ARRIVE Wilmington (Wilmington, North Carolina) 3 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The Arrive hotels are a Palisociety venture, and the concept is simple enough: the same impeccable taste and welcoming vibe familiar from their Californian originals, applied to some of the most unique neighborhoods all across the country. Arrive Wilmington is painstakingly tailored to its setting, a marriage of three historic structures in the waterfront district, and combines a bit of rough-edged post-industrial patina with genteel Southern charm — in typical Palisociety style it’s decorated with whimsical patterned wallpaper and an eclectic array of furnishings, including antiques, mid-century modern pieces, and contemporary additions." - Tablet Hotels

We stayed at ARRIVE Wilmington for my girlfriend’s birthday and the staff went above and beyond to make it truly special. They left a thoughtful handwritten note in the room and even gave us two complimentary drinks at the Gazebo Bar to celebrate. The hotel itself is immaculate, with a stylish, modern design and the bathrooms especially stood out with their amazing layout and aesthetic. Every request I had was handled with care and attention. Huge shoutout to the valet team, especially Amanda and Eric, who were incredibly kind and consistently checked in on how my girlfriend was doing, always acknowledging her birthday. There was also a friendly morning valet guy (wish I caught his name) who was just as helpful and welcoming. The location is perfect - everything in downtown Wilmington is walkable, from great restaurants to the Riverwalk. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a clean, beautifully designed place with genuinely thoughtful service.

The hotel is awesome, great walking distance to all to see. Comfy beds and restaurant onsite. Amanda valet was very friendly , welcoming and accommodating. I had injured my foot and when I’d arrive at the hotel she immediately helped me with retrieving ice. Thank you for having supportive staff, I would definitely recommend Arrive Wilmington.

This wonderful smaller hotel surprised my partner and I. The hotel itself is in a great part of downtown Wilmington. It's perfectly placed, with shops and restaurants just a block or two away. Usually being downtown, close to the nightlife, means loud and rowdy passerbys during the night, but we couldn't hear a thing! The rooms themselves were cute. They leaned heavily into the historic design, which was not lost on us. The bathroom was great too! The tile work was amazing and the shower was pretty with more historic looks sprinkled in. The staff was wonderful as well! They gave us a rundown of where our room was, where we could go for snacks and food nearby, and the valet was amazing too! (Our valet was Leo, he was easy to talk to, super nice and very accommodating.) 10/10 is our final assessment, this hotel was amazing! We definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful stay at Arrive! It all started with a warm reception from Leo at valet. When he saw my son playing with a toy train, he informed us of the local train museum. Great idea!||We arrived too early for check in but the lobby was happy to hold our bags while we explored town. Arrive is in a wonderful location. Close enough to walk to all the restaurants and bars, but set far enough away so the night life isn't a bother. Directly across the street from the coolest coffee shop ever!||Once in the room it was beautiful and clean. A classy old time radio for tunes, large TV for binge watching, and an amazing shower! ||I will absolutely be staying here again.

What a great hidden gem! Location was perfect for the riverwalk area! Love their text messages and the price was right. Checked in and the room was fabulous. Had drinks at the gazebo bar and John was an absolute jewel. We went to a restaurant recommended by them for dinner. We did eat at the Dram Yard for breakfast and it was an excellent breakfast. Definitely recommend Arrive if you are on then Wilmington area.

Second time staying here. Love it! It’s so cute and the service is top notch every time! Park on the street or use their valet, that they say you can come and go from with a flat rate. The rooms are super cute and comfy for couples. No elevators, it’s a historic building. Beds and pillows are comfy. Snacks and sodas are available in the rooms… my only recommendation for that— because I’ve only come for business, is that a little coffee maker would be nice… (more useful then craft popcorn). Another thought is that the little window near the sink faces the rising sun— I love it dark so wished for a way to block that morning light… But in general I love this place. Will be back every time I swing through the city!

