The Positano Hideaways, Positano, Amalfi Coast - Explore & Book

"The entranceway to Positano Hideaways is hiding in plain sight. Look for the picture-snapping tourists (it’s here you get that iconic shot of Positano from above), before a discreet staircase takes you down to a secret door. Through it, you’ll find yourself in four acres of peaceful terraced gardens encased by hot pink bougainvillea and clematis, surrounded by the scent of orange trees. A sliver of turquoise blue pool hangs unfeasibly over the sparkling sea. It's chlorine-free, unheated and deliciously refreshing, and has two padded loungers at either end. Above are five spacious and stylishly furnished apartments (owned and decorated by the chic Gaetani sisters) that offer stop-you-in-your-tracks views from enormous private terraces, watchtower rooftops and window seats, all arranged to facilitate gazing. Because gaze you will. The panorama is intoxicating, whether it's looking at boats pootling from mega-yachts to the Spiaggia Grande, the morning light moving over forested hills, or the view onto pinky Positano. And when you want to get closer to the action, a 10-minute walk leads you to classy restaurants, boutiques and gelaterias. Once a sleepy fishing village, Positano is now a magnet for style-seeking tourists, but you can pop in and experience its pleasures at leisure, before disappearing to your enclave of calm – and the best views on the Amalfi Coast. Highs The property clings to the cliff edge, with a breathtaking panorama of the cobalt-blue Med and fabulous Positano Various sizes of apartment to choose from, including the atmospheric Torre, an authentic 13th-century watchtower So peaceful, yet Positano is just a 10-minute stroll, an enchanting maze of family restaurants and artisan shops The apartments share a pool, and have access to a beach – havens in busier months Easy day trips to Capri, Amalfi and Sorrento; boats leave from the town beach Lows A 7-night minimum stay, Saturday-Saturday only Pricey, but the hidden location on this exclusive stretch is arguably priceless Boat traffic on the Tyrrhenian Sea causes a low, rumbling noise for some of the day, but it’s great for yacht-spotting You'll need to pay a security deposit in cash on arrival There are no facilities on the little beach, and it's a steep 200 steps back up to the complex. Don't forget anything!" - Harriet Whiting

What an amazing romantic and beautiful experience we had. it was after the traditional end of the tourist season, but the weather, normally rainy at that time, was perfect. The views, the service, the quietude and the purely restful interlude to our hectic lives were a godsend. Espresso on the deck above the cliffs, sitting in the warm sunlight amid lemon trees was a sublime start to our day. There were a few marvelous bistros and restaurants nearby to meet any traditional culinary desire. The staff was very helpful, English speaking, bent on service, and able to anticipate any of our needs. The included breakfast left nothing to be desired.

This hotel is excellent! My daughter and I stayed 4 nights and loved it! The views from our balcony were amazing! The breakfast was delicious! The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly! Take them up on their dinner suggestions- they will not steer you wrong! |The location is great because it is an easy walk into town but also right by a bus station so it is easy to take the bus back up the hill!! We will definitely stay here again!

This hotel is great! The view is absolutely breathtaking, the showers were very nice, the beds were comfy, the staff were very much helpful and friendly and the location was excellent. There is a bus stop right in front which is accessible and you are able to go to the town quickly. The front lobby helped us whenever we had questions about the area or about anything in general. This is a very great hotel and I seriously recommend it!

Hotel Pasitea is way overpriced and definitely not a 4 star hotel. We paid over $700/night for a very small room that was falling apart. The hotel does not offer water or bathrobes and instant coffee. The floors are all tile and very loud. We heard the people above us all night moving the chairs around. The balconies are right above the busy street. The front desk staff was very nice and accommodating, but the hotel needs updating. Each floor celebrates a different artist and the floors are painted , but The ART is tired. We will not return to this hotel. The location was great, easy to walk to the beach, but lots of stairs upon returning.

Art hotel was a nice stay with a beautiful view! It was easy to get to and is close by to a lot of great restaurants. The staff members were very helpful but there was one who stood out to me, His name is Ahmed. He was very patient, helpful, friendly and overall just a great worker. The trip flowed a lot easier with Ahmed’s help he made sure we had taxi’s, info on what’s nearby, and provided clear and concise directions on anywhere we needed to go. Thank you Ahmed! You were awesome

We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Pasitea! The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable, always kind and helpful even though we don’t speak much Italian. They gave us great directions for getting around Positano, excellent recommendations for restaurants and activities, and even helped coordinate shuttles to and from Naples as well as local spots. The balcony view from our room was absolutely breathtaking, and enjoying drinks from the hotel’s beautiful bar—whether in the lounge or delivered to our room—was such a treat. Highly recommend this hotel for both the service and the stunning setting! Our sincerest gratitude to the entire staff for making our holiday in Positano an absolute dream!

