"As you ascend the hill known as Arthur’s Seat, you can’t believe you're less than two miles from the center of Scotland’s capital city—the wild, rugged, and rocky climb is only a 45-minute walk each way. If you do it early in the day or late in the afternoon, you’ll see local runners; but most people just walk this trail, which takes you right to the center of Holyrood Park—and to the spectacular views over the city and the Firth of Forth." - Freya Herring

I love this hike! I went up one side and down a different path, there are several different ways to climb it. A stunning view, mornings and evenings are the best!

It took me about 20 minutes to hike up to the top of Arthur's Seat. It's medium difficult so most people will not have problems, though it is important to watch out for muddy sections and slippery surfaces if hiking during or right after rainfall. Otherwise, it's a scenic view from the top and it only took 40 minutes in total to go down from the peak to the city centre.

A wonderful way to view Edinburgh- with a moderate hike to boot. Lots of lovely scenery- including St Anthony’s chapel- along the way. Wear proper shoes, as it can be quite wet/misty. Would not classify this as a hard hike, but more of a moderate walk with inclines. Took ~ 1 hour to reach the top with a few photo stops along the way. Highly recommend!!

It is worth seeing the perfect view of Edinburgh. The way to the seat is not difficult, but please be careful while walking. It can be really windy and cold at the seat, so wearing outerwear is strongly recommended. While returning back, you can follow alternative paths to see beautiful lakes."

Bit of a trek and quite a few huffs and puffs but made it to the top. Superb views and all the hard work of climbing up were soon forgotten. I advise to take water with you (you’ll need it) and you could have a picnic at the top. We were lucky as it was a nice clear day and could see for miles.

This is an above average challenge hike for me. There are numerous paths to reach the summit. Most popular is from the Holyrood castle end. Near the peak, hand assisted is necessary to scale the rocky paths. The view from the peak is spectacular, a full 360. Extremely high wind can be expected out, high caution, do not rush! The hike is about 1 km.

Great view from the top. It took me around 30 to 45 minutes to walk up the hill. I would tell anyone to be careful on the way down as the rocks and sand can be very slippery. (We witnessed someone sprain their ankle while climbing down.) Although I liked the climb, I was looking at my feet the whole time (making sure I wouldn’t slip on the rocky terrain) instead of appreciating the view.

Beautiful walk, about 30m up and 15m down if you’re fast. Great views of the city and the seat itself. It was so windy at the top that it almost toppled me, be careful!
