Art Deco Masonic Hotel

Very nice stay in a lovely period building. The service from check-in was excellent. Stayed one night. Although the room was a bit on the small side it was adaquate for a one night stay. The room had a doorway onto a common terrace which we did not use, our room had no other view. The accomodation was clean and comfortable. The bathroom spacious with a walk in shower. No safe in the room. We had a meal in the adjoining Irish Bar and breakfast in the cafe/bar at the front of the hotel. The breakfast was made to order from a menu and was very nice, probably the best breakfast we had had since arriving in New Zealand a week earlier. The location of the hotel is across the road from the ocean front and perfect for the town centre. Parking was in a leased lot a few streets away but you could park in the hotel loading bay to load/unload luggage. If I was to visit Napier again I would probably stay in the Art deco again.

My wife and I headed to Napier for the Art Deco Architecture. So what better place to stay than the Masonic Hotel? We had 4 lovely nights in the Hotel, eating in both the front bar and the rear Irish Bar. We particularly enjoyed sitting on the balcony as the sun went down, with a cup of tea. If you like Art Deco and Art Nouveau we would have no hesitation in recommending the Masonic. We would still recommend the hotel even if you don’t. The room we stayed in was well equipped, beautifully decorated, clean, and very quiet. Also worth pointing out my wife is vegan but still found a choice of meals in both bars. We would really love to go back someday.

This place rules. The hotel is beautiful. The rooms are excellent. There are great views. The restaurant is excellent downstairs. The staff are helpful and polite. The cleaners are wonderful and discreet. It’s right in the heart of Napier, with one of the best music shops just down the road - Music Machine. Also one one the best Pizza joints I’ve ever been to anywhere - Vinci’s. there is a great health food and cafe shop right near by too. One of my favourite places I’ve ever stayed.

Stayed here for two nights for a work trip. I would definitely stay again, for work or leisure. The location is great - right at the heart of the town and on the seafront. We found plentiful parking nearby for our hire car though we had to move it about a bit to avoid the parking rangers. We didnt eat in the restaurant but it was busy both nights. We had a bar snack and drinks and they were good. The staff at the front desk are super friendly and helpful and the restaurant/bar staff were also very nice. The hotel is a very wee bit dated in the public areas but it has tonnes of character and architectural features, is clearly being invested in and is very well looked after. The room was really nicely decorated in a contemporary, nice way. Bathroom is petite but also great. We had a door out onto the upstairs patio area. The tea/coffee facilities in the room were generous and included a small milk in the fridge - 10/10 for that! And all other amenities in the room too. This is a great characterful non-chain hotel and is very charming. For the money, I think it is really good value. |Note that they don't do breakfast but there are several very nice cafes nearby that do good options - literally across the street - so it's no big deal. Also, check out Monicas Love, a cool little laneway bar just up the road. We loved it.

We had the Pacific View room which was absolutely incredible. The room had everything we needed for our short, 2-night stay in Napier. The veranda overlooking the beach was amazing and we loved waking up to see the sunrise! The hotel fits the style of the downtown area and is close to all of the shops and restaurants.

I have just returned from a four night stay at this fabulous hotel. My room was wonderful and tranquil, all the staff I met were welcoming and professional, the location couldn’t be better, particularly if you don’t have a car. I will definitely stay here when I next visit Napier and am happy to recommend it. It would be hard to do better.

If you are coming to Napier, the Art Deco Masonic Hotel is the perfect place to stay. The rooms are clean, fun, and comfortable. We originally only had a booking for 2 days but loved Napier and the hotel so much we booked an extra 2 days at the hotel. Victor at reception, and all the hotel’s staff, are very kind and accommodating. The hotel is in a great location, everything is walkable from it, and you’re right in the middle of downtown art deco center. When we return to Napier we will be staying at the Art Deco Masonic again!

5 of us in 3 king rooms for 3 nights were so comfortable. So quiet, heatpump was virtually silent, great beds and bathrooms. Superlative, friendly professional service both in the hotel and restaurant. It was the best place to celebrate our 40th anniversary when we even had a special cake presented to us. And Victor was a superb and ever smiling presence with whom we booked in the first instance. Restaurant service top notch. Thank you!!

Cute Art Deco hotel across from the Napier Library and Art Museum. Walk across the street to enjoy the beach. Napier is filled with so many historic Art Deco gems. After the earthquake of 1931 that destroyed downtown Napier. The city was rebuilt in the style that was fashionable at the time, Art Deco. Today, these buildings are preserved leading to a large collection of beautiful buildings in a relatively compact area.

The room was comfortable. It cost $269 to stay here, which is reasonable. The customer service was impressive. Parking is free after 5 p.m. which is great! Very close to the beach, which is lovely. Stores close at 5 p.m., which was unexpected - so if you want to explore the shops, you'll need to do that early. Would recommend staying here!

This hotel is fabulous. Bryan, the representative who checked us in was extremely helpful. He added so much to our stay through his suggestions for what to do and making sure we had everything we needed during our stay. The historic hotel is extremely comfortable and located perfectly in the city. We also enjoyed a fabulous dinner in the restaurant. If they have availability, stay here! You will not be disappointed.

A beautiful hotel and had a wonderful experience. It was a shame we could only stay one night! My husband and I were there while we were on our honeymoon, and they upgraded our room to a suite! The staff was so lovely, and even left us a bottle of wine to celebrate. The hotel is right across the street from a beach, and was absolutely gorgeous and pristine inside. I'd also recommend the Emporium (the attached restaurant). While it was a little expensive, my husband and I agree it was the best meal we had our whole trip in New Zealand! Thank you for magnificent night!

The decor and detailing is seriously on point - out of the ordinary, carefully considered. They manage to integrate striking patterns, different textures and eclectic furnishings while avoiding straying into tacky or cliche looks. It's also got all you want in terms of comfort. Would definitely return! Stayed with my family, we took 3 rooms. The staff were welcoming, friendly and very helpful.

Love this hotel. Lovely experience. Wonderful staff, beautiful property, lovingly cared for and kept city. Napier is a gem of history and the Masonic is the most wonderful place to stay while visiting.
