10 Best Hotels in Prague

"The name may be a clue—if you’re more of a minimalist kid, or prefer raw concrete brutalism, avert your eyes now. But if you love the theatrical flirt and whimsy of Art Deco, throw on your sequined flapper dress and come here. Designed by architect Jaroslav Beneš in 1914, this hotel is a showstopper, to be set alongside London’s Savoy and New York’s Chatwal for Jazz Age syncopation. Bronze nudes swoon and gesture; almost every surface is alive with hand-painted ceramics and tiled mosaics—birdlife, serpents, sheaves of corn. In the lobby, figures inspired by Ancient Egypt are shown sideways on, draped in white dresses, carrying grapes, and flanked by lions; the staircase is more Cubist, with angular ironwork inset with jewel-like lacquer; a private dining room is adorned with mosaics that resemble embroidered tapestries. Even the small gym occupies a space resplendent with jade-green tiles. The whole place was restored and renovated in 2022—the original bedroom furnishing is long gone, but the new design riffs on the Deco period with fanned wooden headboards, feather motifs, and red and yellow tones. Skip the rather mundane bar, but for heaven’s sake, book (and you’ll need to book) a table at the Imperial Café, a favorite of Kafka’s now run by celebrity chef Zdeněk Pohlreich. With its intricately carved white and gold columns, there’s almost something of the Jain temple or mosque about it; mosaic branches spread across the ceiling, while the waiters below serve dill soup and confit duck to diners. Pure escapism." - Rick Jordan

Just returned from a stay at the Art Deco Imperial in Prague - absolutely fantastic!! Our room (junior suite) was perfect with everything you need for a city break. Very comfortable bed with lovely pillows. Big windows overlooking the street below (we were on 2nd floor). Immaculately clean throughout the hotel. Rituals toiletries - Devine! We ate in the restaurant a couple of times - food was delicious. All staff were friendly and attentive. Our luggage was delayed 36 hrs and reception staff were happy to help with charging phones and very supportive. Can’t wait to go back.

Wonderful experience from the moment we walked into the lobby. Wonderful, friendly and helpful staff throughout the hotel. Very chic and clean hotel. Room was excellent , large and very clean with huge windows. The bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was very large and very clean. Breakfast buffet was excellent in a classic looking cafe (Imperial Cafe). Location is amazing walking distance to EVERYWHERE. |Didn’t use the gym so can’t comment about that. My daughter used the facial and didn’t like it. But I must say the price was very reasonable. |We will definitely come back to Prague and for sure stay here again. |Thank you so much for great memories in this beautiful city at a wonderful hotel.

My wife and I began our vacation with a two night stay in Prague. We chose the Art Deco Imperial Hotel and it was a great choice. The hotel is conveniently located near historic squares, great tourist sites, restaurants, shopping and mass transportation. A very good restaurant is located in the hotel. The rooms were clean, modern and airy with comfortable bedding, TV, updated bathroom and wifi. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The Art Deco Imperial is a great hotel choice in Prague.

We stayed in the Imperial Suite for 7 nights. This review is related to this specific room. Despite a few minor drawbacks, we would definitely stay at this hotel again in the future. What was excellent: Breakfast was included and the Imperial Cafe is a beautiful place to start each day. Free mini bar in the suite The suite has 2 separate toilet rooms. The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious Very clean and quiet The air conditioner worked exceptionally well The hotel is centrally located and a tram stop is one block away What was unfortunate: The suite had no view. The windows are more like skylights so you can only see the roof of the adjacent building. Bathrooms are all marble and floors are very very slippery when wet (although beautiful) The bathroom next to the entrance has a marble slab on the floor with sharp edges. It took me a few days to avoid stepping on it with my heal (not dangerous, just painful) When some of the trams pass by the building, the room will shake a little. It took about a day or two before we didn't really notice it.

The location is convenient if you want to walk in the Old Town. A tram nearby takes you to the main railway station in two short stops. It's also a 10 minute walk from the main bus station. ||If you like Art Deco, you will really enjoy this place. The cafe on the ground floor is an art exhibition in itself, and serves a good breakfast as well. The service level throughout the day varied greatly, and was sometimes curt and impersonal.||Our room was clean and well equipped with a minibar and well placed in-room safe.

