine breakfast buffet - and the dinner we had in the hotel restaurant was truly exceptional! My highlight - THAT pool. Reserved for swimmers first thing in the morning. I am a lap swimmer. Swimming laps in that never-ending pool was sublime. We will be back.

Excellent Hotel. The pool is amazing. It is so big it never feels crowded. The location is amazing and the rooms have a stunning view over the pool and the Atlantic. Facilities are good, restaurant and bar are reasonably priced and the food is nice. Service is friendly and always there to help. We booked breakfast only, which is varied with a large choice and delicious. 5 out of 5 and good value for money.

Booked for 4 of us last minute, amazing service helped us. Helped us find a sports match we wanted to watch. Great breakfast with loads of regional delicacies. Rooms have beautiful sea view. Lovely bathroom in the room too. Massive swimming pool and a good gym. Highly recommend, lovely people

The hotel has potential, but parts of it feel a little past their prime. Our family room was clean but dated, lacking the modern touches and sense of luxury you’d expect at this price point. The air conditioning struggled to keep the room cool, and the bathroom was surprisingly cramped, with barely enough space for toiletries.||The pool area looks inviting in the photos, but in reality it’s shared with non-hotel guests. This meant it was often overcrowded, and finding a free sun lounger felt more like a competition than the start of a relaxing afternoon. If you’re looking for a calm, exclusive poolside experience, you may be disappointed.

Amazing Praia Grande oceanfront, beautiful sunset and the best oceanic pool that I know - huge, very well maintained, good environment and fresh ocean water - we go there even when we’re not in the hotel (to spend the day). It’s one of those places perfect for when you want a get away from the world. Perfect either for romance and for family getaway.

An absolutely amazing experience! Gorgeous hotel, stunning views and utterly delightful service -- from the warm greeting by Nuria at the front desk upon our arrival to the constant support and assistance of her colleagues throughout the hotel, we felt truly welcomed and at-home. As lovely and the hotel and views were, it was the extraordinary staff that made this experience so magnificent - thoughtful, caring and genuinely committed to delivering a superb experience to guests. And the bed was so comfortable that we asked the front desk for the make and model of the mattress -- which they happily and promptly provided!

This is a great hotel located on the coast. The rooms were spacious and the views are gorgeous! Every room has an ocean view. It was nice to fall asleep to the sound of the ocean in the background. There is an air conditioner in the room, but we weren't sure if it was working as it did not seem to cool in the room.Not to worry as there is a fan in the room...only we did not have the fan control.We had to request one from the front desk. Kind of strange, but no big deal. Our tv remote control would only change the channel in one direction, but again, not a deal breaker. Now for the good stuff: the pool was amazing. We were here in the month of September.The water was definitely chilly, but there were a few occasions where we had it all to ourselves as it appears to be the end of the season. You must request pool towels from the hotel desk as there are none located near the pool.They have nice bathroom and locker room facilities near the pool. The pool is open to the public for a fee as well. There is a cafe just a few steps away that you can order food at and bring to the pool as long as there are no glass items (for examples: cups). The room itself was spacious.The bathroom was modern.Wasn't fond of the toilet being right behind the door which would hit a person on the can if another person were to enter. The soap dispenser attached to the wall needs to be closer to the end you shower on (it is a long shower). We had the family suite which had two twins in the front room and one king in the other. Plenty of room for a family of four. The complimentary breakfast consisted of fruits, pastries (glazed doughnuts, breads, muffins, croissants), cereal and a few hot items like bacon, eggs, mushrooms, something that looks like mini hotdogs (not sausage), and boiled eggs. You can sit out by the water or inside, but the outside tables are usually taken as they afford beach/ocean views.Not to worry though as you can see them inside as well. If you are trying to get an UBER, forget about it! We had four people cancel on us minutes after accepting us. After speaking with the front desk, we were informed that due to the fact that this hotel is located further out from town, UBER drivers will typically accept ride requests not realizing that it is further out than originally anticipated.The solution? You have to order a taxi in advance from the front desk. If you are trying to go to Azenhas do Mar, you can also take the 441 bus but make note there are two buses that go to different places and depending during the time of year, they may only come once a an hour if that!We tried to go to Azenhas do Mar and waited well over an hour with no results. Despite the little nuisances, we still really liked this hotel. It was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and enjoy the beach and surf views with the locals. I would definitely stay here again, but will prepare accordingly.

stayed here for 2 nights in late August. we were going to a wedding in Sintra so this hotel was very convenient. the rooms were spacious and spotless. the staff are very friendly and anyone we dealt with was a pleasure and made the effort to speak English with us. breakfast both mornings was delicious and we had bar food the firs night which was tasty.

great hotel! we happen to stumble across this hotel last minute and were very pleased. the rooms all have ocean views and were super clean and modern with a balcony! the parking was great to. the staff was very helpful. its located in a prime area with plenty of food and places to get a drink.
