Art Ovation Hotel, Autograph Collection (Sarasota, Florida) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Florida’s Gulf Coast has long been a popular destination, but it’s only lately that it’s getting in on the boutique-hotel game. Art Ovation Hotel, though, comes with all the poise and confidence of an established player — it’s a part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, which means quite a lot of practical expertise to back up its idiosyncratic aesthetics and modernist-chic atmosphere. There’s an emphasis placed on contemporary art here, and a gallery dedicated to seasonal exhibitions; public spaces include the lively Overture Restaurant and Gallery Lounge and the colorful Perspective Rooftop Pool Bar." - Tablet Hotels

This property is absolutely wonderful! I am in the hospitality business and this hotel exemplifies superior guest service, cleanliness and an overall high quality experience. From the warm and friendly greeting by the valet and Mike at the front desk to the Manager’s on duty welcoming each guest. Front desk associates in the industry could absolutely learn a thing or two from Mike! We also thoroughly enjoyed meeting Sara at the lobby bar. It’s so nice to actually engage with the staff and guest to know them! The hotel location is excellent and the hotel is absolutely beautifully designed and appropriately decorated for the art district it is located in. We will definitely return and will highly recommend business associates, friends and family to stay here when in Sarasota!

We loved our stay at this hotel. The service from every person we encountered went above our expectations. Friendly, polite and helpful in each interaction. Dinner and breakfast at the restaurant were outstanding. The Mediterranean food was delicious and presented beautifully for dinner and our server Joe, delivered a great breakfast. The rooftop bar and pool were great as well. Great views of the city and gorgeous sunsets! We loved all the art work and live artists showing their talents. We cannot wait to go back!

I meant to post this earlier….I had the pleasure of the Art Ovation Hotel experience once again…one of my favorite hotels in Sarasota. Kudos to the folks that make my Sarasota visit a delight: Artem E., a true gentleman—always, John D., shuttle driver (and the most # of positive comments in the history of AOH!), Josh, shuttle driver: SO accommodating, polite and lovely…you really made our trip requests and destinations a possibility and we appreciated you SO MUCH! Sarah at the lobby bar: always a pleasure to see you, my dear…I always make it a point to visit you! Also, Kristen (Kristin?) who worked at the lobby bar one night (I think she usually works Perspective)…thank you for your service and conversation…you handled those fancy drink orders (decaf espresso martinis) very well…as well as my charcuterie order and packed up what I could not finish. Monique in the Gift Shop…thank you for the Eight +Bob fragrance samples. Also, very nice meeting the new GM Wes…and sorry that I missed you Robyn Holl (I hear you were in Sweden on a family adventure, so cool!) Anyway, hope to see you all again as soon as I can visit again. I just love me some Art Ovation Hotel! Until next time…❤️❤️❤️❤️

My wife and I came to this place four years ago and had a great experience. The kitchen is great and I think their french fries might be the best hotel french fries. The rooftop is quiet and relaxing. This time we brought the kids back and it accommodates really well with the family. The service was outstanding, and the staff went over and beyond to make us feel VIP. Walking distance to all the Main Street attractions and there’s a trolley that goes to the village and the siesta key beach every 15 minutes so once you’re down here, you don’t need your car.

We just returned home after a 4-night stay at the Art Ovation Hotel. My family and several friends were visiting Sarasota for a family gathering. The hotel is conveniently located in downtown Sarasota. Many nice restaurants and boutique shops are within walking distance (less than 10 minutes from the hotel). Our experience with the hotel and its staff was very positive. All the hotel staff we met were very friendly and helpful. Upon arrival we were greeted by the valet, Tony who welcomed us and helped with our luggage. The receptionist was very pleasant and checked us in without any problem. Our rooms were neat and pleasingly furnished. Concierge service included restaurant recommendations and shuttle scheduling. The shuttle driver, John, was very friendly and talented. His impersonations of Howard Cosell and Rodney Dangerfield were entertaining and made our night out even more memorable. Our servers at the Overture restaurant were also very friendly. And the food very good. The rooftop bar and pool are a highlight and worth the trip to the top floor. One word of caution, if your room is on the 7th floor you may hear some of the music from the rooftop bar late into the night on Friday and Saturday. We enjoyed our stay very much and will stay at the Art Ovation again during future visits to Sarasota.

