I couldn’t have had a better experience getting my TEE done. Hardly any wait, the staff were incredibly kind and helpful. I felt very lucky to have gone there, as I was a bit nervous and expecting a much longer stay. They are so efficient, and I love the screen that shows each patient’s status so you have an idea of when you will be called. One of the workers even offered to help me find out where I was going before I asked. Nurses and doctors were very friendly and I really appreciate all they do!

Everyone and I mean everybody was incredible. Every nurse was amazing. Even after shift change the nurses came back to check on me and wanted to say. The were so personable and very loving. Two big draw backs were the equipment in the room were under par. The second was the food service. Food served two hours late and my mom’s meals were forgotten and nurses had to request a second time.

Went to the ER due to wasn’t feeling well went for leg pain of being able to stand long then 5mins, chest pain, other complications due to my health. Was discharged today but still having problems of thing I went for was given steroid and was told to follow up and didn’t try to figure out what was the issue and was being ordered unnecessary testing will not be back again this is not good patient care. Then was left in my room from last patient they told me room was clean.

West St Thomas Hospital is by far the best hospital in Nashville! We live a long distance from the hospital, but always use their emergency room services. I appreciate the care I receive by everyone. On my 3 day stay I have to give special accolades to nurse Sherri who serviced me on the 7 floor. She was extremely helpful, competent and friendly. She made my time there much more bearable even though I was not well.

The Ascension Saint Thomas medical system is an utterly deplorable excuse for a healthcare provider, and my experience there was nothing short of a nightmare. Admitted for stroke-like symptoms, I was subjected to the most incompetent, disorganized, and potentially exploitative care I’ve ever encountered. The staff’s inability to clearly explain the purpose of their procedures was not just frustrating—it was alarming. It felt as though they were either clueless or deliberately opaque, pushing tests and interventions without any coherent medical justification. The hospital itself is a disgrace, falling apart at the seams with outdated facilities and an overall atmosphere of neglect that screams mismanagement. It’s hard to escape the suspicion that their rampant use of unnecessary procedures is a desperate attempt to squeeze every last dime out of patients to compensate for their failing infrastructure and woefully incompetent leadership. The pattern was clear: pile on tests and treatments, regardless of medical necessity, to pad the bill. The final straw came at 3 a.m. when they tried to push yet another dubious procedure. When I refused, suddenly the MRI—which they’d claimed had a “long wait”—was miraculously available within minutes. This wasn’t a coincidence; it felt like a calculated move, as if they realized their extortion tactics had been exposed and scrambled to cover their tracks. This place isn’t just incompetent—it’s predatory, preying on vulnerable patients for profit. Avoid Ascension Saint Thomas at all costs. Their disregard for patient care, coupled with a crumbling facility and questionable financial motives, makes them a danger to anyone seeking genuine medical help. You’re better off driving to another city for care than trusting this sham of a hospital system. GO TO VANDERBILT if you want competent and compassionate care. Go to Ascension if you don’t care. The photos are just one room but indicative of the entire facility. This place should be sued out of existence.

I received an open heart triple bypass surgery in February 2022 and had a surgical procedure of lengthening the Achilles tendon on one leg just yesterday, March 4, 2026. In both cases, the people who were involved in my preparation, surgeries and recovery time were absolutely amazing! They were very knowledgeable, caring and helpful with me during my time at St.Thomas West in Nashville, Tennessee. Thank you to Dr. Dante Graves-cardiologist, Clayton Kaiser-heart surgeon, Dr. Timothy Bush-podiatrist and all of the staff members! I really appreciate your time and dedication! A wonderful hospital! Highly recommend! The people, facility, overall feeling while there was gratefully appreciated as a patient. I’ve had both my hip 2/2026 and knee 10/2024 replacement surgeries at St Thomas Ascension West. Both were successful and I’ve also done my part as a patient for a positive outcome.

St. Thomas Midtown almost killed me! I had back surgery, and got a bacterial infection you can Only get in a dirty hospital. I had to lay on my back for almost 2 weeks with a drain in my back. I could go on and on, but my advice DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL AND DO NOT USE DR. REIG WITH HOWELL ALLEN!