Great hotel! |With the exception of the unprofessional manners of the receptionist when we checked in, we can’t say enough how much we enjoyed our stay!|Our valet Leo was so helpful and pleasant! He took our bags from our car and brought them up to the room (2flights of stairs).|The room was was clean and spacious. We received our extra bedding quickly. The room was clean. The bathroom was decorated with fun tile and even had a steamer for getting wrinkles out of clothes! We would have enjoyed some bottled water that was free of charge. |We had some cocktails with friends in the garden seating outside our room. The bartender John was extremely busy! We had to wait some for our drinks but John made us feel well taken care of and delivered delicious cocktails! He’s a jem!! |We enjoyed the rocking chairs in the morning while we sipped coffee from Hidden Grounds only steps away.|The location couldn’t have been better! We were only steps away from shops, restaurants and the Riverwalk. |We will definitely stay here again!

Google
I stay in 30 hotels a year and have done so for decades. This is a wonderful place. The rooms and Sells are very attractive, as is the whole layout of the courtyard. The gazebo bar scene at night is very pleasant and the bartender John is Exceptional. Everyone I met was friendly, suggesting this hotel attracts a very nice clientele. I highly recommend this to anyone.

Yelp
This hotel is located in an excellent spot in downtown Wilmington a short walk from the restaurants, businesses and Riverwalk. This makes it ideal overall for a stay downtown, which was the purpose of our visit. The rooms are small but well laid out to take advantage of the space with a full walk-in shower. Storage is somewhat lacking, so be prepared if you are going to unpack. We were staying for an overnight, so not an issue for my husband and I. Air conditioner works great, and that counts in a steamy city like Wilmington! Bed was super comfortable and linens were soft, so no complaints there whatsoever. Note around parking: It's $26/day, and if you use the valet it's the easiest option overall. However, that does mean you have to order your car when coming and going. They have an automated system that makes it easy, but it's worth noting and being prepared because it is a pricier component of the hotel. Not sure of options if you choose to self-park; we opted to park via valet and then walk the city until our departure. Also, highly recommend Prost as a nearby option for food that's just steps away; we loved it and would've eaten there for every meal.

Yelp
I stayed at Arrive in Wilmington a couple of weeks ago, and the check in process was a complete disaster. To make it up to me, they offered to refund my first nights stay. I was so impressed with that level of service, I almost cried. Unfortunately, it has been over 2 weeks, and they never actually refunded my room. I have called and text several times, and they just seem to ignore me. If they weren't actually going to refund the room, I wish they wouldn't have offered to. That just seems so much worse!

Yelp
We stayed here as part of a two week trip through NC. Initially we were looking forward to this stay. As soon as we arrived the valet broke our suitcase, denied it and when we tried to get the company to pay to fix it were told it wasn't their problem. The valet asked us to speak to the front desk, the front desk immediately tried to distance themselves from the valet. If you're using their service, it's YOUR problem. The room was supposed to have a king bed, it was a queen. That wasn't as comfortable as we needed. I reached out twice to the hotel to speak to a manager and left two emails, neither one was returned. Super disappointed to be treated this way.

Yelp
Great location for a weekend get-away. We like to stay in a place that allows us to walk to restaurants and shops and this was perfect. We could walk to the River Walk in just a few minutes. It had the quaintness of a B and B but with more privacy. Very chic decor in the room and a fun outdoor courtyard with several fireplaces and lots of seating as well as games. A nice restaurant is on the property and an outdoor bar. I do wish there were coffee pots in the rooms, but that is my only complaint. And there is an awesome coffee shop on the next corner. Our car would not start when we were ready to leave and the valet and another employee jumped us off. Above and beyond for sure! Stay here if you go to Wilmington.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful hotel! A gem of a place. The room are so beautiful and the grounds are so nice. Love the fireplaces too. The staff is great! And breakfast was delish. Also wonderful location.