I want to give a big thanks to Johnny D and Jim Art. You guys are great. Your service is A+. We've been coming here for four years. My husband and I actually got married here, and we've been coming every year since, and we can't complain one bit. We actually look forward to seeing these gentlemen every time we stay at the Art Ovation.||You guys really make our vacation delightful; your fun, funny, and reliable. The best hospitality ever, I must say. Being in the hospitality business for over 20 years, it's very rare to see this kind of service. So, thank you; we truly appreciate you. We'll see you soon.||Love,❤️|Tara Mia Casella

Google
Really enjoyed our stay at the Art Ovation Hotel! The location is perfect—just a short walk to Main Street and tons of great restaurants. The hotel has a stylish, creative vibe that fits perfectly with the Sarasota arts scene. John, who drives the shuttle, was a highlight—super friendly and genuinely entertaining. We looked forward to every ride with him! The rooftop pool was the perfect spot to relax in the afternoons—very hip, with great views and a fun atmosphere. Would definitely stay here again!

Google
I can not express enough how beautiful this place is. From the moment we arrived the valet were all curious and professional. The staff at the front desk were amazing and helpful. The location was the perfect spot. The roof top bar had amazing views. The food was good and drinks were yummy as well. The rooms were clean and well supplied. The only downfall was the service at the restaurant downstairs for breakfast. The service was very, very slow and not the friendliest but we looked past that because everything else surpassed our expectation.

Yelp
My favorite hotel in Sarasota! We've stayed here 3 times in the past year. There are always fun things scheduled on the weekends. This weekend they had live music in the lobby and the rooftop, a DJ at the pool later on, meet and greet with an artist, and a summer art mart! This hotel has a perfect walkable location to downtown shops and restaurants. Only one suggestion... change the welcome cocktail back to the grapefruit rum punch! ;)

Yelp
Art Ovation Hotel in Sarasota is a modern, art-inspired boutique hotel in the heart of downtown, within walking distance to the arts district, bayfront, and top local restaurants. The property is widely praised for its extensive art installations, rotating exhibits, and immersive offerings such as art supplies, a ukulele!! and an artist sketch book for guests in each room. This is a Marriott managed property for all you Bonvoy members, like me. Staff is friendly, attentive and provides great service. Rooms are spacious, comfortable with modern décor, and equipped with Nespresso machines!! There's an awesome rooftop pool and bar, which offers great views, quality food, and drinks-- and features live music on occasion, though it sometimes closes early compared to most places in town. Other notable amenities include complimentary beach chairs, bike rentals, and a fitness center. The location is Center City right next to all of the theaters and a few miles from Lido Beach- it's a small boutique hotel with six floors only. Valet is expensive, but here's a PRO TIP-- there is a public lot directly behind the hotel that can save you significantly, $15-$18 overnight versus $40 a day valet it's even connected to the 3rd floor of the hotel ;) The lobby is beautiful with comfortable lounge seating, with art installations everywhere on the rotating basis and all of the art is for sale which is impressive. Often there is live music in the lobby and a nice sized square bar. There is a Mediterranean restaurant connected to the hotel (if not part of the hotel) which I haven't eaten at, unfortunately because there are 15 to 20 restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. This is a favorite hotel in Sarasota for me when I'm traveling for work once a month, but the price can be outrageous during snowbird season :(

Yelp
This is our favorite hotel we stayed at by far in Sarasota, providing shuttle service to our favorite beach, the main shopping center, and other spots. They also have entertainment daily, and at night they convert the rooftop pool into a nightlife spot where literally all the locals come to enjoy. It was so nice to be RIGHT in the action here - I loved it! They also have the best room amenities I've seen - having mini cocktails, canned coffees, wine, sunglasses, you name it! It was so thoughtful to have all this on hand. While here, we walked EVERYWHERE and didn't have to drive once. I love being central to all the best restaurants, coffee shops, shopping and nightlife while on vacation so it takes the stress of commuting out of it! We were able to visit so many cute spots within walking distance! The staff was also so friendly and accommodating. Even sent a beautiful little congratulatory desert and champagne to the room after I mentioning something to the girl during check in! 1000% would come back and highly recommend this hotel to everyone!

Yelp
This is our fourth or fifth stay at the Art Ovation. The hotel has not kept its standards up. Our upgraded room was tired. There were stains on the headboard. The porcelain in the bathroom sink was cracked. The shower head constantly dripped. The biggest bummer was that the hotel did away with free coffee and tea service in the lobby. The location is great and the common spaces are nice. We are going to look for alternatives the next time that we visit Sarasota.

Yelp
5 Stars for a beautifully renovated hotel, filled with art, and in an ideal location. This hotel is right by a street filled with excellent restaurants as well as community theaters. Right away, I knew I'd chosen a good one. As part of their amenity fees, you can use their bikes, but I suggest walking if the weather permits. The hotel has an art focus, with paintings on all of the walls, weekly musicians playing, a ukelele in the room, and a lobby gift shop that reminds me of the ones you'd find in a museum. It also has a lobby bar, restaurant, and rooftop bar. You could really spend a lot of time in this hotel, but again, I recommend hitting up the neighboring restaurants. The room itself was clean and modern, with a large shower (no tub), and separate door for the toilet. Overall, a hotel I'd return to next time I'm in Sarasota!

