ASA Restaurant - Los Altos

Delicious food and great service at the heart of Los Altos. The menu has so many interesting options and there were several tempting specials, we will need to come back to try it all. The crab toast, the duck cake and the scallop appetizers were very tasteful, as well as our main entree (a halibut special). Our waiter was very helpful, the atmosphere was great and they also had a nice drinks and wine menu.

The food was really good, but we thought it was a little pricy for the quality we were getting. The mushroom pasta was probably the favorite at our table. The pork & beans was good and very tender, but nothing special. The Asa's G&T was very pretty but very strong, and we didn't love it. The wines we tried were very good though, nice selection, too. The chocolate bomb takes ~20 min, but it's worth the wait. Overall, good restaurant, but potentially a bit overpriced.

The paella is a consistent spécialité de la maison here. We've had it at least 3 times over 3 years and it never fails. The other mains we tried were tasty but maybe not worth their price tag. When securing an indoor table, beware of the round table near the door where you are periodically greeted by cold bursts of air brought by new restaurant diners entering or by guests bumping their backside or bags against you while waiting to be seated. The service was very friendly and generous with recommendations but not too attentive (e.g., inconsistent first glass wine pours across the table, forgetting to fill the 2nd glass of ordered wine). Ambience = 5 stars (this could be New York or Los Angeles or another big city, but its little Los Altos) Food = range of 3-5. Service = 3. Overall it's a 4 star experience.

The service is amazing. The staff is incredibly kind and everything came out fast. They dealt well with our food restrictions. The food is fine. It's pretty good but not as flavorful as one would hope. The mushroom pasta was delicious as is the double fudge sorbet. The garden veggie dish was underwhelming. Needs something a bit more hearty to make it filling like mushrooms or something.

Overall - If I can give this restaurant more stars, I'll definitely love to!!! This has become my most favorite restaurant in town! Service - We came here Thursday night with reservation. Excellent service with a caring server. Warmly greeted by the gentleman who seat us. Our server was a friendly and pleasant young lady. Food - WOW!! Every dish was palatable and cooked perfectly. We started with Duck Potatoes and Lobster Toast. Since we were a group of four, the chef even cut the toast into four pieces for us to share. The toast was crispy and let the flavors of the lobster shine through. We also tried Steak, Duck Two Way, Scallops of the Sea, and Mushroom Pasta. Meat was tender and juicy, the pasta was very creamy. And the chef knew well on how to design a stunning dish. Ambience - elegant and upscale. The noice level was just about right that my friends and I could hear each other. I'll definitely come back to try other dishes.

The mushroom pasta is amazing! They have a secret sauce on it and it tastes fabulous. The portion is big, so I need to go box half of it to home. Tuna appetizer and burana cheese was great too. It is expensive restaurant, so would save it for special occasions.

Excellent service and food. The staff here really has nice touches with their service. Splitting soup without asking, providing extra plates without request to share, watching your table progress into the meal. A lot of little things went a long way here. Food wise I really like the duck fat potatoes and the pasta. Pasta was aldente in the best way you can imagine. Pricey but good. 20% more pricey that its value I would say but worth coming for special occasions. Great decor and ambiance. Worth trying the iberico ham if you have not had any before. Scallops we're exceptional as well

Need reservations, very chill atmosphere with friendly (but slightly slow) service. Drinks were good. The serendipitous highlight of the night was the anchovy bread, recommended by waiter. Would come back just for that! The shrimp appetizer was also spot on, loved it. Entrees were a bit less exciting. Still delicious but nothing to write home about. We got the pork belly and mushroom handmade pasta. Dessert was great (cake a la mode).
