This hike is simple and easy over half the way, but it does get steep closer to the end. Much of it is wooded, but it opens up in a few places to offer wonderful views from various rocky outcroppings. The final climb to Arthur's Rock is a bit of work, and is quite precarious if it's icy. Once at the top there is room to easily stand and walk around a bit. It offers a very wide view north, south, and east. You don't need a gym if you live near these hikes.

Arthur's Rock, nestled in the stunning Lory State Park in Northern Colorado just outside of Fort Collins offers a breathtaking hiking experience that truly surpasses expectations. At a glance, this trail may seem modest with its 1.7-mile length as indicated on the map, but it's a hidden gem packed with challenging adventures. The hike is deceptively uphill, featuring steep inclines and significant elevation gain, making it a thrilling journey for outdoor enthusiasts. As you navigate the picturesque trail, you'll be captivated by the diverse scenery, ranging from dense, lush forests to panoramic, snow-dusted landscapes, depending on the season. Whether it's vibrant wildflowers in spring or the serene beauty of snow-packed trails in winter, Arthur’s Rock provides a unique experience each time. Reaching the summit rewards hikers with extraordinary, far-reaching views to the east, offering a perfect backdrop for memorable photos. This hike isn't just a physical journey; it's an emotional one too, leaving you with a profound sense of accomplishment. Access to this popular Colorado hiking trail is convenient, with a well-marked trailhead within Lory State Park. Remember, a day pass or season pass is required, but it's a small price for such an unforgettable experience.

I liked this hike but I would have to disagree with the description that it's a nice easy hike and an easy walk for beginners! Most internet descriptions call it a moderate hike, I even saw one that described it as moderate to difficult. It is constant uphill and the majority of the trail I would describe as rough or even very rough. And knowing that there was a portion at the top that you could almost consider a scramble I didn't make it to the top this time. There is still good views from the overlook and I really enjoyed the wildflowers!

A highly recommended hike near Fort Collins, in Lory State Park, 25' outside of the city. They have parking at all trailheads. Good signs and roads in good condition. As you get to the rock, the terrain becomes rockier and steeper. It was very fun to do this hike, when you reach the top there are spectacular views. The only bad thing is that to enter Lory State Park you have to have the annual pass ($80), or a day pass ($10).

Great medium level hike. About 50 minutes to go up at a comfortable place. Children can do it but may need help at the end going up some steep rock steps. Incredible view at the top. Absolutely worth it. Bring lunch with you and eat at the top.

Great trail with gorgeous views of the lake and town below. When you almost get to the top, you'll have to do some rock climbing, but just take your time with that and you'll be fine. Plenty of people when we went, but not too busy on the trail. Bathrooms were located at trailhead. Might be wise to bring your own hand sanitizer because there wasn't any when I went.

This is a great beginner/intermediate hike in Ft Collins. We did it in late December with temperatures in the 30’s. It was 3.6 miles from the trailhead with 1150 of vertical. We took a low land visitor and completed it in 2.5 hours.

This is a great moderate hike to overlook Fort Collins and get away from the city. The park is $9 to enter and there is a smooth dirt road to get to the trailhead.