Yelp
Sadly, I must dock 2 stars for our latest hotel experience. First of all, we chose this hotel because not only was it beautiful and stylish, it was so conveniently located...with easy walking access to shops and restaurants. I remember having a blast here for our anniversary trip 3 years ago, so we had to try it again...this time with our son. On a positive note, the place was beautiful as ever...and possibly artsier than ever. There were more art (paintings, exhibitions, etc.etc.) throughout the place. It truly lives up to its name! The service was exceptional. I was especially impressed with daily housekeeping! Since Covid, this is one thing that irks me to no end. Most hotels stopped providing daily housekeeping...while keeping the hotel fees the same, or higher. How does this make sense?!? Now a few things that went downhill. I don't recall this being an issue before (if so, I wouldn't have rated it 5 stars before!), but the A/C was not all there. We set the temp to 65, and it felt like 70...so something just wasn't right. Also, the shower head was pitiful. It was so damn weak! I can't believe a top notch hotel like this had issues with their shower heads?? On top of these 2 issues, weak A/C and weak shower head, there was this other big issue. They no longer provided free, convenient parking. We had to valet daily...which racked up quite a fee, not to mention tipping. So yeah, things definitely weren't optimal this time around. We had some great memories here...but unfortunately, we probably won't return for the reasons I mentioned.

Yelp
This hotel was a great hit! We really enjoyed the life to it, when we checked in. They did not have the room ready, we were asked if we'd like to switch rooms with a different view and for that we were given- complimentary breakfast or parking, we took the breakfast! Delicious!! The room was spacious, I can say the rooms alone do need a few upgrades to give it that Luxury feel, I loved the nice robes, that's a plus! Rooftop is great vibe, great location.

Yelp
ROOFTOP As one of the few places in Sarasota where the public can go up to the top and enjoy the view.... I give it 4 stars for the view... As far as staying in the hotel itself.... I cannot comment on that.

Yelp
We arrived in the evening and there was no bellhop available - so one of the valet guys brought our bags to our room. Well, we went to the bar and then to our room and no bags! We had to go back downstairs and ask the new front desk person to find our bags. Thanks goodness they found them! It was very stressful. Our room is just ok. Our headboard is all scratched and needs a replacement. Not the best Autograph I've been to.

Yelp
DO NOT STAY IN ROOM 327 We're visiting from south Florida, here for a business meeting. The hotel overall is nice but I'm leaving this review SPECIFICALLY because we were placed in room 327 and ALL YOU CAN HEAR every night and every morning is people in the gym dropping weights on the floor, running on a treadmill etc. it's SO LOUD it literally wakes you from a dead sleep. Yesterday someone was in there at 6am. It sounds like it's directly above both beds, it's RIGHT NEXT DOOR. Who puts a gym on a floor directly beside peoples rooms with no sound proofing. It's like sleeping in a construction site.we got an off season deal and our total was $460 for two nights after tax with parking. I can't even IMAGINE paying for a room during season and getting put in this room. The front desk was dismissive about entire experience, they told us "they were at capacity" which is entirely untrue because when we booked we had multiple room options available to us, not to mention it's off season and Sarasota is a ghost town. The valet were some of the nicest people I've ever met. We will be leaving them specifically a great review.

Yelp
Art Ovation is a remarkable boutique hotel that place great emphasis on art collection. You'll find them in Sarasota, Florida on the corner of Palm and Cocoanut. The check-in went smoothly. My room included a comfortable king size bed and lovely sofa. There's an elongated desk with TV, a little guitar, mini fridge, snacks for purchase, lots of closet space, and a nice size bathroom. I'm happy to see a sketchbook and there are color pencils provided. I opened the book and see pages of people's artwork who have stayed before me, it made me smile! Every drawing is like an amusing storyline and looks really cool!

Yelp
The valet was great, he advised us self parking was easily accessible and we saved the cost of valeting which I thought was nice! When we arrived we were barely greeted, I've never had this type of welcome especially since we are bonvoy members and it wasn't busy. I asked if an upgrade was available but they said the hotel was fully booked. Our room was nice, facing the street on floor 4. One thing I didn't like was that they allow dogs, we could hear them barking during the night, I didn't realize pets were allowed at this location. We got a change to hang out by the pool for a bit which was nice and after dinner there was a pool side dj which was cool. The overall vibe of the hotel was cool, we really liked the art theme, it was a fun stay! I'd recommend it!

Yelp
Perspective Rooftop Pool and Bar is located on the 8th floor of Art Ovation Hotel. There are beautiful views of the Sarasota Bay in a relaxing atmosphere. The drink menu is well executed but on the pricey side. They do offer several frozen drinks and the drink presentations are nice. Management is visible to assure there are no problems. On Thursday they have an amazing band playing Latin tunes so you can dance the night away from hole watching the sunset. I can't wait to return.

