We flew from Kazan to St Petersburg and it was a Sundowner chosen hotel, so I must admit I didn’t know what to expect as generally any hotel in the city centre are poky and offer limited services. Surprise, surprise, we arrived at 10.30pm and the restaurant still open welcomed us and even though the meal took some time it was worth the wait. I often wonder whether Russians have a drink with their meal at all as it takes a long time to get one before dinner. Breakfast to me was not my cup,of tea, but it seems to be a general Russian breakfast, I had coffee and found muesli in the end. Reception and restaurant staff all spoke English and were very hospitable. We walked everywhere, cathedral of spilled blood, summer garden, and through the city centre and got a feel of how Russians live and work. Bathroom small but shower has excellent pressure and a full bath.