Yelp
We have stayed in other PaliHotels in Southern California, so we were excited to stay at Arrive in Wilmington. We've had a really great first trip to Wilmington. We're staying in a king room on the first floor. It's a very well appointed and beautiful room, relatively well-priced. Pros; Gorgeous bathroom and shower (I'm obsessed with the pink subway tile and Kohler shower!) with top notch towels, bed linens and bar products, plus a little fridge for drinks, etc. Not sure on the cost of the treats and drinks in the room-we brought our own and didn't partake in that. A price list would be nice for the honor bar. Air conditioning works perfectly, especially in the 95 degree heat days, inside is cool. Coffee at the Dram Yard is absolutely delicious, have loved that. The hotel is close enough to walk all over downtown and to shop, stop at bars to drink and to multitudes of restaurants. The grounds of the hotel are so well kept. Lots of green space and flowers Employees are super friendly here! Cons: our toilet was running on and off the entire time we've been here, no big deal, but maybe have it looked at? Floor tile in the vanity and inside the bathroom could use a good scrubbing, not as clean as it could be. A good steamer would do wonders. Parking is $26 per day, kinda steep compared to other hotels who don't charge for parking. Not enough storage space for 2 people. Only 4 hangers on the clothes rack, would bring our own hangers next time. Not enough storage space for storing lingerie, socks, tee shirts, etc. We would definitely stay here again, it's such a beautiful boutique hotel, and close to so much here in Wilmington. Really loved staying here overall!

Yelp
I was supposed to stay at arrive while my dad had a heart catheter procedure. I got a room through hotels.com. The doctor tried to do the procedure but decided it was worse that he expected so they stopped it and said he was going to have to have open heart surgery. I decided to stay in the hospital to be close and went to arrive to cancel the room. Because it was less than 24 hours I figured it was a long shot to get my money back but when I told the receptionist my story she said she would approve the cancellation when hotels.com called them. I got my money back and it took so much stress of knowing I wasn't out a bunch of money. They were so friendly at the hotel. When I come back I will definitely be staying here!

Yelp
I am visiting family in Wilmington for Thanksgiving so I booked a room at Arrive hotel a week in advance and prepaid in full. After being on the road all day, it was dark and I was tired but I was happy to get to the hotel just before 7pm. I check in and am assigned a room on the 2nd floor. When I get to my room with all of my luggage, the door to the room was already open. I say "Hello?" but no one is in there. Heat radiating out of the room. I discovered they had the heat turned up as high as it could go. I try to shut the room door behind me, but the door just swings back open. I discovered the door does not lock or even latch. I then head to the front desk. The front desk tells me they have multiple rooms that are broken so they don't have any rooms available and they don't have a repair person available to fix. So there I am with all my luggage without a place to stay. On top of that, Arrive hotel said the refund would take 7-10 business days! Very upsetting experience. I will not be back to Arrive Hotel and wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Yelp
We stayed at the King bed room in this hotel. Before arriving I had high hopes because of all the positive reviews, and also I heard they recently renovated the place. The price was not cheap, but I thought as long as it's good it should be worth it. The King bed room turned out to be really small! There was also not even a table where I could sit and eat from. The bathroom, though nicely remodeled, is tiny as well. It may be ok for a one person stay, but for two people, it's tiny, we run into each other all the time, not enough space at all. It was also noisy at night. Not sure if the noise was from some fan outside or from the mini fridge in the bathroom area, it was not pleasant. Expensive as the room was, that price did not include breakfast nor parking. All that has to be extra payment. The one nice thing about it may be the location, located within walking distance to the river and restaurants. I would definitely not stay here again. A local B&B in one of those historic buildings would be a much better choice.

Yelp
What a wonderful hotel we came upon. Not only was it relaxing, extremely clean...everything was dry cleaned and even the remote control was in a bag cleaned. We were able to relax and bring our pup! We didn't want to leave as there was so much to do within the hotel outside courtyard. There was a special planned Labor Day event serving oysters snd mimosas and other specialty drinks. The staff was fabulous and friendly. Thanks Vincent for making us feeL welcome. The hotel is very close to water and many local restaurants, we never had to move our car! See you soon ARRIVE, we see coming back:)

Yelp
Quaint hotel with great restaurant and great location to Wilmington's Historic District. The staff was excellent, everyone from the valet, to the front desk, to the restaurant (wait staff and chef) and housekeeping was friendly and helpful. The room was very stylish and comfortable.

Yelp
Clean clean clean. Of all the places I was gonna stay this place had the best reviews when it came to cleanliness and that's all I cared about. Very good service, very good location for night life. If you're looking for a quiet and peaceful stay this is not that though, it was like 2:30 am Saturday evening so what can you do and I wasn't mad or upset at all, but some motorcyclists from a business across the way we're having a blast riding around revving the souls out of their bikes. I thought it was pretty cool tho and I enjoyed my stay so so much.