Yelp
I was there with friends last night. Great view, great drinks.... except the gin and tonic that was spilled all over me from our waiter. The drink was literally dumped all over my lap and my phone by our waiter. The apology was fine, but there was absolutely no recompense on my bill. The least they could have done was comped a drink. But nope. Nothing. It took a couple hours for my shorts to dry. Not cool. Ovation. Not cool at all.

Yelp
Amazing! There is absolutely nothing that I would ask them to change. As Marriott Titanium members and top tier Hilton members , this was definitely one of best hotels we have ever we have ever stayed. Stay at the Art Ovation-you will never regret it! Excellent service at all food options-room service, onsite restaurant (Tzeva) and rooftop bar. Delicious food at all. Service in all aspects was amazing- from check-in, maid and food options- all amazing! Come to Art Ovation- it will be a special an excellent stay!

Yelp
This is a loverly hotel. Good staff. Good location. I appreciate the fact they support local artist's However, it does present a very big problem. At least in the lobby area, especially by the bar, they pump in so much artifical scent that you can literally taste it. it's a pungent, sweet aroma that I am assuming is suppose to smell nice. However they spray ao much that you can get physically ill, headache with a need to vomit. The stench also gets in your clothes and there is just no shaking it. The over fragrancing is just an unnecessary, disgusting addition to the environment and overall hotel experience. Been here several times and it's always the same. If you have any sensitivity at all to odors, you just need to avoid this place until they dial back the fregre

Yelp
Negative 1. Stayed here when they first opened, so geniune. Went tonight treated beneath them. Went up to the roof top bar and some smart guy said private party. Why not have a sign up if you have a private party at the roof top bar. Came back down to ask the front desk clerk. He laughed and said didn't you see the sign. Read your sign. Nothing about a private party. LOL. Your sign was about an art gallery. Someone was obviously mistaken. So don't stay here unless you like to be treated like a POS. Clerk was extremely rude & arrogant. Can you imagine how they do behind closed doors?

Yelp
Bottom Line: An elegant and artsy hotel centrally located in downtown Sarasota. My husband and I are big fans of Art Ovation, part of Marriott's Autograph collection, for our annual trips to Sarasota. We like the unique vibe, classy atmosphere, roof top pool, comfortable rooms and great location. Also, the staff is very welcoming, housekeeping does a great job and the gym is legitimate versus being a cramped after thought. Let's talk about the room first - on our most recent stay we had a large King sized room with views of the bay. We enjoyed the comfy bed, ample air conditioning, dark-out curtains, large shower, Molton Brown bath products and thoughtful lighting. The refrigerator and comfy robes were handy too. The location is excellent with walking distance to some of our favorite restaurants and eateries like Owen's Fish Camp, Station 400, Main Street Creamery and Buddy Brew (coffee). It is also walking distance to the lovely Marie Selby Botanical Gardens and Bayfront Park. We enjoy the rooftop pool during the day and particularly in the mornings when it's quiet. (As a side note, we visit Sarasota in the February/March timeframe so its mostly comfortable in the sun but various umbrellas offer shade.) The roof top comes alive at night but we've never been up there past sundown to see that scene. Unfortunately sometimes we see the aftermath the next morning. Also, sometimes the pool is closed for special events which is disappointing. This time we actually took advantage of some of the services offered in the $28 (plus tax) destination/resort fee. One day we took out the janky beach cruisers which was fun but a little nerve wracking at times. The good news is we didn't get hit by any cars or hit any pedestrians and only one dog barked at us. We enjoyed a short, casual pedal around town but I wouldn't want to go too far on them given a general lack of bike lanes, traffic and road construction. The destination/resort fee also includes a shuttle service to places within a three mile radius. Having Alex chauffeur us to St. Armand's was terrific. Traffic and parking in that part of town is hectic and it was nice that we could relax on our way to and from dinner. Art Ovation used to include free self-parking but it's now $20 a day or you can valet for $35 a day. The valet was able to quickly retrieve cars but self-parking is pretty convenient too and accessible from the third floor of the hotel. Thumbs up for the cocktail upon check-in, the fun lobby store, lobby coffee/tea in the mornings and the well appointed gym. Hotels are a little tricky for me to Yelp because I think there is an unconscious but direct correlation in the selected star rating based on the rate paid and associated expectations. But rates can vastly differ depending on the time of the year, day of the week and special events and that inevitably factors into my rating. For $300 a night I think this is a terrific hotel but for $700 I'm less enthusiastic. Anyway, chances are good that we'll be back next year.

