Stopped here for lunch on a whim whilst exploring Chester on a Sunday afternoon. We sat outside on the canal as the weather was decent. Staff were absolutely excellent - polite, chatty, they provided quick and accurate service. They were knowledgeable about the entire menu. I had the 3 course Sunday lunch for £20 - what a bargain. It was almost faultless. The pork was tender, moist and flavourful. All the sides were perfect, except the Yorkshire pudding which was slightly undercooked but still enjoyable. My Mum had pizza, the toppings were good (chorizo, goats and artichoke), but the base was really strange; incredibly dry and tough. I’m not sure what had gone wrong with the base, perhaps bad luck with that batch of dough? Overall, we had an enjoyable time and I will definitely come back again - however, I would avoid the pizzas.

Waterfront restaurant/craft beer bar/cocktail bar. Did all 3 very well. Extensive drinks menu. Excellent tapas style food and pizzas. Food was top notch, Toulouse sausage was interesting something you don’t see too often, very good.

Only stopped for a coffee, but it seemed very nice. I bet the pizza is great, the coffee was certainly very authentically continental. Docked one star for some impressively uncomfortable white plastic chairs, go for the sofas or sitting outside if you visit!

Great find off the beaten track alongside a canal. This spot offers a great relaxing atmosphere with comfortable indoor or outdoor seating and friendly staff. Great selection of Gin's and beers on offer, we didnt have food here so cant comment there. Well worth the visit. While in Chester, this a must visit.

Called in for lunch - fast, efficient, friendly and knowledgable staff. Great selection of wines and beers, even able to buy what you try from their onsite bottle shop. It was also a real treat to be able to choose from a selection of vegan dishes. Loved our experience of artichoke and keen to visit this stunning place on the canal again soon.

Food is fantastic, first time ordering so ordered too much! The dips and small plates delicious as was the pizza. They know how to make a decent Pimms as well. All the staff are lovely and friendly.

Great lunch menu; delicious pizzas, sandwiches outside the norm, breakfast available until 3.30pm. Extensive food and cocktail/drinks menu for the evening (the espresso martini makes an excellent dessert substitute!). Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Canal side location with limited outside seating for sunny days.

Canal side artisan Abistro serving nice food, locally sourced ales and a selection of European keg beers. A selection of various teas and coffees also available. Home made scones with jam and butter served every day at a reasonable price.

Yelp
Strolling down the canal into Chester at lunchtime this was the first bar/restaurant we came to. Picturesque (limited) canal-side outside seating in a lovely old heritage building - range of home-made cakes, and a selection of real ale from Cheshire breweries, continental lagers and artisan beers. Interior ambience? Modern bistro dining using the finest local suppliers. Good selection of cocktails also. Has a bowl of (warmed with paprika sprinkled on top nice touch) pistachios with my pint, followed by a good Caesar salad and Pizza. Elegantly served and tasty it was too (albeit a little on the pricey side, but then you get what you pay for)

Yelp
With it's close location to the train station, Artichoke was a great choice for somewhere to grab a bite before getting a train home. The decor was nice and modern, and I was surprised the atmosphere was so relaxed considering how fussy the menu is. The food is good. Not mind-blowing, but tasty enough when you've got a 6 hour train journey ahead of you. I ordered a Lamb Henry, served with lentils and dauphinoise potatoes. It was full of flavour but unfortunately also tough and overcooked. Laura's margarita pizza was a bit meh, but the amaretto and cherry cake was wonderful! Overall I'd go back and give it another try but maybe stay clear of the lamb :)

Yelp
We ended up here on a Friday night after closing out a couple other pubs - open til 1am, thank you! Artichoke is located right on the canal - more modern than the average pub but still had cozy couches and a good beer selection. The bonus is they make great mixed drinks as well - try the zombie, who doesn't like a drink smothered in flames??

Yelp
A nice place to sit and enjoy the world going past on the canal tow path. Conveniently located about 10 mins from the city centre and from the station. Set in a beutiful old mill building on the banks of the canal you can enjoy your time and relax. Artichoke has an awesome selection of spirits and a good selection of beers to suit all pallets. Monday is 241 pizza day and they are lovely. Good food, Good drink and nice staff; with a great view to top it off.

Yelp
Fantastic spot for an evening cocktail, especially if you want to peruse their extensive gin collection. Solid draft beer rotation with lots of local options. Enjoy their lunches as far as food goes, the pear, ham, gorganzola sandwich on soda bread is tops. If it's nice out, sit outside on the canal and watch the ducks float by. Also, 2 for 1 pizzas on Mondays. Definitely try it out!