Yelp
What a beautiful, beautiful, beautiful space. The Arrive is so thoughtfully curated and an oasis in downtown Wilmington. Came for a weekend and had an easy time from check-in Friday night to check-out on Sunday morning. Parking is free and across the street, which is pretty crucial during the summertime. The rooms are motel style, with the doors leading to the outdoors, and they go up 3 stories. The steps are pretty steep, so if there is limited mobility or you need additional support, make sure you talk to the hotel when getting your rooms set up. I didn't see an elevator-but perhaps I missed it. The rooms are cozy, but you don't need a lot of space when it's set up so nicely--plus there are rocking chairs on the porch outside the room to sit and enjoy the sun. The bed was so comfortable that we're trying to track down exactly what mattress style it was to buy for our home. The amenities in the room were perfect--we lived in the linen robes they had and regret not buying some that weekend (they have prices listed for all the fun gadgets and luxuries that you could want from the room). The shower was to die for and I took 2 a day just because I could. Coordinating with hotel staff was super easy-they were available via text and showed up super fast when we messaged them for some new towels. The TVs in the rooms are connected to AppleTVs, so we just streamed music from our phones the whole weekend, which was a great break from boring hotel TV options. Each night after dinner we grabbed a cool drink from their restaurant, Dram Yard, and took it into the garden. The first night we were at the hotel there was a live concert in the adjacent lot, so we listened to a great cover band and relaxed in some Adirondack chairs. Overall, I have been dreaming about the Arrive since we left and I'm already planning another trip to Wilmington just to relax at the hotel. Thanks for a wonderful weekend!

Yelp
Bottom line: ARRIVE Wilmington is a charming boutique hotel that is a pleasure to stay in, dog friendly as well. Beautiful courtyard, quaint well decorated and maintained rooms, as well as good location a couple of blocks back from the riverfront area. They checked all the boxes, wonderful place to stay. The Deets: We were looking for a nice hotel near riverfront Wilmington that was also dog friendly, and ARRIVE showed up on the radar. Staying one night on the weekend, we found that this boutique hotel was warm, inviting, clean, and well made. Rooms are made in either a Mini, Suite, or Loft configuration, and we enjoyed the Mini room style. Most all rooms are facing a fantastic courtyard nicely maintained with gardens, chairs, firepits/fireplaces, and a small outside bar area. The little bar is a nice place to hang out, get to know your fellow guests, and enjoy a drink. The bartender was great in engaging guests and making sure everyone was well taken care of while there. We did not get to enjoy dining at their adjoining restaurant Dram Yard on this stay. The rooms for the most part all face the courtyard, doors opening to the outside area. The room itself was charming...just what was needed. It was decorated well, new and clean, cozy with a very VERY comfortable bed (there are some great pics of inside the rooms from other Yelpers already on this page, please look). The shower in particular was very nice, wide space with plenty of room with shampoo/body wash etc. provided in large wall mounted pump dispense bottles. Be advised that the room door to the outside has a large glass center but there are blackout type curtains to pull over the doorway to guarantee privacy when desired. Also, be aware that the door lock mechanism resets automatically at 11am your day of checkout...you will not be able to access your room again with your key card after that point. Staff here was very nice, and try their best to accommodate you. The room rates are variable depending on weekday/weekend nights and room type, so best to check their site for rates. In all, the stay at ARRIVE Wilmington was very enjoyable and I look forward to another stay when in the area in the future.