Do not go to this place unless you are paying cash because they will charge you ridiculous amount even if you have insurance. They were listed as covered by my insurance, which means I should only pay a co-pay. I asked the lady upfront just to clarify that my insurance anthem was covered and that I should only have to pay a co-pay and she said yes, then months later I got a bill for $170. First I tried to pay the bill but all they give you is something in the mail to mail a check which I do not have checks or trust sending a check in the mail. The other options are a website which never works and had the same error over and over and then a phone number which no one ever answers. I called them 10 times and left multiple messages. I emailed their customer service. Support never got a response. I tried to pay online never got an answer. I tried going back to the hospital in person to pay them. They said I have to use their website that doesn't work. Finally after months of no one calling me back to pay they sent me to collections, the collections agency was easier to pay than them!

My mother was at St Thomas. They were a nightmare. She was always soiled. The were nonresponsive. The hospitalist will NOT call you back. The Ombudsman will not call you back. They answer to no one. Worst hospital stay ever.

Worst hospital ever! Their standard of care is the lowest of the lowest. The experience that I had in the ER was absolutely horrible, starting with the girls in the front. They didn't even look at my mom in the eyes and show any empathy towards her as she was crying in pain. Our nurse was sweet but everyone just moved very slow and showed no care in the world. This was the worst hospital experience I've ever had.

As a nurse employee, this place is not good. Management has favorites and if you dare report one of their buddies, you are flagged and continually retaliated against in the form of microaggression that stays under the radar. If you dare use HR, you are immediately targeted and relentlessly given terrible assignments. On top of that, the management will scour over your charting to try and "catch you" doing something every so slightly wrong so they can harp you on it. Meanwhile, said friends, romantic partners, and even family members often do the same or similar things and are left completely alone and with dream assignments. If you're not in the "cool kids group" then you might as well leave asap because it will be a continual uphill battle of trying to prove yourself. It's not worth it. Patient care can't be the focus when all this "tit for tat" is going on.

My mother was in the hospital after a fall with a serious head injury. St Thomas has always been our preferred hospital. It no longer is... The emergency room was filthy! Dirt on the floor, medical supply waste was left on the counters and the bathrooms were filthy! My mother was moved to a room and was there for over a week. When we arrived to her room, again the rooms were dirty and the rooms were not cleaned a single time she was there, our family was there with her continuously, so we know. Her bed sheets were not changed even once and she had dirtied them, because she was bed bound. I noticed the dirty sheets when I straightened the bed myself and noticed they had just put pads over the mess. It was not a huge mess, but enough body waste, that the sheets should have been changed. I thought hospitals were supposed to be sanitary, this one was not. I myself noticed a bedsore in my mother's back! If one the nurses or techs would found it if they had changed her linen when they got her up, which was several times. They used to be required to look for them on patients that are a fall risk and since they put a diaper on her instead of helping her up they did not see it. If they had bothered to look even when they did change her they would had found found the bedsore! The nursing staff let her lay in a dirty diaper, until we fought with them to change her and the nurses never once came in to wash her down. I thought a sanitary was important to a hospital and staff. Not at St Thomas West. I do have to say the nutritional staff was excellent , very kind people! But, cleanliness and patient care, you have to do better by your patients.

Traveled to Nashville for a seminar and unfortunately needed to stop at the ER. Yay... went to Vanderbilt first but probably still would be waiting had I stayed there. Insanely busy ER for early Thursday evening, I guess because they are a Level 1 trauma center. So my earache was going to the bottom of the triage list. Thankfully, I left Vanderbilt and when to St. Thomas. The ER staff were fantastic! Very professional and really cared about figuring out what was wrong and how they could help. Although it turns out my issue was something I could wait to handle until I got home, staff were extremely attentive and really wanted to make sure I got the help I needed. Thank you!!! (Sadly, the ER visit was probably one of the highlights of my trip smh ‍)

We have been fighting since April to receive a $1,500 refund for a bill overpayment from Ascension St. Thomas. Our case has been "escalated" several times with promises that someone will call to assist us the next day. Instead, no one calls. When we call, we have been promised payment in a few weeks. Still nothing after five months of this frustrating process. Ascension St. Thomas proclaims in its mission, vision, values, and ethics statement that its work is "rooted in the loving ministry of Jesus as healer," that its "service . . . responds to the needs of individuals," that one of its values is "generosity of spirit." (Quotations from here: https://about.ascension.org/our-mission/mission-vision-values-ethics) It's remarkable how differently Ascension St. Thomas operates in practice from its stated principles.

