10 Best Hotels in Aruba for a Local Stay - AFAR

"Superlatives reign at this massive Palm Beach resort. Among the outsize offerings? The biggest casino in Aruba, with more than 500 slot machines and 26 gaming tables, as well as the island’s largest spa. Its 414 accommodations aren’t lacking for space either: Each room has a walk-in closet, double-sink bathroom, and private balcony; the highest-end suites are so palatial their balconies alone measure up to a sprawling 500 square feet—with ocean views to sweeten the deal. When you’re not playing roulette or indulging in a moisturizing coconut-milk wrap, kick back in one of the beachside palapas, or practice your breaststroke in the free-form pool, complete with cascading waterfalls and a volleyball net (a serene adults-only pool features a tiki bar if that’s more your speed). In keeping with the more-is-more theme, guests are spoiled for choice with seven on-site restaurants, bars, and cafés, including a Ruth’s Chris Steak House, where the 500-degree plates ensure another best—the hottest meal in town." - AFAR Editors

This hotel has a lot of issues. First, it’s undergoing renovation, which it desperately needs! I had to switch rooms because the first one they gave us smelled like mildew. Maybe it was coming from the water soaked hallway they were trying to dry with a fan! I had to calk them at night to turn it off so we could sleep. I had to call them twice to fix a squeaking bathroom door that woke up the dead every-time someone opened or closed it. |The walls are paper thin, so not only can you hear your neighbors conversations, but you can hear EVERYTHING! The power went out multiple times, along with the internet (even when there was power!) I literally took a cold shower in the dark! I almost forgot about the fire alarm!|Stay away from this place until they have completed their renovations. They tried to buy my silence with a $300 credit to my hotel incidentals. But that is no where near enough compensation for our horrendous experience.

I truly cannot put into words how happy and impressed my husband and I were with our wedding experience at the Marriott. From the very first interaction to the moment we departed, every single team member was attentive, kind, professional, and consistently went above and beyond our expectations. A special thank you to my incredible coordinators, Melanie and Juliane. Melanie was my first point of contact and guided me through every detail with care and patience. Juliane ensured our stay and wedding day were nothing short of exceptional. Together, they brought my dream wedding to life—making it even more magical than I ever imagined. The room ! The service ! The views ! The amazing staff !! We can’t wait to return for our one year anniversary!

This is a very nice hotel! Food is absolutely incredible! I enjoyed my full week stay there! The beach chair process isn't the best, but overall, everything else was great!

We have been vacationing here over 10 years, at Tradewinds level, they never disappoint. The staff in the Tradewinds is so attentive to your needs, the breakfast, lunch and dinner offerings are always well planned, deliciously prepared, and the staff is constantly checking to see that items are replenished. Special thanks to "Jackie" at the Tradewinds, she's always ready to help with dinner reservations and any other issues that may arise. Also want to mention Nik Hernandis, Front Desk Supervisor. He is definitely a "hands on" manager, always asking guests if there's anything he can do to make their stay more enjoyable. There is renovation work going on throughout the property, the noise is minimal, I wouldn't let that sway anyone from staying here. Lobby bar has nightly entertainment and a wonderful gelato stand, it's addictive!!!|The pools are well kept, grounds are immaculate, beach is nothing short of beautiful. We've tried other properties, this is definitely our favorite!!!

Have stayed many times at the Marriott Stellaris - Aruba and it never disappoints. Especially love the casino! We have had exceptional customer service and specifically would like to call out Jeffery C. the slot manger. He went above and beyond our expectations- Highly recommend this hotel and casino when visiting Aruba!

We arrived at the Marriott and immediately received a welcome drink. I went to the desk with my voucher for a handicapped room with two queen beds and a garden view. My partner has a problem with his leg and can't get into a tub. I was informed that the handicapped rooms were filled, and nothing was guaranteed. This was never explained when I booked with my travel agent. They offered me a walk in shower with a king bed and a roll in cot. This was not a solution to me. Then after a discussion in the office she offered a room overlooking the adult pool with two beds and walk in shower. Since it was a lower class we received a resort credit.|While we waited for our room to be cleaned we went to Waves for lunch. We were greeted by Lisette who remembered us from the past two years. Good food and service.|When our room was ready, we realized it overlooked the roof of the walkway to the adult pool. It did turn out to be a quiet location so we settled in.|The next morning we went down for breakfast and were greeted by Missy, the resort cat. She is so special. The hostess, Vangie, gave us a warm welcome. It's amazing how the staff remembers you from year to year. She just started off our day with a smile. Our first waiter was Pope Francis. He blessed us and the weather was sunny after that. We also had Jose , Maybelline and Anna Lucia. We kept asking for our favorite, Elizabeth and finally she was working in the morning. We took a picture with her and ended our vacation. |Hopefully we can solve the reservation problem and go back next year.| |

We've stayed at the Marriott Stellaris for three years now and wouldn't stay anywhere else. The rooms are clean and they have plenty of restaurants on site. Everyone at the Marriott is friendly and helpful. Check-in was a breeze. Our housekeeper, Jennifer, was awesome. She provided anything you needed. She also took the time to chat with us regarding different things about the island. Our favorite part was having dinner on the beach at Atardi. We will be back next year!!

This was our second trip to Aruba. Previously we stayed at the Hyatt and loved it, but the Marriott looked nice too, and it was a little less expensive, so we chose it. It was an average hotel, nothing spectacular. If you are choosing between the two, the location, grounds, and beach area isn't as nice as the Hyatt. We found the customer service at the front desk lacking as well. It is probably more fun/lively though, especially around the pool, with a DJ there every afternoon during Happy Hour.
