Asamkirche is stunning in person. Even though it’s a small church, the interior is incredibly ornate and full of detail. Every inch is covered in gold, frescoes, and dramatic Baroque design. It’s easy to walk right past it from the outside, but once you’re inside, it takes your breath away. The history behind it is fascinating too, especially how it was built by the Asam brothers as their private chapel. Definitely worth a quick visit if you’re in Munich.

Gorgeous, smaller town Roman Catholic Baroque Church oen to the public. Sumptuous display of devoted reverance during the Baroque era. The realistic paintings and sculptures are modified, so the view from below seems real. Everywhere is embellished with reminders of messages of how to get to heaven and what heaven looks like. Breathtaking. I loved the photo of the crypt in the front. There are crystals below. Worth your while.in sacred space

Another beautiful church in Munich! The baroque design and darker colors stands out among the many ornate churches in the area. The gold detailing and ceiling paintings were gorgeous, and provided a nice place to contemplate and enjoy. It’s definitely smaller than many other churches in Munich, but there was no one else there when I visited so it didn’t feel crowded.

Gorgeous church, it's definitely a must when visiting Munich! The interior of the church blew my mind, absolutely beautiful and intricate! The church is free to enter at anytime, bearing in mind that you must be respectful of people praying.

Amazingly beautiful church that is very small. Crowds can get quite large at times so I advise getting there early. The architecture and history here is incredible.

Located at Sendlinger Str. 32, 80331 Munich, Germany 🇩🇪. Better known as the Asam Church, this is a Baroque Church in Munich. It was built between 1733 and 1746 by a pair of brothers, sculptor Egid Quirin Asam and painter Cosmas Damian Asam as their private church. As the church was not commissioned, this allowed the brothers to build in line of their ideas as independent contractors. For example, Egid could see the altar from a window of his house next to the church. He also designed the church as a confession church, therefore it had seven confessionals. The church is divided into three sections, which increase in brightness from the bottom upwards. The bottom section for visitors is quite dark, its design symbolises the suffering of the world, the middle section is coloured blue and white, and reserved for the emperor. The uppermost section is dedicated to God and eternity. This is a truly beautiful church, extremely ornate and the workmanship is incredible. It’s a masterpiece of Baroque architecture. The stunning frescoes, gorgeous gold accents which create shadows dancing is truly remarkable. Everywhere you look, it’s a work of art. We went earlier in the day and I think you get better lighting then, I would recommend coming in the morning. From the outside, you really have no idea of the magnificence that is inside. Would definitely recommend. Thumbs up!!! 👍👍👍

Must see in Munich, I love baroque architecture, but kinda looks more beautiful on pics. Also, you can't sit inside to spend more time to better focus in details