Yelp
The rooftop bar at art ovation is a great place to gather for a post-work cocktail and watch the sun set. Located in downtown Sarasota and with a gorgeous view of the bay, it provides a lovely atmosphere. Enter the hotel and take the elevator up to the top floor. There is a pool and patio area with a bar. There were a few people taking photographs here. The drinks are expertly made, and when we went with a group of several people they were quick to accommodate us. They have a menu for small bites too which were decent enough.

Yelp
After a last-minute booking, (read: two hours before check-in), I have VERY mixed feelings about this hotel. There are many pros and some serious cons. The best way to explain is through a stream of consciousness... -Great location near all the action and wonderful restaurants. -Rooftop pool is refreshing, has a bar area and the pool chairs are comfy! -But no swimming past like 7pm??? Lame. -Room has lots of amenities, albeit some are a little kitschy, varying from a ukulele (which I LOVED) to an iPad-controlled radio system (felt like they were trying too hard...it's just a radio). -Bed was a little too hard for us, ouch. -Very artsy, high-end feeling throughout the hotel. -Burying the lead here but there was a SERIOUS mold/water damage stain happening above our shower. Also, being that the shower is black tile, I was panicking about what other mold I wasn't ABLE to see that might be lurking! Who knows?! Like I said, mixed feelings!

Yelp
Looking back, I enjoyed my stay here so I'm giving them a five with the caveat that the phones and remotes should get cleaned (but most hotels do not clean those).
google avatar

Michele R.

Yelp
Nice and affordable hotel in downtown Sarasota. It's walking distance from the local bars and restaurants. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel was strict on social distancing which was great, and our rooms were very clean. The pool and rooftop bar have an awesome view overlooking Sarasota - the pool is also heated! Parking is free. 10/10 recommend!

Hazem M.

Yelp
I give this hotel an A for being innovative. It is a breath of fresh air for the ways hotels are designed I. The US. The rooms are big and the bathrooms are modern. The rooftop bar is really neat but lacks the edge. Now the negatives: The sound proofing in the hotel is not the best if you happen to have noisy neighbors. Also, stay away from rooms on the 7th floor that are right below the rooftop bar with if you plan to sleep by midnight (or by 3AM on weekends for that matter). The reception staff is generally friendly but some are a bit lacking in genuine customer service or common sense, unfortunately. In short, great facility but with rooms for improvement on many fronts.

Yelp
This place is the best! Smells amazing! Is very very clean! The details are so amazing! Got an amazing deal. Food is good location is nice. Wish they where on the beach! It's nice that they have a shuttle.

Yelp
I absolutely lovedddd this hotel. It's so Artsy, Luxurious & Sexy! We visited in late June 2020, so it was pretty empty. I can tell during normal operations it's even more amazing. All of the staff are adhering to CDC guidelines by wearing their masks the entire time and the correct way. I appreciated that hand sanitizer were in all the elevators and walkways. The rooms were spacious and clean. Awesome Bay & City views from our 5th fl room. The hotel staff provided OUTSTANDING customer service from the time we arrived and departed. Located downtown and within walking distance to shops and restaurants. 5 min drive to Lido Beach and Convenient Parking. There is a Public parking garage (No fee during our stay) next to the hotel. It was connected by a walkway on the 2nd floor. Overall, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL.

Yelp
I have very mixed feelings about this hotel. I want to love it, but I just don't. It just tries too hard to be showy and fun, but drops the ball on basic service and important details. Covid precautions - I stayed over the Christmas holiday and the unfortunate serge of Omnicron. Shocker, no staff were wearing masks! I was less worried about me and more concerned for them considering the volume of people they interact with. I was in Miami at the W the week before and all the staff were wearing masks. Upgrades/Bonvoy - I have Ambassador status with Marriott, but wasn't given an upgrade or even really acknowledged. I am not a status snob, but considering I was spending mega points on the room, it would've been nice. The complimentary continental breakfast is only served in the restaurant. I asked if I could order via in-room dining since I wasn't comfortable and was told "there's an outside dining area" Not great service nor smart COVID precautions. Room service - I ordered breakfast and dinner several times during my five night stay. The bacon cheeseburger was delicious and I was impressed with how it was properly cooked based on the temp I requested. Usually places ask, but ignore this request. Breakfast (eggs/bacon/sausage) was good. My complaint with room service is the lack of consistency and missing items. Despite coming with bacon, the burger had bacon for one order but not another. Breakfast was served with English muffins but no butter or jam. The second day, I requested butter/jam, but only got jam. Such things normally wouldn't bug me but when you're paying a lot for in-room dining (plus the FL fees/taxes), you want it to be correct and enjoyable. Rooms - The walls are THIN!! I got to know my neighbors pretty well - from business calls to bedroom activities. You can also hear guests as they walk through the halls. This made me very self aware when on the phone in my own room - I don't want everyone knowing my business. They have musical instruments in the rooms for guests to play/buy - cute idea but not great in conjunction with thin walls. The iPad used for radio and guest services is nice but it wasn't always working and I had to call my room service orders. Not a biggie, but if you offer it, it should work. Billing/Payment - I was over charged by almost $500 and I've had to make several phone calls to get things sorted out. I was told to sort it out with my bank. Not the best approach for excellent service. If I am in the area again, I will try the Ritz next door or one of other Bonvoy hotels. This one isn't worth it.