Yelp
Summary; cute stylish hotel in a great location. Minimalist open floor plan room, Small and functional but not too tiny. It works nicely! I would definitely stay here again and in fact it would be my preferred hotel to stay in Wilmington close to the riverfront. This is a review of their "Mini" room. Room price is competitive with other name brand hotels in the area. Bed is VERY comfortable with Beautyrest pillowtop mattress and good pillows. I felt like I had a great sleep. Arrive Hotel seems designed to cut down on waste. Also it gets rid of a lot of hotel annoyances. Rooms surround Courtyard area. Didn't get to enjoy the courtyard because it was raining but it looks like they have a lounge and maybe a bar? They have a small artificial turf lawn designed for lawn bowling (I think that's what it is). Texting for everything. No phone. Just text to check out and leave key in room. Three stories, balcony looking out on courtyard. Rocking chairs on the shared balcony. Didn't see any elevator so if climbing stairs is a problem would need to request an accessible first floor room. No separate closet but have a metal pipe hanger rod and wicker baskets for storing clothes in addition to a small dresser as well as drawers in the bedside table that can store a few small items. I was solo but I would think the room would be cozy with enough space for two people comfortably. Three or more would be a bit tight. Robes (from House of Hiatus). Umbrella. Stylish decor. Well lit. Easy to access and well placed light switches (another hotel pet peeve). Cute Victrola radio on w bluetooth connectivity on the bedstand. Bathroom: nice open shower. Bath products are good quality red flower brand. Instead of the little throwaway bottles of body wash and hair products and the little wrapped soaps they have refillable pump bottles of body wash, shampoo, and conditioner on the wall in the shower and refillable pump bottles of body lotion and hand wash next to the spacious sink. Little passport sized "How to Wilmington" guidebook with local suggestions in the room. Dog friendly hotel. I have dog allergies but didn't have a problem with my allergies. Free parking in a designated lot across the street. Provide hair dryer and handheld clothes steamer. No iron. Internet speed seems good. No problems with connectivity. No annoying hotel wifi password, or need to enter credentials. Decent access to plugs. Speaking of annoying, no annoying automatic closing door. You can leave the door open and enjoy fresh air. You can actually roll your suitcase out without the door hitting you in your rear.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING! My husband and I visit wilmington often and typically stay on the waterfront. This time we decided to give Arrive a shot. From the beginning this place was stellar. The valet Cole was so nice and helpful. At the front desk we were greeted by Tylor who made us feel so welcome. He answered all questions we had and even gave us some great recommendations. He was genuinely excited to talk about all the "hidden gems" in the area. When we got to our room we were taken back by how beautiful it was. Immaculate and beautiful. Most importantly, the hand soap and other shower amenities smell wonderful! After this visit, we know Arrive will be our first choice when visiting Wilmington.

Terry M.

Yelp
very nice place however we can not get the air conditioning to work and get the room below 74 and 75% humidity. this is our 2nd room with the same issue! now at 1 am we are getting another room at another hotel because it is so uncomfortable here! the place is quite nice and plenty of fire pits and place to hang out outside! however, some of the money spent on the bars and outdooutdoor fire places could be better spent on upgrading the HVAC!

Yelp
We loved our downtown ILM staycation in October and look forward to doing it again soon. The ARRIVE property and the rooms are beautifully appointed, with thoughtful amenities. There are firepits and fireplaces outside, great outdoor space, it's dog friendly and the cocktails at the bar are fantastic. Location is perfect to everything downtown and parking is directly across the street (and free). The beds (and the bedding) is the best! We enjoyed a delicious dinner at PinPoint and then walked through the neighborhood. The next morning, we took the dog on a walk for bagels. If you want an urban experience, this is the perfect place!

Alexis T.

Yelp
This hotel was disastrous. We booked this as a fun getaway while visiting from Raleigh. My husband and I upgraded to a suite prior, which we stayed in. #25 to be exact. Upon arriving at "ARRIVE" - there was no one to be found at the front desk (right around check-in time, 2:45pm.) We were left searching the property for someone to help and eventually had to get the Valet guy to go find someone. Warm welcome, huh? The "suite" you're put in is two floors up (which we thought was great) but no one is there to help with large bags. For a 4 star hotel, this was strange. Upon walking in, you'll find a cute room until you realize the actual sleeping area is a SMALL queen bed shoved into a tiny little room off the living area with no TV or even space to close the door (you have to actually move the bedside table to close the door.) While getting ready for dinner, we noticed a crazy loud rattling and banging above (the generator/AC) and left hoping it was a one-off noise. Fast forward to sleeping time, the rattling/banging above continued for hours. We contacted the front desk and were told we were indeed below the known generator. They offered earpods which we accepted - but no one showed up with them after 45 minutes. My husband went down to the lobby yet again - searching for an employee at 11pm at "ARRIVE" - they were nowhere to be found. Then comes the worst part. The clubs in town (Friday night) start playing music which begins to BLARE through our windows. At 1am, we had enough and left the hotel to check into Hotel Ballast Hilton. Upon returning the next morning, we were told there was nothing they could do and this was a "usual Friday" in town. They then offered us a $100 off the room stay - which they then proceeded to CHARGE my card an extra $100 (not refund), THEN charge my card AGAIN $17 for "minibar fees" - we never touched the minibar. This was by far the worst hotel, service, and accommodations we have ever experienced. WARNING - do yourself a favor and book elsewhere. We travel to hotels at least twice a month and I've never experienced such an awful place.

