I don't know why the reviews are good. The food was salty, the meat was tough, and the salad had too much sauce. It was disappointing and not worth the money.

Artner is a meat-lover's paradise. Their specialities include Wiener Schnitzel, roast beef, and bbq steak. A few fish and vegetarian options are also available. Huge vine cellar. Rustic, cozy ambiance. Try the Viennese specialties and finish your meal with a delicious Kaiserschmarrn (to share with 3-4 people). Friendly and accommodating staff

Google
This place is amazing, the food is very good, everything is high quality. The service is top notch, I wish all places had this type of service.

Google
I enjoyed my sea bass but the mashed potatoes were swimming in butter which made the whole dish too greasy for me. My husband had a beef and onion dish. He said the beef had no flavor and the tiny strings of onions were deep fried and tasted like packing material. It's unfortunate because the service was excellent and decor was kind of dark and cozy.

Google
Ordered chateaubriand was not good. Very dry and tough. Salad was good. They charge coperto 11 euro per two pp and still asked tip. I hesitated and waiter wanted 10 euro on top of 140euro including 11 euro precharged coperto ended up paying 150 total. I probably got scammed as tourist. Service was slow and waiter was busy setting table even if I asked bill.

Yelp
Don't know why the description of this place says "seafood". This is a steakhouse. A very good one! We stumbled into it while looking for a spot to have some lunch. They served us a great burger with a salad. Fantastic included desert. A great selection of craft beers, including one "black sheep" stout which I enjoyed. Server was delightful and prompt. Lunch with tip was $37. Would go back for dinner!

Yelp
I always trust yelp over other review sources. And Yelp was spot on with Artner. Terrible service, pretentious atmosphere, mediocre foods. We asked for our check 4 times. Why is it even so hard to give away our money? Steaks were poorly executed (tough and over cooked). Starters, soups, sides were all overwhelmingly heavy and salty. Their tafelspifz was soooo bleh. I didn't bother taking more than two bites and bad enuff to forever remind myself - "don't you dare try it again in another restaurant!". Overall - it was the worst and most expensive meal we had all week in Europe. Skip skip skip!

Yelp
Probably the best meal I've had in several months. Great peach salad, apricot dumplings, and the piece de resistance, the Rossini. Sitting outside on a warm evening sitting next to a fountain with a statue in a plaza, next to a church built in 1603. Our main waiter, Daniel, was great. Overall, sitting here wondering how the average rating is only 3.5. Would give this place a 6 out of 5 if that was an option.

Yelp
Probably should skip. Staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. Also crap food. Seems like a place that doesn't know how to do business.

Yelp
Located in a nice and quiet area, Artner is an 'upper class' restaurant that proposes a gastronomic menu. Whether meat or fish, their meals are really well cooked and taste amazing. Their wine list is also impressive. But even if sitting outdoors is nice, for such a price, I am still a bit disappointed. It was way to posh inside, and I was expected much more from their cuisine... PS: even if they bring bread at your table, it will cost 2€ each slice...

Yelp
http://www.diningcity.com/restaurants/en/austria/wien/artneramfranziskanerplatz/index.html;jsessionid=039AEAFE9BF9D2B25FE0EE476D3F66AB I dined here with my husband and two of my best girl friends who were visiting us from San Francisco. We all agreed that our experience was wonderful! The restaurant is located in the heart of the 1st District, and it's a lovely restaurant both upstairs and downstairs. The upstairs feels more modern and sleek, while the downstairs blends historic masonry with modern furnishings. My husband, my friends, and I enjoyed several courses with the chef's recommended wine pairing. The chef's presentation was beautiful, and all of the courses were delicious. Our waiter was very friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable, the rest of the supporting staff were equally excellent, and all of the wines that tasted were a pleasure and were from relatively nearby vineyards. My friends had never tried Austrian wine before, and I know that they were very impressed-even with the red wine we had, which was from Burgenland. I will definitely be heading back to this restaurant in the near future!