What a group of fabulous humans. April 5th had to be ambo transported the the ER. Every single person I came in contact with had an amazing bedside manner and sense of urgency with love. Very impressed and grateful to all staff and to the floor when being admitted. Tyler, Jonathan, and all the techs, even the nutritional gal was so kind and patient as I have food allergies. Thank you so much for making my life a priority. The ER Dr was a take control, kind woman who reached into my experience and took the appropriate efforts to change my outcome. Amazing Christ centered people here.

Ascension Saint Thomas Behavioral Hospital overcharged me by $700 in June of 2022 and are refusing to return the refund owed. The total bill for my stay after insurance was $3600. St Thomas required payment of my $700 deductible as a condition of my release. They then took payment for $3600 from my insurer, a total of $4300. I received a letter from St Thomas 'Patient Financial Counselor' Dustin Locklear regarding a "credit refund", requesting I call him; however, I was unable to reach Dustin on the number he provided, or other numbers for St Thomas billing for that matter. My insurance company informed me I should not have been required to pay my $700 deductible directly to St Thomas. This payment of my deductible to St Thomas, rather than to my insurance company, has caused major issues with my insurance account, resulting in a separate claim for $2587.50 being denied until my insurer receives the $700 deductible refund from St Thomas. Aside from billing issues, I had an awful experience at Ascension St Thomas. I was admitted involuntarily after my aunt mistakenly called them seeking help on my behalf, after I was violently assaulted. They assured her I would receive the necessary medical tests and care for strangulation trauma. Not the case at all, rather a re-traumatizing experience. At the end of my stay, my social worker concluded my admission was a mistake. After 3 days in this locked prison where you are separated from your belongings, strip-searched, and spend much of each day watching TV involuntarily drugged with potentially dangerous anti-psychotics, with no access to substantial medical tests or treatment, I was released to find a giant mix up with my insurance billing, caused by Ascension Saint Thomas. I would not recommend this so-called hospital, "a good alternative to prison for your loved ones" (as per their website), and ask that the billing department promptly returns the $700 deductible owed to me/my insurer. Ascension Saint Thomas has been unreasonably withholding my $700 overpayment long enough.

My experience at this hospital has always been great. I had surgery here and everyone was professional. Hospitals are notorious for messing up hospital bills and billing you an arm and a leg but so far finger crossed this has not been the case with St. Thomas. our birth experience here was amazing. Unfortunately, our baby had to go to the NICU however after watching the nurses at NICU work I know we are in the best hands possible- they are truly angels. I would definitely recommend this hospital for all of your needs.

Going here was horrible. Everyone from the security guard to the ICU nurses were unfriendly. The lady at the front desk was even unkind. We were just here to see a family member who had had some intense issues and everyone here didn't have an ounce of understanding. I get it, they see sick people everyday, but some compassion would be nice. Go to Vanderbilt if you want kind faces.

I had the best experience in the ER at midtown on 8/18/2023. The staff was very pleasant from the moment we walked in. They were definitely on their A game! I have never had such a great experience in an ER. The front staff was very caring and friendly. We got a room in a very timely manner. Once in our room the doctors and nurses had great bedside manner! They took great care of my son! I couldn't have asked for a better staff! They kept us informed of everything, when the treatment plan changed they kept is informed. Communication was excellent! The care that my son received was truly the best and will definitely be unforgettable!! Thank you so much to the all the staff and especially the ones who took care of my son! I would give you guys a 5 star to infinity if it would let me!!!

St Thomas Ascension behavioral hospital was not a very professional place. My husband was recently there for allegedly a week of detox before entering a residential program. Initially St. Thomas said he would be kept there a week. Then they said 2 days then, 4 days, then finally it was 5 days. This allowed for no planning on either my part in getting there from out of state nor for the program he was heading to that had arranged his detox. When he arrived, my husband had psychiatric medication already prescribed by his psychiatrist. St. Thomas did not begin administering these medications for over 2 days after he was admitted. They never administered 1 of the medications. When my husband was released from St Thomas, the residential program he was going to was informed he had all 3 medications in his hands. He did not. They only returned 2 of the medications he arrived with. They did not administer the 3rd drug, nor did they provide him the medications he arrived with. This is a highly questionable practice on their behalf as these were previously prescribed and had been for several months yet St Thomas only saw him for a few days. In addition, St. Thomas provided very confusing information to my husband regarding his transfer to the residential program he was admitted to, leading to great consternation among the residential program, my husband, and me. I would never recommend this place to anyone and would suggest they avoid it at all cost. They never once contacted me in the whole 5 days he was there despite being his husband and despite providing the insurance coverage. Completely unprofessional and unhelpful place to be. Do not allow your loved ones to be places at St Thomas Behavioral Hospital!

