How to Plan a Trip to Greece on a Budget

"A beachfront hotel on Milos that, though a bit of a splurge compared with other local options, offers strong value for a treat-yourself stay: it sits directly on the sand and hosts one of the island’s hottest beach bars." - Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca is an award-winning journalist and co-founder of Be a Travel Writer, an online course for the next generation of travel journalists. A beautiful seaside hotel with friendly staff. The rooms are set back a good distance from the beach but ours had a good view. The breakfast buffet was nice and drinks and snacks are served at the beachside lounge chairs. The hotel serves dinner and there is a good taverna next door but if you’re staying for several days, you’ll need to venture to other towns for some variety. Fortunately, the hotel rents cars for a reasonable fee. The beach is small and quiet so it’s a place to relax for a few days.

The Artemis beachside resort is simply stunning and the service is excellent. My family and I traveled from the states and we were certainly not disappointed with this resort. ||From the minute you arrive until your departure, you feel pampered and well taken care of. The welcome drink, and your bags being delivered to your room quickly are refreshing after a long ferry jet. The rooms are thoughtfully and spaciously laid out with minimalistic decorations. The outdoor patio is cute and well done. The breakfast buffet is excellent with everything you could possibly care to eat. The pool area is beautiful overlooking the sea, and the loungy beach chairs are comfy and relaxing. Artemis’s beach bar restaurant is casual with multiple dishes available and their main restaurant, Root has some delicious offerings which we enjoyed.||I have nothing but great memories from staying at this resort and I would highly recommend.

This hotel was a splurge on Milos for our honeymoon. In a secluded part of the island with all the necesities and accomodations, you would never have to leave if you didn't want to. You get assigned a personal butler ( Yassou George!) to assist with all your needs. The in house restaurant had an amazing fresh caugh fish for dinner that was filleted in front of us! The breakfast buffet is phenomenal with a fresh squeezed juicer and all the breakfast goodies. Try the hot chicken sliders by the pool.||We stayed late October in the shoulder season and it was mostly couples and friends. There was a bit of wind which prevented sailboat tours around the island.||I look foward to my next stay here.

Location is on a beautiful beach and staff super helpful and nice. Rooms were always clean and left us bottles of wine for our honeymoon. If you want to get around the island must have a rental car but everything is max 20 minutes away and finding parking is easy.

Artemis Seaside Resort is absolutely stunning! The view is breathtaking, with an infinity pool overlooking the sea, comfortable lounge chairs, and bean bags by the pool plus direct access to the beachfront. The breakfast is excellent, with a wide variety of choices: meats, pastries, fresh fruits, juices, and more. The atmosphere is relaxing and elegant ..truly the perfect getaway. Highly recommend!

The location of this hotel is very secluded and far from everything. At night, driving back is difficult, and without a rental car you’re basically stuck — taxis cost at least €40 one way. I rented a car for just one day, drove for less than an hour in total, and still got charged an extra €20 for gas, even though the gauge barely moved. The hotel staff (not including the beach staff specifically the staff at breakfast and concierge) seemed uninterested in the guests and gave off the impression that they were fed up with working there, which created an awkward and unwelcoming atmosphere. On the positive side, the beach is within walking distance, and the hotel provides free beach beds with good music. The rooms themselves were decent, but overall the negatives outweighed the positives for me.

Our second time back at Artemis, although this time for a whole week rather than a couple of days. We loved it last year although was only there for a couple of days we thought it’d be nice to come back to for a proper stay and booked a whole week in one of the rooms facing the sea with a balcony and hot-tub. Initially the room looks great as you walk in however the impracticalities slowly reveal themselves. The toilet once flushed continues to flush without ever stopping. The shower leaks out into the room. The bathroom area mirrors are at the worst angle and have hardly any light in this part of the room. There were no bed side tables which just feels awful and end up charging phones etc on the floor. The round stone things outside (like coffee tables) are an oversight because they get extremely hot. Any one of these things is no disaster but for the price you pay for this room (roughly 500EUR a night) the combination certainly doesn’t reflect the cost. The balcony/view/beach is lovely however and we still had a good time because of this. Breakfast is fine but it is the same thing every single day and gets a bit boring. They don’t give you a bottle of water so you rely on staff to pour water for you but in our experience it hardly ever happened. Around the pool in the day and down at the bar area / sun loungers by the pool it is also exceptionally hard to get service. They have two large speakers with a cheesy DJ playing constant pop bangers from the mid 2010s - it’s really not a good vibe for anyone and I don’t know why they do it. We would sit all day with empty glasses next to us and no water as the service was so poor. Separately after 5pm the bar area feels like a ghost town, it’s supposedly open until late but I feel like they make it dark on purpose so no one comes. We tried the restaurant once as the host on arrival said there was a new chef but honestly it was super over priced , no atmosphere, and tasteless. It’s actually surprising how it could be so poor. We had much better luck at the taverna next door. With regard to location we’ve seen others complain but we didn’t mind. Renting a car or ATV is essential but it’s a lovely drive out and most places are accessible within 20 minutes. The beach the hotel is situated on is one of the best on the island we found. TL:DR: it’s in a really nice place but the service is lacking severely, the restaurant is poor, the rooms aren’t well thought through. Lacking vibe/authenticity. We like the place but it is terrible value for money. It’s a shame because with some better management it could be easily transformed Update: had to move down to a 1* on the last day was served a ceaser salad on the last day with brown lettuce leaves (photo attached)

We loved our stay here, so much we even extended by a day! The transfer to/from the port, easy car rental, extreme helpfulness of the staff were really good touches.||The rooms were very nice and quite spacious. We had a balcony with a 'hot tub' that wasn't hot, but given the outside temps I'm glad it wasn't. The location is nice as it's right on the beach, however it's a bit far from the other main areas on the island. Granted, Milos isn't very big so everything is within a 25 minute drive at most. Being able to rent the beach chairs for free was nice and convenient, and although they were a little pricy, the food and drinks from the beach bar were good. Breakfast at the restaurant was typical buffet style with a ton of different choices so you could go any way you wanted to start the morning.||Everyone was super nice and helpful, 5*, would definitely stay here again!
