The location is great. In the middle of canyon. Clean wc facilities. Free shower, washing machine and dryer included. We payed 5200 isk per car with no tent.

Excellent, clean, quiet, beautiful, modern facilities. Helpful friendly staff in the information center with outstanding exhibits on the natural history of the canyon and north Iceland as well as human history. Everything works perfectly- sinks, showers, toilets, heat. New boardwalk and viewing platforms give picture postcard perspective on the foss at the head of the canyon and a stunning view to the north.

Maybe one of the most beautifull campings we have visited. Facilities are good and clean. The spots are big and the site is amazing. With many walking trails from easy to bit harder. Worth the detour!

We chose to camp here after visiting the Hafragilsfoss falls. It had a big snow that day, but inside the camping, there is no snow at all and felt warmer than outside. The trees and grasses were very greeny, like spring. this is one of the few places where the trees are big and green we visited in Iceland . The horse shoes shape areas were created by volcano. the cliffs are around 30 feet high, the camping area or the park is 30 ft below other areas. There is a trail to hike, at the end of the trail, there is a small beautiful waterfall and a water pond. The deck is built around the pond for viewers. We also saw the auraro lights at around 11 pm.

Fantastic location! The camp ground is in the actual canyon- amazing views and ambiance! Great, clean facilities- toilets, sinks, kitchen, washer, drying racks and hot showers. Big play area for kids off to the side, and two trails starting from the camp site. It is also arranged in a way that gives everyone space and nobody is crowded.

This campground exceeded our expectations! The surrounding landscape is unique and beautiful, and many of the campsites felt much more private compared to other campgrounds in Iceland. There are bushes and small trees across the campground that provide some campsites with privacy. It wasn't overly crowded in the non-electric area, and there are large gaps between campsites. I also really appreciated that there are several picnic tables scattered around the campground. It has a relaxing atmosphere that reminds me a of the campgrounds we have at home in Canada, contrary to some other campgrounds in Iceland which are overcrowded parking lots that lack privacy. The new shower and washroom facilities are fantastic! This was the first time since starting the Ring Road that I actually enjoyed my shower and didn't feel so rushed because there were plenty of shower stalls. We couldn't find a kitchen facility. A sheltered area with picnic tables would have been nice in case of rain. This campground may be a little out of the way if you're driving the Ring Road, but in good weather I think it's well worth the detour!

We stayed a few nights at this campground that as part of a national park. The location is within a unique canyon which we spent a day exploring. The staff at the nearby visitor center were helpful in suggesting excursions. This was a good place for a base, and also an easy day trip to Husavik. The tent sites are a bit more private than most Icelandic campgrounds.

This campground contains the trailhead for Eyjan. It’s a good there-and-back trail that takes a couple of hours to complete. Only encountered a few other people. Views are good from the end of the trail but not spectacular during the hike.