Visited the hospital because my health concerns were becoming worse. Once I received all my results I decided I was ready to leave. The staff insisted I waited till the doctor could come to talk about my results and that it was too complicated to do the ama paperwork... I felt pressured to stay so I did. Shortly after the doctor left I asked for my IV to be removed. I was then told that I needed to wait to fill out discharge paperwork. I asked a few more times for them to take my IV out so I could leave and I was ignored. Eventually the nurse came in. She told me she would remove it as soon as I filled out the paperwork. Not only did they force me to stay but she came in with a smug look on her face. I guess it's all a joke to the staff.

All the nurses ive met are all so nice and have great bedside manners. So at this hospital you do not get a menu you just get whatever they give you weather you eat it or not. its very wasteful. They food isnt even a little good . In the last 3 days the best thing ive had was broth lol. The roast was flavorless to say the least lol the eggs im pretty sure they arent really eags . At least the nurses and drs are great because the food is 100% trash .

My mom was transported here from another hospital 2 hours away due to lack of beds at the closer hospital. My mom was having heart issues originally and it was discovered she had Covid. The staff on her floor were HORRIBLE! Rude, unprofessional and speak to you as if you're stupid. They do NOT treat Covid patients with respect. They are treated like lepers or outcasts. SHAME on you for treating patients that way. I feel ashamed of recommending this hospital!! If she ever has to come up here to the hospital again, we will take our chances with Vanderbilt or Tri Star!!

our daughter had back surgery. we know our surgeon is well qualified. but the post op care is something to be desired. Just basic nursing care was not there. the rooms are too small & I guess the they are understaffEd. There seems to be a real lack of knowledge to keep pain within reason & not wait till way out of control & then try to play catch up. my daughter suffered so bad because young inexperienced nurses do not understand pain. it was a horrible 2 days. would not recommend to anyone I care about. never again! One nurse on night shift got it & kept My daughter somewhat comfortable but the rest would say just wait about 15 min & I will be back. nope that turned into 40 or 50 min. imagine what they feels like when your in pain. The nurses were not consistent with anything other than no it's not time. and would not talk to the doctor to help with pain control. Never have I seen such care. and whom ever put tegaderm on a surgical incision without a gauze pad next to the skin needs to be fired. not acceptable!!!!!

I warned the hospital that I would write this review and they didn't seem to care. I just want to know why I had to sit there for 12 hours from 6 pm til 6am, almost alone, watching this wonderful lady flail around in agony, having to change diapers myself and bedding and watch her gouge her eye out. The hospital nurse bad evening was overwhelmed with others on that floor, and told us to not worry, that she wasn't having a stroke. Oh, and then when I told the head nurse at 6 am, they decided to throw her brain dead body on an ambulance to another hospital, just to verify what we already knew. Hmmm... Why wasnt she in intensive care while she was in her extreme state? ....Again, I told them I would report this and even hire a lawyer, and they didn't seem to care. Since then, I've made the mistake of going there for urological procedures, twice, and now I've had to go Vanderbilt to get the procedures done correctly. I will probably turn this into a complaint in the next month if I don't get some sort of response from them. Beware folks

Up until now, I have had good experiences at St Thomas. My cardiologist is excellent. I tested positive for Covid today. I debated whether to get checked out at the ER, since AI have heart failure and I'm old! At the encouragement of my daughter, I went to the St Thomas ER today. i arrived st 1:30 or thereabouts. They had my records, so that was simple. I requested an EKG, so they did that. After that it was chaotic! The bathrooms had flooded, so quite a walk to find one which had no tp. After that it was simply sit and wait. At one point I asked if my name had been called, thinking maybe I had missed it , but they assured me my name had not been called. I noticed that names were called infrequently so I finally surmised that they only had one doctor there. At 5:15, I finally realized this was going to take longer than I could endure. They need an efficiency study! My background is in healthcare and I know that they work. I now know that the only way to go to the ER is by ambulance. So my advice is to forget about the ER unless you are dying. Better still, die at home!

