A restaurant worth the trip alone!
On our journey back from Granada to Malaga, we stumbled upon this charming little restaurant—and what a delightful surprise it was! Don’t be fooled by the humble exterior; inside, a passionate team has dedicated themselves to reviving centuries-old flavors. The chefs collaborated with a historian to meticulously recreate forgotten recipes dating back 400 years, and the results are nothing short of extraordinary.
We were a party of five and shared 3 starters, 3 mains, and 1 dessert, which was more than enough to satisfy our appetites. Every dish was a celebration of authentic Andalusian heritage, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor.
The service was impeccable—extremely courteous and attentive. One waiter, in particular, would smile proudly each time he passed by, clearly passionate about the culinary treasures they serve. It felt like they genuinely take joy in creating memorable moments of happiness for their guests. They also leave you with a copy of the original recipes: a sign of wanting to disseminate culture, rather than just keeping it for themselves.
We also enjoyed an excellent white wine—fruity with a subtle oaky touch—that reminded me of some fine Californian wines, yet it was a local gem from the region.
The setting added to the magic: we dined in a stunning 16th-century courtyard that instantly brought to mind the riads of Morocco, a beautiful nod to the Arab influence that shaped so much of Spain’s history.
Arte de Cozina is truly a place where history, culture, and gastronomy come together. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience authentic Andalusian cuisine with a story behind every bite!
(I am not eating the rooms because I did not sleep in there)