Yelp
The Wiener Schnitzel was good, a bit salty to me but that's personal. Parsley potatoes are given additional in a very small copper pan which looks really good and tasted really good. Why I give two stars? Because the experience, which I find most important when going out for dinner, was very disappointing. We did not order bread but got it right away. We knew we would probably have to pay for it, which was fine and on the menu it said in general that bread would be 2,90. I don't want to sound as a typical Dutch cheapskate, but when you get a bill with bread being 8,70 for six small slices , you would be as surprised as me I think . Apparently it's a price per person and when we asked the waiter and mentioned that it did not say anything on the card about , he was very grumpy and did not really want to discuss this. Also, some people got a bottle of water which still needed to be opened and with a tag on it, we had an open one which was open already. First we thought we got tap water, but according to our bill it was a bottled water bottle(6,50). Anyways, it felt and seemed as if we were ripped off and I found it difficult to have a respectful conversation about this since the manager did not really wanted to be hospitable. Never had this experience before and hope not have it again soon.

Yelp
went there because a lot of other restaurants recommended by yelp where closed. it was a very good surprise, food was great and service was amazing. They have their own winery, and we were very surprised in a good way (we're french). good surprise.

Yelp
Not a seafood restaurant! Only 2 seafood dishes on menu (had the seabream, which was wonderful). Lots of steak, organ meats (spouse really enjoyed the calves liver), beef, pork. Don't think there was chicken either (believe there was quail appetizer). Food is beautifully presented, restaurant has an elegant feel, terrific service. Downstairs had barrel vaulting, felt more upscale trendy. Terrific value for cost (103 euros for 2 apps, entrees, wine).

Yelp
A bit pricey place, but after all I was satisfied. The service is excellent and all of the staff was very friendly. And the food - no comment. I will come back for sure.

Yelp
Solid food. Fun evening atmosphere. We ate outside on the street on a warm Vienna night. Steak cooked a little too rare for medium rare but good enough. In Europe, they always put too much dressing on salad so if you have American tastes, ask for the dressing on the side. A little pricey but what isn't in Vienna. All in all pretty good.

Yelp
It could be the worse the experience in Vienna! The waiter provided us very terrible service. However they charge me tips without any consent ,just issue the bill with Eur 12.20 of tips. My five years old girl just asked for a glass of water, then they gave us a bottle of water (charge 6.9 Euro)without asking. They just openned the bottle and pulled water in the glass directly. And also charge her a"brot b convert" . I donot even agree with the "Brot b convert" charge,as there are many places where didnot charge for it. Normally, they will tell the "Brot b convert" will be charged, would you like to have it. As I leant the law, silence does not mean "agree"。 the waiter should offer and ask me. Furthermore,The restaurant should understand tourism may be unable to fully understand the meaning of the Manu. At least, they should not misleading me. At the time,I can not say that I do not agree to pay the amount of bill as we are tourisms and I have to make sure my family in safety. But I believe that restaurant can not represent Vienna.

Yelp
Amazing restaurant! An example of good hospitality and service and high quality meats! We had the Deer and hanger steak and it was simply delicious! A master piece from presentation to test to quantity to price! It honestly can't get better than this! Wine selection is formidable and staff super friendly! This is a great spot for meat lovers and people out in a romantic date!

Yelp
Fabulous wiener schnitzel and the Amarok wine was perfect. Fabulous evening in Vienna.

Yelp
A pricy place for sure, but everything we ordered we LOVED. I got the ragu with mushrooms and it was out of this world! The house red wine is also very nice.

Yelp
Absolutely horrible service!! If I could give no stars, I would. The service was just awful and our server was incredibly condescending and rude. The entire environment was very hostile and it was not a pleasant place to have a meal, which is unfortunate because the food was actually quite nice, yet overpriced (personal opinion). I think the one thing though that really was unsettling was the situation with payment. The server was very rude about our party of four wanting to split the bill. While we were doing the math on our phone and calculating what we owed, he grab the check from my hand and said "I'll just do the math." We told him that we had already figured it out and so he rolled his eyes and let us pay. One friend had paid her exact amount and he decided that she needed to give him more money, so he held out his hand until she gave him some more Euros (causing her to overpay her share). Another paid and there was no debacle, other than a smug attitude from the server. When the other friend and I paid, he DID NOT GIVE US OUR CHANGE! We did not have smaller bills so we gave him a little extra and asked for money back, he said, "Okay yes," took our money, smiled, walked away, and then began to talk to his co-worker about how stupid we were. ALL of our party was outraged but too fed up with the events of the entire experience and just decided that fighting for our money back was just not worth any more of his attitude. This was an absolutely outraging experience, and I do not recommend dining here. Vienna is full of other places to try (I suggest Figlmuller for traditional Austrian food), and this place is not worth it.
