We were excited to try Asado Gaucho after seeing so much hype and positive buzz online, but unfortunately, the experience was underwhelming from the start.
Service:
We stood at the register for about five minutes while employees talked among themselves and did not acknowledge us. The employee at the register repeatedly found other tasks to do instead of taking our order—such as filling sauce containers. When we asked if we could order, another employee told us she would help us shortly.
When she finally came to the register, she didn’t acknowledge us and instead walked away to grab forks and containers. I asked again if we could order; she said yes, then walked away again without saying anything to wash her hands. The lack of urgency, communication, and basic customer acknowledgment was frustrating.
Food:
We ordered the NY Surf and Turf sandwich. After waiting another 20 minutes for the order, we received a $25 sandwich that had three shrimp and under cooked steak. The portion size and quality did not justify the price or the wait. It wasn't anything I’d order again. Definitely lacking.
Overall:
I’d rate the sandwich 2 stars and the service 0 stars. It was not worth the wait or the hype—especially considering we went when there was no line. Honestly, I would have been extremely disappointed if we had waited in one of the long lines we’ve seen on Instagram.
This experience did not live up to expectations.