Beautiful classic hotel right in the heart of Old town Prague. Rooms are large, well-appointed and have strong AC for those warm days. Staff are friendly and rooms are spotless. There’s not a complaint to be found! We didn’t use public transportation while there since everything is within easy walking distance. The restaurant is excellent in the hotel and is rated as one of the best in Prague. We enjoyed our stay in beautiful Prague as well as this great hotel!

We stayed for two nights. The setting is beautiful in the public areas and the rooms. The front desk staff was attentive. We called for a restaurant reservation, and they helped. They have some umbrellas too; we needed one day. There was a beverage station in the lobby with coffee then water later in the day. |We had breakfast included for the two days. And it was lovely. Everything you could want was provided. Service there was good.|Our room was spacious, with high ceilings. The bath also was large with a tub and separate shower. There were plenty of towels and a hair dryer. There was a scale.|The large closet included an iron and board, and a safe. We had a kettle in the room with tea and instant coffee. Everything worked.|Even though our room overlooked the street it was quiet. The darkening curtains were a good feature. |Everything was comfortable. |The location was also excellent. We took the number 8 tram one day. |There was a bar adjacent to the lobby area. We didn't go there but saw others in that space. |We saw two elevators.

We have just returned from Prague - having spent four days in this most beautiful, historic city. The hotel is situated in Old Town - within walking distance of many popular sights. The hotel is a 5* property recently refurbished in Art Deco Style. Its Cafe Imperial with its ceramic mosaics, tile-decorated walls and pillars - is well worth lunch or dinner. The rooms with their historic high ceilings have all the facilities you would expect from a luxury hotel.||Last but not least, the staff, who were all very professional and most helpful. Of particular note were Richard (in baggage) and David in Concierge who helped us with our sightseeing plans and restaurants nearby which there are plenty

Yelp
Very nice hotel! I went out a little to stay somewhere with more historical and fancy style. I was here 2 nights and everything was good. Very comfortable bed, nice bathroom and formal professional staff. Cool art deco style design everywhere. Everything is modern and convenient. I highly recommend booking with breakfast included. It's cheaper that way and the cafe is one of the best buffets I've been to. I didn't do that I just went and figured it out later. I saw some tour groups there and everyone liked it. If you're on a tour and they include this hotel, it's a good tour company. It's about a 15 minute walk from the main train station.

Yelp
Not sure how this hotel gets an endless array of 4 to 5 starts. I booked three rooms, and two of the rooms the AC didn't work. Their response, you need to remain in the room and wait for the technician to come and repair it. Isn't this something you should have taken care of before a patron checks in?? Why is this our responsibility? The hotel is pretty much outdated and the curtains need a wash it's pretty dust y and needs a renovation. The tub/shower is in tight quarters and really isn't accessible for anyone with bad knees or any elderly person. The staff is hit or miss, some are extremely friendly, polite and nice. Some don't want to be bothered. A simple question of which restaurants are open late couldn't be answered. There is a nice restaurant cafe imperial next to the hotel, you would think as a hotel patron you would get priority. The hostess asked if we had a reservation? We told her we are staying at the hotel, she kept on repeating if we needed a reservation? I told her we just wanted to order coffee to go? I don't think I've ever seen a lack of communication on hotel staff. Asking about late check out is trying to understand Kafka's Metamorphosis. Maybe, 1 pm, maybe 3 pm, maybe 2 pm depending on which clerk you ask. Then it required a fee. There wasn't any consisting messaging and it was dependent on the person responding to you. The pictures of most of the bookings are outdated, and this hotel needs a major renovation. The halls look like something out of a Stephen King the shining. This isn't an antique, your going for a 4 to 5 star status. I wouldn't ever want to stay in a hotel like this ever again. The first night when the AC didn't work. The response was to open the windows. Couldn't open the windows because they were locked shut. The one exceptional thing about this hotel is it's location. Everything else was an epic fail. I really wanted the hotel to get a 4 to 5 star rating but the AC is something that should not fail on any quality inspection. Two of the three rooms didn't have a functioning one.

Yelp
Our first time in Prague- stayed here for four days and we were in love with this hotel. Great location- only few minutes away from the old town square. More than that- great staff who are very friendly and happy to accommodate. Would definitely come back here!