Yelp
We are longtime Bonvoy clients originally based in Europe and have enjoyed all levels of service within the Bonvoy family as Centurion Amex card members for business. I have never experienced such unprofessional service at a Bonvoy property as that shown at this hotel by the Front Office supervisor Mackenzie Janssen that had an overbooked property and as Bonvoy status members took upon herself the task of cancelling our reservation 15 minutes before our arrival. We arrived at the property after a 6 hour drive to be welcomed by her colleague Russ who had no idea of what was going on except for the fact that they appear to be in the habit of overbooking and cancelling clients as they did with us asking us at 10pm to find another property downgraded from the Autograph Collection group. Ironically enough, we had just initiated the process of enrolling in the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant Amex Card which we will immediately decline thanks to the cold reception given to us loyal customers by Jansen and her team. We'd recommend any other of the many exceptional hotels in the downtown area of Sarasota such as the Hilton just across the street that was unfortunately at capacity but is much more superior and offers much better views / accommodations and most importantly is not in the habit of turning out loyal customers. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

Yelp
I loved my stay at the Art Ovation Hotel in Sarasota Fl!!! This was perfectly central to restaurants, the bay, as well as the famous Unconditional Surrender sculpture. The hotels art theme is incorporated throughout your experience to give you a unique stay. The rooftop bar is so beautiful. We enjoyed incredible drinks and even more incredible view of the city and the ocean from a distance.

Yelp
Every time we come to Sarasota and stay at the Art Ovation we are never disappointed. You will be greeted with their signature scent, which is relaxing from the moment you step in. If you drive --be sure to valet your car with Alfred. He provides bike glove service all the way.

Yelp
The hotel was very beautiful - there is art everywhere. There is also an opportunity to get a guided tour of the art throughout the hotel - that was included in the $28 resort fee. They also have bikes, beach chairs and a cooler, and a shuttle - all included. The gym was nicely appointed, as were the rooms. The pool was beautiful Unfortunately, staffing was a problem- At times there was only one person at the front desk. Not a problem, unless there was a line- each person got individualized attention, but those were waiting were not acknowledged or apologized to for the wait. Valet also was sometimes short-staffed. Same thing in the restaurant. We waited 15 minutes to be greeted, and then were told they were no longer serving breakfast - as of 5 minutes ago.Other staff had walked by but were only attentive to their tables. My biggest disappointment was the lack of staffing at the pool. I had left my jacket on a deck chair at 4PM. 6PM it was gone, and noone knew where it could have gone. I checked everyday for the remainder of my stay, but to no avail. I felt that if te pool had been better staffed, they would have placed my jacket somewhere safe - unless one of them actually took it.

Yelp
This place was great! We were contemplating where we wanted to go for our vacation. We settled in on Sarasota and this beautiful hotel Art Ovation in the downtown area of Sarasota. This hotel was awesome. The staff was A-1, they gave us everything we needed. They gave us the option to self park which was huge for me. They gave us a shuttle to Lido Beach, which we had a great time. We will be coming back. Love you Sarasota and Art Ovation Hotel!

Yelp
Have stayed here quite a few times and always enjoyed ourselves. Tonight was extra special due to Todd and Alex at Perspective Rooftop Bar Private party at a separate part of the rooftop but made us feel extra special even though we were not part of that. Amazing cocktails and top notch, friendly service Hate going home to the snow in a few days and can't wait to come back to this warm, sunny, friendly service Thank you again to the entire staff for making our stay here so amazing

Yelp
Great hotel in a perfect area. Location is king. This hotel is in the most perfect walking distance to restaurants, bars, boutiques and salons. Also, a short walk to the marina and a short drive to beach and at armands circle. The hotel had a Miami vibe - really cool art on the walls and cool art structures around the property. I loved how clean and modern it is. Rooftop pool and bar was convenient. Every day we went for a walk around downtown. The only problem we had was our hotel room was next to the gym and every morning we were woken up from the sound of the treadmill, the gym door shutting, and dumbbells hitting the ground. That part I wish was better - the walls seem thin and that seems to be a complaint on here. Room service dessert was fabulous. Being mid pandemic they suspended room cleaning which is totally understandable to keep both parties safe. I will definitely be back and recommend staying at this hotel .

