THE WORST HOTEL I'VE EVER STAYED AT. Don't be fooled by the convenience or views. It isn't that great because the Tokyo metro is still 10mins away and unless you somehow just like to see building structures. Beds are super hard and uncomfortable.
And to top it all off, the service attitude of the night shift staff is horrendous.
Here's what happened:
1. I told them my room is really stuffy.
2. They sent a mechanic and he said that in winter, the whole building only blows hot air.
3. Okay fine but the point is that there's no wind blowing from the vents at all.
4. He offered to get a key to open the room window.
5. The key never came. We had to go down to ask for it again.
6. The afternoon staff said they'll check and get it fixed by the time we returned. Of which, they even checked what time we'll return so that means they were fully aware how long they had to fix the issue.
7. Issue was not fixed when we returned 6+ hours later.
8. Went down to tell them about the issue AGAIN.
9. The night staff was incredibly dismissive, and refused to acknowledge my issue. "It is normal that it is hot."
10. I have to keep repeating that "there isn't even any wind blowing from the vents".
11. This back-and-forth went on for awhile and for some reason, they refused to come up to the room to check.
12. I had to ask them to show me a different room where after checking, it was really much better ventilated. The staff said it is because my room had warm air blowing for awhile.
13. WAIT A MINUTE. When I first went down, the staff asked what temperature did I set the thermostat to. I said it was 15 and he said that's why there's no air. It has to be 22-25 (okay so why didn't you tell me this in the first place?)
14. Now, how do those 2 reasons align? Tells me there's no air and there's air at the same time. How could my room be warm if there's no air??
15. Just feels like they're coming up with whatever reason to justify their laziness.
16. After much PLEADING, the staff finally came to my room to check (mind you, there had not been an apology whatsoever since this has started)
17. The staff fiddled with the thermostat for a long time and put his hands on the vent. Even turned it up to 29 degrees. There was clearly no air coming from the main vent into the room. There was only a bit of air coming from the corridor.
18. Finally ran out of excuses along with his charade of fiddling with the device, and decided to report to his manager.
19. Said the manager would come.
20. 10mins later, Manager didn't arrive. Instead, it was the same theatrical staff at the door stating the "mechanic" said there's no air blowing because the room is too hot. So, when the room cools, the vent will blow air.
21. Look I get how a thermostat works but how would any of them know whether there really was a problem if they refused to come to the room??? I dont understand why they carried such a dismissive and lazy attitude!
22. None of them could even bother taking out a phone to translate. How lazy is that? Even budget hotels have pocket translation devices. Now, of course I don't mind using my own phone to translate but this is just another example of their attitude.
23. Also, opening the window is a terrible idea because it is so noisy with construction works and the general main road noise that it's not possible to sleep through despite being on the 16th floor.
24. And on the note of the higher floors (point 12) that I requested to change to? The staff replied "oh, there won't be much of a difference."
25. I already said I would pay for the upgrade, so at least let me see the room before I commit right?
26. Same thing of nonchalance and refusal to let me go up until I had to insist adamantly.
Overall, fixture qualities are terrible. Wrapped buttons, stained sinks, old linen... The list goes on.
AVOID AT ALL COST.