Yelp
Pretty nice place in a safe and walkable area within Prague. Staff was helpful and the rooms were clean. Beds are also very comfortable. One issue, or warning I do have about this hotel is the showers. They are located in a raised tub with no safety handles. It was extreemly scary trying to climb our of this deep and slippery tub, and would imagine almost impossible for older people to get in and out of. I believe they will bring some bath mats to your room if you request them, Why not just have them already in the room? Don't get me wrong... this is a nice place. However, if you are older, or have limited mobility (and you like to shower) you may want to look elsewhere.

Yelp
My family stayed at this hotel for 4 days while visiting Prague and it was fabulous. The hotel itself is beautiful and very clean inside. The rooms were quiet and the staff was helpful and professional. The breakfast buffet was delicious - always kept fresh and well stocked with good service from the waiters. We got several helpful dinner recommendations from the concierge and she helped us book a half day trip as well. The location is great for getting around much of old town - a short walk to old town square (~10 mins) and Charles Bridge (~17-20 mins). There is a metro stop two blocks away which is great if you are taking metros/trams across the river or up to the castle. Would definitely stay at this beautiful hotel on a return trip to Prague!

Yelp
This hotel is gorgeous and walkable to old town Prague. My only issues were mainly in the bathroom, the tub was very hard to get in and out of and the toilet was rather low to the ground. It was also tight quarters in there. The Decour throughout the hotel is fantastic and the restaurant is pretty good.

Yelp
Location: short walk to old and new town Restaurant options: great restaurants and not too touristy Advice: take a stroll on the side streets. Amazing finds Sauna and gym: take advantage of this. Room size: standard to small Breakfast buffet: average. Omelette stations was weak Why am I only giving this 3 stars? Bugs in the bathroom! Never seen these types of bugs. I believe these might be water related based on how they walk. Almost like an eel with legs. I killed 6 in one night. Then moved to another room and killed one.

Yelp
We were here three nights and greatly enjoyed the art deco ambiance such as the porcelain murals in the restaurant, which also had great food and professional wait persons, as well as the friendly check in and check out service. It's also got many nicer restaurants nearby as well as sandwich places and a Starbucks and a short walk to the Palladium shopping mall that has everything else and to Republic Square where you can get trams to everywhere and pick up tours for all over the city.

Yelp
Midsize hotel with lots of charm desk staff is great. Rooms were large as was the bath. Nice decor very clean. Restaurant is above average with a large breakfast buffet at a reasonable price. Location can't be beat, close to malls, old town, the Charles Bridge and Lots of restaurants.

Yelp
Wow! Love this place! Incredible deco detail. Rooms are huge for Europe. (Note, I didn't say bathroom.) Despite small bathroom, it was beautifully appointed and very functional. Their bar is excellent, breakfast buffet is excellent. I will return!

Yelp
We've stayed there only one night and we enjoined it really! The room was great and the service personal polite and courteous! Everything was fine. We rate with four stars because our room maybe was a former suite and it only was separated by an wooden door to the neighbor room! We were very tiered after a great day in Prague, so we were not really disturbed by this! But in view of the fact, that this is a 5stars hotel and expensive, it was the reason for us, to give only 4 rating stars! Everything else was perfect! We can recommend this hotel!!

Yelp
The Art Deco decor added novelty to our stay, plus their pistachio ice cream was divine.

Yelp
Not really Art Deco at all. The hotel has some interesting history and was used to set up military housing at some point. The finishes in the restaurant remind me of beautiful old Turkish baths in Istanbul. The food here was decent. The zdelka was excellent. I did enjoy the meals here and thought that they were well-priced. The service was good and my introduction to cider was amazing.

Yelp
Staff are polite, rooms are relatively clean. I had an OK experience, though now I regret not going after other options I had. I selected this hotel, because they claimed it's a 5 star hotel. It's an expensive hotel and we stayed there for 5 night and paid 1500 euros. The worst part of their service was their "Spa" and massages. We purchased super expensive 90 minutes massage which not only was relaxing, but it was amateur and painful. After I discussed this problem two times with hotel concierge, they replied they cant do any anything! I think this is a 3-star hotel attitude. My suggestion: do not go to imperial hotel.

Yelp
This hotel is fabulous! Beautiful room, amazing food and lovely staff. Location was also good. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Excellent location and great size of hotel. Best hotel when I stayed in Europe. The breakfast was so delicious and it's included inside the package. Love the historical building and people were pretty friendly over there. If you visit there, make sure you try their onion soup, better than some of French onion soup in France. Love it!
