This is hands down the best collection of African art I've seen on the continent. While South Africa may have the best hanging spaces, the body of work here is incomparable.
From nascent artists establishing their position to the better-known artists commanding their craft, this is African art at its best, curated through an African lens.
There are three floors crammed with awe-inspiring pieces, ranging from miniature metal sculptures to large, bold contemporary sculptures. The collection also includes fabrics through the ages and the most vibrant paintings that capture the rhythm, movement, and soul of Africa, interpreted in daring hues.
There's too much to take in with just one visit, and the downside is that despite the size of the building, there simply isn't enough space for it all.
I made an impulse purchase, but I'll definitely be back for more.
This is a "must-visit" in Accra.