Yelp
Great hotel! Spent most of the week as a guest in the hotel. Pros - *4 star and beautiful rooms and property * free parking in garage (they validate your ticket) * pool / bar on roof * Molton brown products in bathroom * cozy beds * modern shower * LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION - the location is the best part of this place. Steps to downtown, farmers market, the marina and a short drive to at armands circle * great breakfast for room service * gave us late check out for our evening flight. Cons * goes with being in Florida during a pandemic but I wish the front desk enforced guests wearing masks in lobby a bit more. * our first half of the stay our room was right next to the gym. Every morning we were woken up to people running on a treadmill and the sound of free weights hitting the ground. That part really stunk. They should look into getting the walls padded or sound proof. I would def stay here in future. In fact i have given this hotel to our marketing company who throws a mini conference in Sarasota every other year this hotels info in suggestion to have guests stay here. Highly recommend

Yelp
This is one of the most unique hotels in the Marriott collection that I have stayed at! The hotel is absolutely stunning and the hotel offers tons of unique extra touches and amenities. From the moment you step foot in the hotel you are surrounded by amazing art from local artists. All of the art is available for purchase. As Platinum Elite members we were upgraded from a partial city view to a stunning full city view of downtown Sarasota. Our room was sleek and modern and included the most comfortable bed with luxurious bedding, plush towels and Molton Brown toiletries from London, Nespresso coffee maker, complimentary water, and plush robes. The small touches did not go unnoticed. Modern glassware was available instead of boring coffee mugs and tumblers, a sketch pad and color pencils were available for doodling, and a unique rubber duck was present in our super chic bathroom. iPads are available in each room to order room service. There is a $22 mandatory resort fee so take advantage of the valet parking, resort shuttle and complimentary cocktail hour (includes a glass of wine and art tour). The shuttle will drive you anywhere up to a 3 mile radius and can be reserved for specific times so we used it to take us to dinner and my husband had it take him to his early morning business meeting. The rooftop pool is super sexy and had a chic bar that was unfortunately packed on our arrival. Since we had our baby with us we only lingered for a moment to enjoy the view. Chances are that I won't be returning to the pool since it had an adults only vibe. So why not 5 stars? Unfortunately we found out the rooms weren't very soundproof around bedtime. The couple next to us weren't extremely loud, but I could hear them talking and couldn't drown out the sound of the gentleman's smoker cough with our baby sound machine. I was also worried that our baby would wake up nearby guests with any late night or early morning cries. UPDATE: I am bumping up my review from 3 to 4 stars! In my haste to rush out the hotel I failed to check the closet and forgot my expensive Ergo Baby carrier as well as a Jos. Banks dress shirt and a pair of dress slacks. I didn't realize my mistake until several days after we checked out. Since we were at the airport and about to fly to the Bahamas we called the hotel and asked them if the items had been turned in. Not only did they find the items, but they were also kind enough to mail them to our house! I am incredibly grateful that the hotel was able to find the items I had carelessly left behind!

Yelp
Had a great stay over a weekend at this new Marriott chain. Pros: -Art. Different art pieces on every floor, but the whole building is filled with art on the walls, sculptures, etc. -Rooms have sketch pads, colored pencils to engage in your own art. -Property has bikes you can grab to explore. -They have a little shuttle to take you around town (I enjoyed when it was raining). -Ice cold fruit enhanced water waiting for you upon arrival. -Rooftop bar/restaurant. It turned into a club one night, but we missed. -Short walking distance to shops and restaurants in downtown Sarasota. Cons: -Staff at the rooftop bar/restaurant were slow and need more training. It took us an hour to get a hummus plate. First, they told us they were out after 30 minutes, so we ordered something else. But then they brought us the hummus on the house. I'm not sure what happened there. I had to continuously flag staff down to get additional drinks. Plus, I had to go over to the bar and tell them to close out my tab, while I was sitting at the pool. They still didn't bring my check over. Had to stand at the bar and tell them again and pay as I was leaving. Between the Ritz and Art Ovation, I preferred Art Ovation. If they provide their wait/bar staff more training, this could become a 5 star.

Yelp
we stay at marriot every time we travel and this time it was a disappointment when they told us we had to leave the pool at 2pm on Sunday because we had a child. i understand american culture enough to know that this is a common custom at a place such as this. my problem is that my family paid 2,000 dollars to stay at this hotel and were not informed of this policy until it was too late--we already flew here, paid for transportation to hotel, and unpacked our bags and paid for hotel. please update your website and app to warn people before they purchase your rooms. and, no our situation is not one that we can change plans last minute because of our child's medical situation.

Yelp
Loved it from the moment we walked through the doors and were instantly greeted by courteous staff. The artsy, young, and up to date feel makes this a gem! The pool is great, the views on the roof are gorgeous, and the rooms were stocked with technology and appeal. Thanks for a great stay!