Art Hotel Poseidon is such a gem! The design is unique and full of character, blending art and comfort in the most beautiful way. Every corner feels inspiring, with thoughtful details that make the atmosphere special. The rooms are modern, cozy, and kept perfectly clean. The staff are welcoming and genuinely kind, always ready to help with a smile. The location is excellent, close to everything yet peaceful, and the views are stunning. My stay here was truly memorable — a perfect mix of creativity, comfort, and hospitality. Highly recommend! 🎨✨

The staff here are absolutely amazing! From the moment we arrived, we felt at home. Ahmed went out of his way to connect my fiancé with local event planners who helped coordinate a beautiful proposal, which we’ll always remember. Tony is incredible — he remembers details from conversations and makes every guest feel valued. The young men working in the café and lounge are equally wonderful, always going above and beyond to ensure guests are comfortable. The hotel itself is spotless, with stunning views. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and cannot recommend this place enough!

Yelp
Had an incredible stay at Hotel Pasitea! Location-wise, I really enjoyed being higher up the hill despite the treks down to the beach. First two days, we took stairs up and down, everywhere we went (according to my health app, one day we did 82 floors...) and that was killer. Definitely helps going around on the road and avoiding those demon stone stairs. Our room was high up on the third floor with an awesome jetted tub to soak our sore feet and legs at the end of each day. The bed is in the firmer side but still comfy. Also appreciate that they provide lots of pillows and blankets. The balcony is wonderful! Two beach chairs and a table with two seats are perfect for soaking in the fresh air and breathtaking views. Housekeeping and the staff are great! We didn't get room service during our stay but the housekeeper still handed us fresh towels and tp rolls (they're super thin) on our way to our room. Spidey senses are sharp! Also, there's no iron in the room do you just need to call and request. Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
The location is pretty good as it is semi close to the Sita bus stop !!! How to get here : you have to go down the hill and take the middle path down a couple of flights of stairs to get to the road you are supposed to be on !!! Once you are in front of villa Franca hotel at the end of the stairs make a right and it's about a two to three minute walk on your right ) . It took me like 40min to try and find this place as google maps doesn't work well in Italy I've discovered !! For what I paid I couldn't have been happier . I stayed here Thanksgiving Day . It was off season so I got a good deal on a room . For a memorable experience I suggest you book a room with a terrace and spa tub and keep your expectations to a minimum as again this is Europe so the ratings ( e.g 3 star ) are different . I think this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel which I know translates to a 3 star in America which makes sense given the price point . The only fault of this place is really the condition of the rooms which again is reflected in the price point . Expect some broken items or perhaps markings on the wall or stuffing coming out of the couch . lol Also walls were semi thin . I heard my neighbors having sex at 2am . Seeing them in the cafe downstairs at breakfast was fun the next day I tell you . That being sad the complimentary breakfast was good enough !!!

Yelp
We stayed at this wonderful hotel in Positano from October 11 - October 22. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay feel like home. The breakfast buffet was delicious, and I miss the perfect cappuccino and lattes. The staff was attentive and friendly and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. I loved our room which was modern, spotless and had great decor! We enjoyed our huge balcony and jacuzzi each afternoon while taking in the beautiful views. I am so glad I found this hotel and hope to return next year. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Positano. Thank you for a beautiful vacation!

Yelp
Excellent staff. Breakfast was cute and tasted good. Overall great room. Great views. They were one of the only hotels open in early March (the time to go to Positano! No crowds and the weather is decent) which is why we booked them. The staff helped organize a day trip and answered any questions we had before we came. So great and appreciated. Staff was there when we needed them every single time. Room 401 gets quite humid, especially after using the tub, and it needs a dehumidifier. It has a musty smell, but I contributed some of it to the old charm of the hotel and town. The shower drain also needs better draining. I called the front desk and they came up immediately to try to help. There's a laundromat around the corner (no stairs! Yay!). It's pricey- 1 load was 16 euros and included detergent. The hotel basically has a bus stop-it's right outside. Take the bus to get to places that you'd climb up to get to (Il Grottino restaurant and Restorante C'era Una Volta) and walk down to get back. Then, walk down to the lower places (beach, shopping, and La Cambusa) and catch the bus back. Pay the driver cash. For a more wide view of Positano's views, maybe a city-center hotel would be better. But, this hotel is really wonderful.

