Love this store! So many awesome finds. I especially love the art work and lamps. I usually find a cute skirt or tapestry also.

Google
I LOVE these stores!! They have been added to my "Happy Places" List. The staff was super helpful and knowledgeable and showed me things I didn't notice (like the fact that a rack with flowy skirts also had pants) and that you sell belts and on and on. Drive over an hour just to see your place(s) and it uplifted my soul as always!! 💗

Beautiful store. I love the selection of art gecko to choose from! I bought a cool lamp as a gift

I love this place. Granted I only visit twice a year or so, but I always get a great vibe from this Gecko place. Artfully merchandised.

The owner must not pride himself on the integrity of his words. This shop claims to be fair trade, which upon a simple Google search into what they sell will get quickly show you that about half of those suppliers are NOT fair trade. Speaking of integrity, he was incredibly creepy and inappropriate to my girlfriend when she was in there alone. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, but seemingly just like half of his products, his word is worthless.

I love love love shopping here! Always a great environment, and the aura is beautiful in there. All the workers are so sweet. Especially Erika she is so nice, very knowledgeable about the supplies I needed too. I highly recommend shopping here!

One of my favorite stores on Monroe street! I love the variety of jewelry and home decor. I also love the extensive selection of incense. I like coming here with people who aren't from the Madison area, and I also LOVE getting gifts for people here!

Been coming here for a long time, and I'm always inspired by the different items that are brought from all over the world. Great place to shop if you're looking for a fun gift, or that special piece of furniture to transform any space. Love how displays are regularly being mixed up with new products. Always fresh, always clean

Yelp
After visiting the shop on State, I decided to come check here to see if there was anything different here. I stumbled upon some iolite earrings! Iolite is my favorite stone, but it's nearly impossible to find anymore--and when I do happen to find something with iolite, it's iolite sunstone. So when I saw these earrings and found a ring, I bought them quick. I'm not sure if the store is smaller or just laid out a bit differently, but a lot of the earrings were on shelves behind the counter instead of on the counter itself (there were some displayed that way). Service was ok--they acknowledged me coming in and offered to get anything to of the cases or from behind the counter if I wanted to look at it. But the folks working were talking amongst themselves a lot, about people they knew, or when they can work, or the workplace, etc.... it was kind of awkward. It's not that they shouldn't talk, but when there are customers (multiple) in the store, perhaps simply concentrate on them for a few minutes instead of shooting the breeze with one another.

Yelp
This shop is absolutely beautiful, and stunning in nature. The furniture is gorgeous, the art is articulate and made to last. My favorite part were the clothes however. They were perfectly made, with beautiful designs and colors. The atmosphere of the shop was cosy and comfortable, allowing you to roam around without feeling rushed or uncomfortable. This shop was 100% one of my favorites while exploring the area. I've noticed a handful of comments leaving reviews that mention the person at the counter being 'rude'. However, I did not experience this. The Person who checked me out was simply reserved in nature, which i completely understand because i function the same way. If you're on the fence or find you're in the area, please please please visit. It's definitely worth it.

Yelp
Art Gecko is a wonderful gift store. They have a large inventory with something for everyone. I love their jewelry selection. Very high quality, unique designs and fair prices. The staff is knowledgeable and always helpful.

Yelp
Great items, weird & terrible service As some other reviewers have noted, this place has really cool, beautiful, items at pretty decent prices too. The downside is the owner (I think she's the owner) is really weird and rude. Almost every time I have bought anything there she acts like it's a huge imposition on her to go to the trouble of ringing things up. Last time I was there with my kid maybe an hour before close, We found a piece of furniture upstairs that we thought we might want to buy but thought I'd better plan to come back for it, there is no way she's going to get that bench downstairs in an hour. LOL So we bought a few pieces of silk clothing and a lamp and I was planning to ask when would be good to come back for the bench but she made such a weird big deal out of getting the lamp down, scolding and micromanaging her (quite competent seeming young employee) that we got tired of the whole experience and thought maybe we'd better skip the bench. Those of you who complain about being ignored in the store are the lucky ones, she's randomly snarly, snarky, sarcastic, or bitter seeming. Then for no discernible reason one time she'll be normal or even nice, but not based on anything different we say or do. I wish I knew another place to get these kinds of items because the thought of dealing with a randomly freaked out lady is just too tiring.

Yelp
If you are in the Monroe street neighborhood, be sure to find the Art Gecko Garden. The garden is filled with fabulous foreign foliage and antique artifacts. Then stop in to browse their selection of artisan jewelry, clothing, and furniture from across the globe. This store has great style.

Yelp
I have been an Art Gecko customer for several years, though have really come to appreciate it in the past couple years when I started buying furniture there. I have purchased several furniture pieces, all of which have been fairly priced, beautiful, and well made. The best part is the free delivery if you live in the area! The most recent shelving piece I bought is mango wood and black metal- it matches my West Elm desk perfectly but was so much cheaper. Very pleased with customer service and the other small pieces purchased such as jewelry and accessories.

