Low key a great book store. Differnt than your standard Barnes and Noble. Haha so very different. In such a good way. Small but tasteful. The front desk plays some low key dope music. Lots of art magazine and books. You can definitely lose a few hours here and come out inspired. The have a great kids area with awsome books.

Great bookstore nearby all these art galleries. Great selection for artists and the like. Located close to breweries and coffee shops and parking all around.

if I can give them zero stars I would!!!I stopped by this bookstore after the Guillermo Kuitca solo exhibition, which by the way was great exhibition. I heard the art book store at Hauser & Wirth had great collection so I went to check it out. I'm a huge fan of Lucian Freud so when I found the his book on top of the shelf, I immediately asked the worker if I can take a look at it. While I was looking through the book, another worker came and LITERALLY TOOK the book I was reading out of my hands and asked if I was going to purchase it. I had my eye on this book collection for a while because it was pricey (~$400) I knew I was going to purchase it but wanted to just take a quick peek before purchasing. I was livid, I mean I did go into the bookstore a little under dressed, but to have an employee discriminate me and belittle me like that was not only embarrassing, but hurtful. I had my mind set to purchase it today, but because of the horrible customer service I decided to purchase it else where. No one should be treated the way I was treated today at the bookstore and if you plan on coming here be ready to be treated poorly.

Bookstores are becoming rarer and rarer these days. This store is at the Hauser and Wirth museum. They have art books mostly and some old copies of famous books in the locked bookcase. Also some very cute souvenirs. I got a couple retro tea towels and The Hollywood History of Art book. The cashier ladies were very friendly and I will need to spend more time here to find more art books next time!

Little bookshop with lots of cool artsy postcards, and of course, books. Good layout with most valuable books behind glass. We spent a few minutes looking around and taking a break from the scattered rain. My daughter bought some postcards. Beautiful day to be exploring Los Angeles.

This bookshop is located within the greater Hauser & Wirth establishment. As the name of this shop implies, this bookstore focuses on books by and about art and artists. What they offer is a very good selection of art related books. This is a fairly small shop. But, that is not meant as a discouragement in any way. Their shelves are stocked full of great volumes of exceptional publications. They also offer a few other items like art related trinkets and the like. What I like best about this shop is that you can pop in at any time and find that great book that you may not even know existed. Whether it is a book by or about a well-known or an up and coming artist or the volumes of poetry books they offer, or that anything else, this is a great place to buy that book for your collection or for that gift that you want to give to that special individual. Great Shop!

Artbook @ Hauser & Writh : the most powerful and influential figures in the art world from Zurich colonized their art forms in New York, Los Angeles, London, ofc their homeland Zurich, Paris, French & Hong Kong. Remember without " the writer", there's no Torah, Bible or Quran. Thus, with a single non-reader, there's no official religions on Earth. That's how vital to read and write in the civilized society. The independent book stores has been shut down since pandemic & they need to survive post pandemic and creepy AI writing era. There is no sentimental about holding the book in your hands and reading it. The sounds of turning page to page makes your day lighter instead of scanning on the screen and scrolling down on iPad or whatever your laptop or monitor. The price is rightfully & I glad I bump into this. The museum is ok, which I didn't review about it but you have your reason for buying anything, books included helps you separate emotionally shopping. This could be an open spring door to dreamy art-book store in Downtown, Art district. It did remind me of independent bookstore on Lower East Side, NYC when I was young. Why wait? Go get some!

Books and selection are good. Some diversity in authors. What is ridiculous is to pay 25cents for a bag. Like how cheap can one be? Thats all.

Very nice bookstore inside the art gallery complex. It's hard to miss, it comes on the right side when you come off the street. I love bookstore so this one was a nice discovery. It's pretty big, it has a nice selection of art related books, some harder to find in other places. They have some regular literature as well, cooking books, kids books, a few gift ideas, cards. Nice place to browse around. Prices are high, but this is a nice place to get a gift or a more off the beaten path find for yourself. If you visit the gallery complex, pop inside the bookstore, it's a cute store!