Yelp
Choosing a hotel for our first trip to Positano was difficult. So many choices and no real chains that we are familiar with. My husband finally settled in Positano Art Hotel Pasita because of the view, and we have no regrets. The hotel is situated above the village with breathtaking views of the Amalfi coast. The staff is the friendliest and most accommodating I have experienced and I traveled 4-5 days a week prior to the pandemic. They even had someone waiting at check in to carry up our bags, which was wonderful because we had a few steps up to our room. The art is beautiful from the floors to the light fixtures to the wall paintings. Breakfast was included in our rate and it is no frills. Prior to COVID it was continental, but now you order and they bring to your table. Scrambled eggs, a meat choice and pastries and cappuccino, but all fresh and delicious. The room was nicely sized and unique. Huge whirlpool tub, small balcony with perfect views. The bathroom has a sliding glass door with a hole for a handle, which does limit privacy in the bathroom a bit. Our air conditioner starting leaking and someone came up immediately. It wasn't fixable that night but they promised to have it fixed while we are out today. There are about 660 steps down to the town center. As an alternate, you can take the local bus to the square closest to the city center and walk 5-10 minutes down. If you have mobility challenges I encourage research as steps are non-negotiable. I struggled but it was worth it.

Yelp
We stayed at the hotel in August with our 2 kids and the staff was very nice. Views are amazing. They will help with restaurant recommendations and reservations if needed. Overall great place.

Yelp
Why 5 stars? Because we'll never forget it. --- --- --- This is the best view I've ever had at a hotel in my life. Granted, just about every hotel in Positano has a view that will leave you in awe, but we were very happy with this one. Everyone here was so friendly - from the front desk, to housekeeping, to those working in the breakfast area. Speaking of breakfast, quite a spread was included in the price of the room. This was really helpful because we spent two weeks in Europe and the food costs were a bit out of control. Anytime we could save a few bucks, it was great. Granted, Positano is a small town, but we particularly liked the location of this hotel. It was very central to most of the action, and near the halfway point of the mountain. I mention the mountain because if you've never been to Positano before, you are in for an interesting experience! The steepness of the city creates the aforementioned beautiful views, but it also punishes you when you're trying to walk up from the beach. Be prepared to either walk the long way along the road, or up the intense steps back to the hotel, if you're going to visit the beach. The good news is that this hotel is around that median point of the mountain - so whether you're looking to head up to some restaurants or shops, or down to the beach, you'll won't have *as far* to go as you might with other hotels. There were only two things I didn't love about our experience, but with the caveat that these things would have been true no matter where we stayed in Positano, at least according to my research. 1) We visited the last couple of days of April. It was warm out, but apparently they don't turn on the AC until May. This caused us to have to keep the window open, and it was a bit loud with sirens and various other road noise throughout the night. We didn't wake up much once we were asleep, but while trying to fall asleep, it was a bit noisy. I wish the AC policy would be more about the temperature than the month - it was definitely warm enough during the day to justify it! 2) Our bed was pretty hard. Not much different than most of the beds we experienced in Europe though - especially Italy. So if you're a super light sleeper or like the room nice and cold when you sleep, try to plan your trip when the AC is turned on - you may even want to call the hotel to confirm when that will be. And be prepared for a bed that's not terrible, but probably not as comfortable as your own. But even with those two issues, we absolutely loved our stay here and would return in a heartbeat. Positano is one of the most beautiful and unforgettable places I've ever visited.

Yelp
Location, Location, Location!!! The Positano Art Hotel was the perfect hotel for our stay in Positano, Italy during May 2014. Our beautiful room, decorated in Mediterranean décor, offered breathtaking views of the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Amalfi coast from our room's balcony and romantic jacuzzi tub. Other amenities in our room included a minibar, satellite tv, air conditioning, and free WIFI in the lobby. The continental breakfast included a nice array of Italian meats and cheeses, croissants, pastries, cereal and fruit. We could not have asked for a better location. Our hotel was a short walk from restaurants and shops. It was about a 15 minute walk to reach the beach at the bottom of the hill. TIP: We made the mistake of taking the stairs our first day in Positano. It is much easier to walk along the road instead. Those stairs can be brutal even if you are decent physical shape! If the road is too steep or you are in a hurry to get to the marina there is also a bus that makes the loop up and down the hill.

Yelp
Positano Art Hotel Pasitea is a very cute hotel. Upon entering, the floor is a beautiful blue tile that immediately makes you feel like you have arrived on the Italian coast. The check-in is strictly at 3, so when we arrived at noon after a 3 and a half hour long car ride from Rome, it was a little bit of a bummer. The room had an amazing view and the hotel as a whole had a really cool vibe. The room itself was mostly white and very very cool, I truly felt like I was on the Amalfi coast! The staff was friendly and helpful when suggesting restaurants. A nice place to stay, I would recommend!