Yelp
This Art Gecko Gallery (1725 Monroe Street, Madison, WI) is very clean and the people are super friendly. They have a great selection of unique items from around the world, especially Bali. They have artwork, clothes, jewelry, gem stones, etc. They bring in items regularly so stop by periodically to see what's new. No in-store bathroom but no stores in this area have in-store bathrooms. Excellent gallery. Highly recommended!

Yelp
I love this place for its unique and inexpensive jewelry. I just bought a very interesting silver ring and pair of earrings for less than $60. No matter what I've bought here, I never see it on anyone else- unlike chain jewelry stores with their cookie-cutter designs. Ack. They have another location on State St., but this one's my favorite based on their bigger selection, layout and (not insignificantly) the ease of getting a parking space right out front!

Yelp
I'm thrilled with the constant metamorphosis of Monroe Street, how just walking its streets takes you to all these quirky shops and galleries and chocolatiers... In this funky street, much less traveled (and less foot traffic) than State Street, is the second Art Gecko, which I LOVE. It has the same collection of jewelry of Asian flair (Indian, Nepalese, Chinese, and others) interspersed with GORGEOUS silver jewelry encasing the BEST looking stones you've ever seen. Frankly, while this store has everything, clothing, furniture, home accents, etc, I just drool over their jewelry, and have expanded my jewelry selection with a few pieces from this store..... The staff is VERY attentive, does not nag, and knows the meaning of "I'm just perusing"... Which is an A plus in my book. It's a little smaller than the one on State Street. But just by virtue of location (Monroe) I prefer it more.

Yelp
A quaint shop for women who like imported Asia/Indian craft work(s) -- jewelry, scarves, cloth purses/wallets, clothes, gifts, home interior. My favorit part is their very reasonable prices! Their store focuses on crafts rather than mass marketed trickets (i.e., tourist crap) some boutiques just order from catalogues. I actually prefer their Monroe store, just because it doesn't have the heavy State St. traffic.

Yelp
I love art gecko, so i decided to go to the one on monroe because i had only been to the one downtown. I was shocked to be treated so poorly by the people working there. A friend and I came in an hour before closing and were looking to buy something, but rudely asked for our clothes back for us and said we had to leave. I was flabbergasted and decided to take my hard earned coint to the downtown art gecko :)

Yelp
The women behind the counter regards you in a manner that makes you feel like you are scum of the earth, nothing more than an inconvenience to her. She makes the assumption that everyone is trying to steal from the store, and treats you accordingly. Also - that children under 15 years old are incapable of being in the store unsupervised. Someone else used the word condescending to describe the the manner she speaks to you ... to me that's an understatement. The first time I brushed the experience off as her just having a bad day, but in the 5 times I've been there I've never once had an experience that didn't make me feel like I should be ashamed of myself. I don't leave reviews but holy shit. She made the 10 year old girl I went in with cry. I downloaded this app just to tell people to not go in here!

Yelp
After a wonderful day out with my friend, we decided to stop in this art store with a intriguing facade. When we walked in, we were not greeted with a hello, but simply brushed it off. As we were inspecting their mediocre crystals, we were told to leave our bags by the register. Understanding to this policy, we proceeded to put our bags by the register, where we were greeted with the skeleton of a small dog. Maybe 11 years old and definitely suffering, this loose mut began hobbling towards our bags. We had some food in our bags, so I kindly alerted the woman in charge that she should know our bags had food in them, in case her sickly dog was to get into it. I was then returned with, "Just leave the bags," with condescending undertones. My friend and I continued to walk through the store, and alas, we were shortly stopped again. My friend was carrying a closed Kombucha (organic, of choice), and we hear from the woman in charge yet again: "normally, we would ask you to leave your drink at the front..." My friend said, "Oh, sorry, I'll keep that in mind next time." Maybe two steps later, "so can you please put that by your bags." This was the final straw. The two women in charge of Art Gecko showed me and my friend nothing but disrespect throughout our entire, short lived visit. Will not be returning. Dog probably won't even be alive by tomorrow.

Yelp
A really nice selection of craft and artwork from around the world, especially Asia. A nice selection of hand made jewelry - I am always able to find cool eclectic gifts for my weird friends! :)

Yelp

Yelp
I wanted to reward myself and my hands for their hard work by acquiring a nice ring from the local rock shop. After leaving there uninspired and empty handed I decided to go across town to Art Gecko and check out what they had. I simply walked into the place and knew I was where I should be. The atmosphere was open and cheery just like the staff. The knowledgeable staff had impeccable customer service, which I value highly, and helped me pick not one, but two rings that I am beyond happy with. They also sold me on some beautiful Indian fabric for my cushions which will make me go back again. Love it here and would recommend it to anyone.
