Unexpectedly the pictures definitely make the place look better than it is and I hastily booked without checking out the reviews. I guess it is a charming wee hotel and the lift an interesting feature however I probably wouldn't stay here again. The original room we were allocated wasn't the cleanest and having what appeared to be pubic hair in the bath was slightly off-putting. We were upgraded to a new room which appeared much cleaner but as others have said the bathrooms are dated. Location was perfect for us and the event we were attending, and luckily it was only an overnight. Personally, if you are considering this hotel you may want to just book a premier inn or travel lodge instead since you know what to expect for the cost. I'm also surprised no-one has mentioned the weird smell that seems to be around once you have used your card to get through the first doors to the corridor of rooms as well as the rooms themselves. This was prevalent in both floor 3, the room and floor 2 and the upgraded room. The windows in the room do not open and the air con is just a con as the room was warm and had no air all night, as well as the constant noise of the machine meant we were unable to sleep at all. We left at 8am, and the blast of fresh air when leaving the hotel is a feeling of relief we will never forget! Staff were nice and personable so no faults there.

Lovely hotel and staff. Bathroom was a bit tired but everything worked ok. Comfortable bed, room was quiet. Fabulous breakfast and dining room. The lift was a highlight for us. Very convenient parking in multi story directly across the road.

Terrible. No hot water. Phoned down and phone wasn’t answered. Second time phoned and was told to run it for a while. After 5 mins still no hot water for a bath . No hot water in sink. Tiny room with disgusting air vent outside of window. Huge crack in the sink filthy toilet door. Noise from vent outside kept me awake but had to keep window open because air con was rubbish. Had to perch a fan on a chair for cooler air. Room was NOTHING like the one pictured. In the morning still no hot water and the card electricity switched off. Had to get ready using our phones and leave without a wash ( in the dark) Staff lovely and can’t stress that enough not their fault . I listed all of these faults at check out and was told this would be passed on. There’s no room service and couldn’t get anything to eat when we arrived at about 10pm had to bring in takeaway food ( which they don’t normally allow?!) which staff said would allow. Still waiting for someone to phone to address this awful experience. I actually phoned family to see if they could pick me up so I didn’t have to stay but they were unable that’s the only reason I didn’t leave that night. I paid £186 with Expedia for a night stay here. Never again! Have videos of the water and bath and sink etc but can’t post only can post pictures. The pics are The ‘view’ which was 4 feet away from the bedroom window!

We paid extra for a twin room which I've never had to do before but a nice big room although some of the bathroom fittings were worryingly loose. Quirky old lift . Breakfast was the worst we have ever had anywhere, undercooked and inedible really and so short staffed we had a long wait too so wouldn't recommend this Hotel. The few staff there were very friendly.

One night stay travelling from London and onwards next day. Hotel ideally situated for both railway stations. Lovely reception area and interesting caged lift. Room was small with very basic quality wardrobe and no shelf in bathroom to put own toiletries on. But with window open too much traffic noise. Bed and pillows were very comfortable enabling a good night's sleep. Overall was ok but expensive for the type of room. I expected more luxurious fittings

Google
Truly awful breakfast experience. |Hotel chosen for style and convenience of parking. Cannot fault the friendly staff on reception. Twin room was huge and had super comfy beds. Bathroom pretty dated but clean. |Let down by shambolic breakfast service. Understaffed with waiters who ignored diners, did not wipe tables. Took 20 minutes to bring tea and coffee pots but we needed to ask them to bring the cups and milk. Didn’t wipe tables. Didn't advise us of obvious problems in the kitchen. There was no fruit at all but the kitchen didn’t communicate this to diners who ordered & waited with nothing to eat. We left after an hour as no food was brought. Left hungry & disappointed. We had booked a rate including full breakfast.

Overall a good stay with friendly staff. Hotel is in a lovely old building with a historic lift. This was our second stay and I upgraded to an enviable room which was large but not as luxurious as I expected from the description. It was particularly let down by the bathroom which was old and in need of refurbishment. Breakfast was good.

The hotel was walking distance to the city. Air conditioning in room. Bathroom was a bit small but manageable.||The staff were amazing - excellent customer service skills.||If visiting the city again I would rebook.

Yelp
Quaint boutique hotel with well-appointed rooms and a gorgeous lift! Check in was easy. The staff were friendly and quick to offer suggestions on where to eat dinner. Breakfast in the hotel cafe was delicious! A parking garage is just across the street making parking easy and the hotel offers a discount code. We would definitely stay here again if back in Glasgow!

Yelp
A nice quaint hotel in the heart of Glasgow. We only spent one night here so I don't have a ton of info but everything was expected and had no issues upon arrival. I would assume all rooms have A/C, I know ours did. Would stay here again.

Yelp
Using this platform to warn travelers that this establishment provided us with no options, flexibility, or understanding when my husband and I both tested positive for covid. We asked to change our stay date to 2 days later to ensure we were not traveling irresponsibly. We did not want to cancel. The reservation manager, Jackie, was curt and used the excuse that "covid has been going on for 2 years" (as though the pandemic is not still raging). We are very disappointed that we could not stay at what looks like a beautiful hotel or receive even a partial refund due to something out of our control. Every other company we worked with to push our trip back (Airbnb hosts, booking.com, Monkstadt B&B) were kind and flexible.