Donna B.

Yelp
Hotel was beautiful staff amazing room was very comfortable and the grounds were spectacular

Debbie W.

Yelp
Really cute boutique hotel with comfortable, CLEAN, adorable rooms (a little small and we could definitely hear our neighbors, but the thoughtful design made up for it). We really wanted to enjoy the lawn games, gazebo bar, fire pits, and rocking chairs, but it was pouring and cold during the night we stayed. Bummer, but we'll be back. I was juggling hungry kids and a dog and it was pouring, and Tylor brought us to-go containers and utensils through the rain so we could enjoy our takeout food. Thank you!

Jessi S.

Yelp
This well designed boutique hotel was the perfect place for a weekend getaway. The front desk (especially Tylor) was very helpful and friendly. This hotel is the perfect walking distance to every restaurant and experience in the historic downtown.

Yelp
ARRIVE is the perfect addition to Wilmington! The location is right in the heart of downtown so just a few steps away from great food, bars, and the waterfront! The atmosphere of the outside is cozy and modern! The fireplaces are such a great touch! The rooms were so cute and cozy! The attention to details was amazing and made our one night stay perfect! The pricing was very fair for the location and all of the amenities! Would highly recommend for anyone coming to Wilmington!

Yelp
What an awesome boutique hotel! We stumbled upon it looking for a last-minute reservation while in Wilmington for the night, And man we really lucked out. Turns out after arriving, that the Hotel opened its doors to the public only week prior to our arrival. The rooms are a little small but the attention to detail and quality of them is amazing. I would recommend this place to anyone staying in Wilmington!

Yelp
Wow! What an amazing experience we had at ARRIVE in Wilmington! Wonderful location, accommodating and attentive staff, cool outdoor cabana for afternoon drinks and beautiful rooms! When the staff found out I was racing in the local half Ironman I found a note/Ironman mask in my room. Nice personalized touch! Hope to try their other locations soon, too. ARRIVE set the tone for a great weekend in Wilmington!

Yelp
I attended a yelp elite yoga event at Arrive and I was absolutely star struck. Who knew that such a charming place existed in Wilmington! We did our yoga flow out in the courtyard and honestly it was the most picturesque night. The weather was perfect. Their fire pits and garden lights lent a nice glow. The manager of the hotel came out to mingle with us before the flow started and she was so sweet. She talked about the hotel and the significance of the property, she answered questions and gave us a little update on what they are planning for the future. If I didn't live here, this would be the only place I stayed in town. We didn't see any of the rooms, but from the courtyard alone, you could see the care that was put into the beautiful hotel. I look forward to having my guests stay here and I cannot wait to return. They have a restaurant and bar on premises both of which are incredible. The ambiance alone has my attention!

Yelp
This place is a perfect oasis in the middle of downtown Wilmington. The room decor is extremely current. The courtyard is welcoming, quaint, and so fun! If you have two nights to spend in Wilmington, check it out!

Yelp
Very nice hotel. Location is downtown close to everything. There's a bar downstairs with a gazebo and plenty of other benches and chairs to relax, including fireplaces and other outdoor activities set up. Relaxed environment with helpful and friendly staff. Rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable/clean.

Yelp
The most amazing hotel I've stayed in! Every detail is so well thought out. All of the employees were so helpful. The courtyard is sweet for relaxing + grabbing a cocktail. Their bar is open to the public! Will definitely be back.

Yelp
My husband and I had a lovely stay. The place was lovely, the staff was professional and friendly, the room was very clean and WONDERFUL! We would stay at ARRIVE again. It was a special boutique hotel.