I was visiting from out of town and thought I'd drop in and find something after finishing what i brought with me. But no, this store had other plans. Almost every book i recognized was one that i already loved. I found out about wakefield press from their paperbook section, so many great titles i had never heard of and then the real thing that makes this place perfect was that the big stack of thick photo and art books i found (a collection of life drawings of iggy pop? Jayne mansfield and anton levey? Vogueing? Angela davis in e germany? I did not know i needed these but i did) Etc but didn't want to carry? They shipped them, free of charge and not like Amazon shipped them banging around and arriving dented but meticulously wrapped and they arrived today in perfect condition. Thank you so much, i will be visiting this store any time I'm in the area till forever Such a beautiful space with a perfectly curated selection. Wish you had a space in Detroit

Don't know why I missed going here the last two visits to the galleries but I'm glad to be acquainted with this excellent collection of artistic books. There's even a well stocked children's books section and play area. Interestingly, not everything in the collection is new, there are also used and rare and signed books in a few cases tucked away from the mainstream of food traffic (personally I'd do that too if it were my store). I enjoyed the layout immensely. I took some pics of the highlights but needless to say there are thousands of more "stones" to overturn in here. The flip-books were pretty cool, so were the books on Black Revolutionary Jazz album covers. Later on at The Last Bookstore I came across one of the records depicted in the book (Rashaan Roland Kirk's 'Blacknuss'). So many great books, so little space. Oh well, better to be surrounded by beauty and the printed word than empty negative space!

Adorable bookstore nestled away in the Arts District. My friends and I stumbled upon it on the way out from brunch at Manuela. I especially loved seeing the various cookbooks, children's books, adorable card games like the picture I took and included in this review. This store has a lot of unique items that you wouldn't normally see at a retail bookstore. It's worth checking out. I especially loved the unique cards and the card games as mentioned. This place provides a lot of art work and some literature as well. Given that I've recently begun collecting enamel pins, I was especially excited to see some cute ones at this store too. PARKING Limited on the streets, valet available as well

Wandered into this cool bookshop by chance as we were waiting for our dinner reservation near by. So glad that we did, we got 2 awesome books for our son! I wish we would have had more time to explore. Pet friendly and there was a kids activity going on as well. Great selection!!

The only thing missing in Arts District is a book store focusing in art. Located in the Hauser, Wirth & Schimmel Art Gallery, this book store houses some eclectic books for modern art. There's even a small section for kids to play and children's art books. Definitely a cool place to check out.

Cute lil bookstore in this hyper-hipster area. Small sections for literature and children's book, but a bigger emphasis on art books and some cooking books. Fun to browse around when waiting for some eats at Manuela or when moseying around Dtla. :)

Wonderful selection of photography books, including numerous signed editions. I discovered several new artists and look forward to returning.

I really dug the vibe of this little bookshop in the Arts District. They had a lot of progressive books that reminded me a lot of my philosophy classes in college and got me inspired to buy some books that I might not ever get to but hopefully will one day. The layout was inviting and just got the vibe that a bunch of hardcore book nerds run this place which what you really want in an independent book shop.

Great bookstore, mainly for art, with some literature also available. I live close by, so I come here a lot just to browse and occasionally buy. What I love is the very eclectic mix of modern art books. A side note, but also very valuable: if you don't like giving greeting cards from Hallmark, or giving cards that are boring, look here! This is my go-to place for greeting cards!

This is my new sanctuary. Every book speaks to me here. It's laid out so that you can see every cover - excellent for quickly finding a book, or 100, that catches your eye. I love how there's a wide variety of books here, from edgy punk to fine art. There are also readings here, I believe every Thursday night. If you want a great, cheap date, you can come to a reading after you try one of the trucks down the street that are there every Thursday as well. It's also a 10 minute walk from the Little Tokyo Gold Line train station. All in all, there is pure excellence here. This is what the Arts District should be. And I'm glad to be a part of it.

One of the things that makes Artooks such an interesting bookstore is that they curate their selection in conversation with Hauser Wirth & Schimmel, their neighbor and benefactor. For instance, in response to the current HWS exhibition entitled "Revolution in the Making: Abstract Sculpture by Women, 1947-2016", Artbooks filled their store with an amazing array of books on women artists. something you don't see too often. This is also one of those places where you go in and pick up something, and the next thing you know, you have somehow time traveled about two hours into the future. Definitely make time in case you don't want to time travel.