Yelp
I decided to stay at Abode, formerly the Art House (and now the Arthouse again), at the last minute, as I was attending an event nearby. I booked the same afternoon through lastminute.com and found no problems with my late booking. Upon arrival, I was greeted and checked in quickly and courteously and given directions to my room. I made my way up in the lift and found my room with no problems. The hotel has seen better days, that is true, and I'd say it could use some renovations. Peeling paint, furniture has been knocked about a bit, but it was very clean and the bed and pillows were so comfortable, I could barely wrench myself away from them. The shower was very powerful, with hot water plentiful. The one downside, and this was unfortunately why I won't be hurrying back, is the noise from the street outside. I was kept awake for a large part of the night by people singing, shouting and screeching outside and then by an alarm going off from about 5am (still going off when I checked out!). Whilst this noise is outwith the control of the hotel, they could look at some better soundproofing for their rooms overlooking Bath Street. I returned to the hotel around 1am and was greeted by the night porter, who was very friendly and helpful, him and the barman sorted me out with a drink to take to my room. Check-out was just as hassle-free. I would love to go back but only if I was on the other side of the hotel, as the noise was too much for me. Room Tip: Ask for a room NOT overlooking Bath Street

Yelp
Beautiful building, although a little hard to identify as you walk down the street. Inside its been decorated really nicely and the staff at reception are as helpful as they can be. It's located really centrally, so no concerns there and the rooms are lovely - modern, cosy and with everything needed in them... BUT, the restaurant and bar and its staff need a bit of a think. Limited range and staff who are obviously in their first bar job! Even with an English accent I was surprised when I asked for Guinness to be asked "...do you mean cider?" and when a colleague asked for non-alcoholic beer and was told the nearest they had was sparkling water... Even then, he was sold a litre bottle! Hmmmm, shame really...

Yelp
we stayed here last weekend and although the hotel itself was fine, Michael Caines restaurant was a smidgen of a let down to be honest. The maitre'd on the night was pleasant enough, but made a few mistakes that we wouldn't expect from a fine dining restaurant. We waited an hour and 45 minutes to get our main meal, which was stone cold when we did get it. I'm sure it would've been lovely otherwise. In order to pacify the situation they fed us wine (two bottles - before we'd had anything to eat remember....) which I wouldn't normally complain about, but on further inspection half way down the first bottle, wasn't the grape never mind the country's we'd ordered. Meh - it's a real shame actually, as I say, the food and the experience probably would've been good had we had the same service the other tables around about us did.

Yelp
Friendly attentive staff greet you at this great hidden hotel in Glasgow. I flew in from NYC so i was expecting another super small room but instead the standard room is actually a decent size with very high ceilings which make it seem even larger. I wish we stayed here longer!

Yelp
I gave this hotel a try after finding out that it was 5 stars.I love staying in hotels!!!! Our first problem was finding the hotel,we ended up getting a taxi because the directions we were given were not that good. The prices are not that cheap but you dont expect them to be in a 5 star hotel. The room service is 24 hours a day which is good as when you come back from a night out you can order somthing to eat.The staff serve it prompltly and they dress really neat and tidy. One thing i loved was the minibar-very reasonable priced. You can even get beauty treatments in your room which i think i nice.

Yelp
I stayed in this hotel last night and have stayed several times before on business. I've always had a pleasant stay but have noticed this hotel get shabbier recently. When I got to my room the first thing I noticed that one of the windows didn't have any curtains and the net curtains were really grubby. I asked for another room (preferably with curtains) and was given another. This second room was fine, although a touch shabby paint peeling off the skirting, stains on the chairs etc. As I had arrived around 8pm, I ordered room service but was told that they were only serving cold food so had to make do with a sandwich for dinner. In the morning there was no hot water in my room, despite running the shower for 30 minutes. I was told the duty manager was going to reset the boiler. Well, whatever he did it didn't work and I had to have a freezing cold shower. I ordered my room service breakfast to arrive between 7am and 7.15am and it eventually arrived at 7.35am after I had chased it. It's a shame this hotel seems to be going rapidly downhill. Won't stay here again.

Yelp
abode bar & grill is amazing. the food is delicious. it sometimes might sound too fancy, but it is gorgeous, try it. also they do a deal where is it £25 per couple for two courses each and a bottle of wine to share (multiply the numbers if necessary, I just went with a group of 8 two weeks ago & it was brilliant).

Yelp
The fine dining restaurant is fantastic, has some of the best food Ive ever tasted in Glasgow and the serice is great - totally relaxed and in no way stuffy. Great for a special occassion or if you feel like spoling yourself.

Yelp
One of the best nights of my life. I was surprised left right and centre. Really a great hotel. And the bar man made the best bloody marys i have had in my life. he told me the secret was celery salt! Great hotel big headache due to fabulous bar!

Yelp
This hotel is open to the public as well as it's residents. I have eaten here and stayed many times and have always been really pleased with it's standards. The rooms are really modern and you can get thm for great prices on-line. I tend to eat more in the cafe bar as opposed to the fine dining restauraunt as it's a little more relaxed and has a great choice of food at great prices. I've tried the risotto and steak but there are loads to choose from with a 'Scottish twist' Upstairs you have Michael Caines fine dining restauraunt, a little pricey but it is exquisite and the service and food is to die for. If it's a special occasion I'd definitely recommend, if it's a night out in town with friends of partner, the more casual restauraunt is maybe more for you. There is also a bar area where you can sip on some fantastic cokctains, definitely worth a visit. P.s. In case you didn't know, Michael Cain is a very famous cheif with only one arm.