Yelp
Our first stay was enjoyable. Loved everything about it. And then our second stay was a little frustrating. We checked into our room and it smelled funky. Like there was poor circulation with the AC or something. It just kept running and running and it made the room feel kind of muggy. We complained to the front desk and the concierge quickly brought us keys to a new room. The new room was much better but the sink wasn't draining properly and the water pressure for the shower and sink faucet was very low. Otherwise this hotel is in a great location with walkable distance to a lot of things and it's clean and presentable

Yelp
We loved this hotel! It was so elegant. Our room was super comfortable and so clean! It looked like no one had ever stayed in that room before. The bathroom was great. The shower spray was amazing and we appreciated the separate water closet. Plus, I love Molton Brown products. We stayed three nights. We'd planned on two, but extended to the third because we were so comfortable there. We really enjoyed the original art in the lobby and in the public areas. We did not eat in the restaurant nor did we see anyone else dining there, except at breakfast. It's in a wonderful location, walkable to many restaurants, shops and sites such as Unconditional Surrender at the waterfront. Unfortunately, we did not get to the rooftop pool/bar. It was closed during our stay. The self-parking is in a structure behind the hotel that you can access via a bridge from the 3rd floor. We bought the hotel robes at the gift shop when we checked out. They were that nice. Note, if you are a Bonvoy member, you can get a 10% discount in the gift shop. It's a very nice, art-focused, boutique by the way.

Yelp
Enjoyed a two-night stay here in December 2018. For such a new place, they seem to have most of the kinks worked out and service and operations were very smooth. It's located close to the marina and a short drive to St. Armands. There is also a shuttle that will take you within a three-mile radius of the hotel for free. Valet service is very efficient if you'd rather drive yourself. The lobby is like an art gallery, with a long open space decorated with a couple of sculptures and several paintings. The bar and restaurant is at the back of the gallery space and features a nice cocktail list. The rooms are plenty large enough with comfortable furnishings; they're just a little bland. They have sketchbooks and colored pencils as well as a miniature musical instrument, but precious few pops of color to stand out among the various brown and gray shades. I did like the tablet which lets you order room service, request your car from the valet, and let housekeeping know what time you want the room serviced. There's also an empty mini-fridge so you can chill your own stuff. A sundries shop off the lobby (something too few hotels have these days) makes essentials and gifts available. The public areas have works from local artists, so there's no lack of visual interest there. The rooftop pool and bar are a major plus. There's also a nice cocktail list there, which is different from the one in the lobby bar. The views of Sarasota and the water beyond are wonderful, especially at sunset, which makes it a popular place, so you may find it too crowded at times. I enjoyed a morning relaxing in the very comfortable loungers at the pool as well. I paid the small extra amount to book a higher-floor room with city views and found it was worth it.

Yelp
Art Ovation is quite a new hidden treasure in Sarasota. It's not your average hotel. This is also a rather delightful art venue. Most of the art is made locally at the Ringling College of Art. So it has a uniquely feel to it. When you enter it is quite modern and clean. As your eyes pan right you see nice seating and surrounded by amazing sculptures and paintings. The colors are inviting. The paintings are available for purchase and by all means the chance to hear the stories behind the art is a treat that I recommend. From what I understand the art changes about every 3 months(?) My tour guide was Margaret McCampbell and she is exceedingly knowledgeable about the collection. If you are an artist or like art... this hotel is a treat. Even the rooms have sketchbooks that they encourage guests to draw in. Ukeleles available for their guests to play. They even have opportunities for guests to join local art groups and paint/ draw /sketch. Providing a very unique and charming visit! There are 5pm tours (with wine) that will take you (to the different floors of the hotel) where you can hear about the artists and the topics that inspired and intrigued them about their art pieces. The influences are interesting. You might just smile looking at the creations. Sometimes you are really reminded that you are indeed in Florida. So many inspirations! The colors and sights. Truly delightful. After the art tour I had lunch there with my group in their restaurant. The food was as delicious as it was presentable. There were lunch sets as well as the regular menu. I had to try the salmon. Some friends enjoyed the tomato soup, and the also salad. We all enjoyed our food. The restaurant was a pretty venue. Contact the hotel and join a tour to see the art

Yelp
Beautiful hotel in the heart of the city! Close to everything! Unique and artsy décor flood this hotel, from the lobby (which is set up like an art gallery) into each of the hotel rooms. It makes for a really unique and special atmosphere (very relaxing!). Lots of fun things to do at the hotel, live music bands and musicians some nights, and even during the day. You can even take an art class (depending on the day and the artist being featured) or you can purchase a piece that grabs your attention! Great concierge service and valet service as well. However, if you do self park in the nearby parking garage, the hotel will validate that parking for you! Great views from the roof top bar of the city and parts of the bay! Just a really neat place in the heart of it all. I really enjoyed my stay here! I would definitely recommend it! *accessible entrance*