Savannah A.

Yelp
Beautiful, upscale, boho feel. We were here for a Valentine's Day weekend and absolutely loved it. Perfect location for downtown action, but very quiet. We never had to use our cars until we checked out. Everything (bars, restaurants, shops, waterfront) was within walking distance. Even in heels! Tv had netflix, Hulu, etc that you could log yourself into. The rooms were gorgeous and the fire pits in the courtyard were just precious. Definitely going back!

Olivia M.

Yelp
This hotel is amazing. We were greeted with such genuine kindness when we walked in it was awesome. The girl working in the library was super friendly and helpful. We got into and our room and WOW! The details they put into this hotel are astounding. Down to the gold plated toilet handle it is so well decorated and comfortable. I have since ordered the butterfly wallpaper they had because that's how in love with it I was. They have a restaurant and bar too. What more could you need?

Leni F.

Yelp
I visit Wilmington often, and since the old Wilmingtonian Hotel closed I've been staying in Airbnb's -- which were all nice, but I loved the location and charm of the hotel. When I heard it had reopened as Arrive, I happily reserved a 5 night stay, and accepted the "no refunds" clause to secure a better rate. After my reservation was locked in, I received an e-mail from the hotel informing me that there would be no coffee available in my room, and if I didn't feel like walking 3 blocks to the nearest coffee house I was welcome to upgrade to a suite, which would have coffee. This info was immediately followed by a reminder that my reservation was completely nonrefundable -- thus managing to be both snooty and "gotcha!" within a couple of sentences. The old hotel had a big urn of excellent (and free!) hot coffee in the lobby, just a few steps from the rooms. Like even the most basic highway motels, they believed offering morning coffee was part of being a good host. It's regrettable that the current owners, in their zeal to create a stylish hotel, overlooked the most essential concept: hospitality, otherwise known as making guests comfortable. I can't afford to cancel my 5 nonrefundable nights and book elsewhere, so I'll keep the reservation. Meanwhile, I nervously await the next e-mail from Arrive. "We wanted to let you know that there will be no running water in your bathroom, although you are welcome to upgrade to a suite......"

Yelp
My wife and I stayed there one night in a standard king bedroom. We went to dinner at 8:25 PM Sunday night. Upon entering the restaurant the manager, Vince, asked if I had a reservation. I said no, we are guests at the hotel. He then, curtly, asked if we would eat at the bar. I said no. He then said, "Well, I am not sure we can accommodate you tonight." At that moment the hostess, a lovely person, came back from seating another couple and promptly proceeded to seat us. She was rather surprised when I asked if they could fit us in. When we entered the dining area there was only one table of the total area that was occupied. We were very offended at that moment, then proceeded to leave. When we walked past Vince, he smugly asked why were we leaving, did the server run us off? I told him he was the reason were leaving and he became very meek, asking what the problem was. I had no intention of wasting any more time with this substandard human with clear narcissistic tendencies, and promptly exited. Upon our return from dinner to the hotel, we were asked by three of the employees what had happened. Vince had discussed the incident with them and disingenuously stated he felt bad and wanted to apologize. As a manager you do not behave this way. If he truly felt bad and wanted to apologize for his behavior, he very easily could have. Instead, he acted like an adolescent school child, who goes and tells the other children his delusional version of events. I voiced this exact same description of the incident to checkout person when we left the next day. I was told the GM was aware of the incident and was addressing it. The unprofessional, insulting and utter indifference of Vince and whomever the GM is, never heard a peep from them, is a massive red flag to stay away from this hotel and restaurant. If they are so utterly careless about the treatment of their hotel guests, how good can the food at the restaurant really be? Wilmington, NC has an excellent pool of seasoned tourism and hospitality staff to hire from and they chose Vince as a manager. One has to truly wonder how a customers' expectations of hospitality and great dining experience could ever possibly align with owners who have chosen a person like Vince to be representative of the establishment's best. The server and hostess were the only people who genuinely cared what had happened and tried to make amends. The hostess, from the night before, was working the checkout counter the next day. She was understanding, honest in her replies and truly cared about the establishment and its guests. All the qualities a place like this should regard highly in their management team.