Yelp
Fantastic hotel with very hospitable staff including Tony the owner who really goes out of your way to help book activities for you, comfy rooms (with a/c!), wifi and if you can get a room with an ocean view it's incredibly worth it! Yes it's pricey, but it also depends on what time of the year you go. You're also in the Amalfi Coast so be prepared to pay more anyway. Breakfast is at an additional cost/day but it's a hot breakfast with cooked eggs and meat, and fantastic cappuccinos as expected. It's 585 steps (the stairs are right in front) to get down to the private beach which is much less crowded than the larger one (Spaggia del Fornillo) which is also a further walk. That means it's that many steps to get back up and during the summer, it's a brutal hot walk! There's a bus shuttle that runs around town every 30 minutes so you can always catch that coming back up. Breathtaking view from our room's balcony. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/positano-art-hotel-pasitea-positano?select=JUJD-7CgjLaU1P3VF-tg9g A huge thanks to our Italian neighbor who recommended ending our honeymoon in Positano rather than Rome. It was definitely life changing and I'm feeling very nostalgic already!

Yelp
Best breakfast in Positano by far. Charming hotel and best area for sunrise hands down. I highly recommend if you're looking for a great value.

Yelp
I have been in Positano twice and both times we stayed at Positano Art hotel! The hotel is beautiful and location is fantastic. Rooms has awesome panoramic view from the room's balcony. They serve Delicious breakfast every morning ! The staff are so friendly and the owner is the funniest man! I highly recommend Positea hotel! Thank you Gian Maria for the hospitality.

Yelp
We stayed here for a week when on our honeymoon and had a wonderful stay. When we arrived they tried to put us in a smaller room than we had reserved (and paid for) but quickly moved us to a larger room with a small sitting area and excellent outdoor space with a small table and chairs and two lounge chairs. The room was great! The hotel was a bit outside of the center of town but we liked it's location as there were less people everywhere Nd a quick walk into town. Town isn't far but a hill and about 120 steps! ...that we never seemed to get used to. The service at the hotel was excellent and they were constantly making suggestions of where to eat, what to do, arranging transportation and making reservations. Breakfast was included with our stay and it was a nice fresh spread everyday. I recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area who doesn't want to stay in the crowded town center.

Yelp
We stayed here for about 8 days and the staff is super friendly and helpful. Tony at the front desk showed us great hospitality and helped us with directions and recommendations. The rooms are really nice and the views from the balconies are amazing. Our breakfast was included and one the best breakfast options in Positano (eggs, sausage, croissants, fruit, etc). The lady at the bar always remembered our coffee order which was great! The bus stop is right outside the hotel which makes it easy to get on the Interno Positano bus and go down to the beach if you don't want to walk too far.

michelle g.

Yelp
This hotel was heaven! The views were spectacular, the room was a good size and clean. They had a great breakfast spread, with cereal, eggs, home made treats (they were different every day) and lovely baked good. The most impressive thing about this hotel was the staff. Everyone of them were friendly, especially Tony and the other gentleman at the front desk. They were delightful, helpful and would do anything to make your stay perfect. They are one of the main reasons we would choose this hotel again. We loved this hotel and Positano. The bus also stops directly in front of the hotel, so when you don't feel like walking back up 500 steps, you can catch the bus up or down the hill. Thank you

Yelp
I loved this hotel! Our balcony was peaceful and the view was stunning. It was so nice to grab breakfast and eat on our balcony each morning and catch the morning sun from the lounge chairs. The room and bathroom were on the smaller side but everything was clean and tidy. It was a little bit of a hike down to the beach and restaurants but it was close to walk on the road to other restaurants and shops. Would love to stay here again!

Yelp
Tremendous location with incredible views. I could have stayed on the balcony all day. The hotel is so beautiful with lots of character.

Yelp
Not too far up or too far down. Exactly 499 steps from the front desk to the marina! Helpful staff, great recommendation for dinner (Il Ritrovo, kudos for the free shuttle!), exceptionally clean and comfortable rooms, good selection at the breakfast buffet. Word of caution though, watch your step by the front desk. It is NOT well-marked!

Peter S.

Yelp
5 star view but that's it. They charged 15 euro a person for the complimentary breakfast, the queen mattress was two rock hard twins pushed together with the uncomfortable split down the middle of the bed, and the shower doesn't have any water pressure at all where you have to spend an extra 5 minutes almost rubbing the shower head on your skin to rinse any soap off. Maybe it was just room 16 but I'm sure any other place in the area for the price is better. Their shuttle service costs 120 euro each way to any main city for connections, something they told me for the first time literally while dropping us off so we had no choice but to pay.

Adriana F.

Yelp
We had a wonderful stay at the Pasitea Art Hotel! The views from the rooms are breathtaking and the location of the hotel was quick walk to the center and Beach!!! The staff was great especially Tony and Max!!!