I was at St. Thomas for a valvuloplasty of my heart valve. Cardiologists were great, but nursing staff poor. Equipment in room was not good. In house phone never worked to order meals. Tray over bed had wheel problem so bad I spilled water trying to use it and had to be replaced. TV remote did ot work well. Food was terrible and their staff were terrible, did ot deliver what I ordered. When I called a nurse for help I had to wait over an hour and sometimes they never came at all. Had to put my in room chair in doorway to try to get a nurse, most of which were not just practical nurses and not RN's and could not answer questions. I was on output which means they were collecting urine. When container got full I had to get them to come to empty it, so they could record amount. I called them a number of times to come and waited over an hour and they did not come. I asked them when a nurse did come to remember to check it but they never did. When I saw the cardiologist before procedure and in hospital I specifically asked to see him for 30 day followup in addition to having him find me a cardiologist experienced with valve issues in the Knoxville area since I did not live in Nashville. I was assurred by him and his staff that would be done. Upon discharge I discovered in my paperwork that they did NOT do that, they referred me to just a nurse practitioner who was not qualified to manage my complex cardiac situation. I am very disappointed in Ascension St. Thomas. They used to be good prior to Ascension taking over. They were good back in 2018 when I was there for heart issues and also in 2021 when I was there for lung surgery, but now.....no, I'm sorry to say all the poor ratings are what they deserve, including mine. My 2 stars was probably one star higher then they deserved.

My husband saw a St Thomas doctor at Henry County Medical Center. They can't even file his Medicare. They just billed me. When I called with info, they STILL didn't bill Medicare. They have now sent me to collections. Won't be seeing a doctor here. This is BS!!!!!!!!!!

Dr Browning at urgent care in Springfield Tennessee is unreachable. I went to Skyline Medical Center emergency room with a diagnosis of four cracked ribs and I was told to see my care provider. It is supposed to be Doctor Browning a friend brought in all my records from Skyline and handed the hardcopies to the ladies at the front desk to be given to Doctor Browning because they said their phones are out of order and they did not get a fax from Skyline. They were brought in to Doctor Browning's office and hand delivered to the front desk I have been trying to get in touch with them for two days now with no return calls and no one there to answer the phone I'm going to try to find a provider of service that will be there for me when I need them so far all my experiences with this office have been very very poor and lack of all together

Disappointed with my visit, placed in a corner with curtains to have nurses (not to care for me) coming in and out the entire time I was there. Provider was kind, but didn't help my complaints.

I have had surgeries at Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital in the past for both spinal surgeries and hospitalization so I thought I knew what I was in for. But this was the MOST HORRIBLE experience I have ever been thru. For my previous spinal fusion I had done several years ago, I woke up with a morphine drip and spent 5 days in hospital. Over all, my care and recovery was top notch and I recommended this facility to everyone. However, after my recent experience this month with a far more major surgery involved, something drastically has changed and none of it for the good of the patient. I woke up in the most unbelievable pain and such low dose pain medication without a morphine drip to help in the slightest. I have endured many painful procedures in my life but NONE compared to this time. I was in constant agony and my complaints went ignored altogether. I kept telling everyone who came into my room there was something horribly wrong with my pain and my legs but it was completely ignored. Worse still was that the hospital, either due to their own profits or the over control that insurance companies now have, they were bent on discharging me by the next day. They did have to keep me for an extra day but then I went home where I continued to get worse and worse and the pain reached such levels that I was rushed back to Nashville and ended up in the emergency room after much insistence on mine and my families part insisting that something was wrong and insisting tests were ran to find out what was going on. I was admitted to the ER and after several days and test later, it turned out that during the original surgery that I had developed blood clots in both my legs causing the extreme leg and lower back and pelvic pain. But still, their management of the pain was at such an unmanageable level that I wanted to die. And still, both the hospital and the insurance was once again trying to discharge me as quick as they could to save money and gain profits at patients expense. They also now will only provide 3 days worth of pain meds when they discharge you so that right now I sit in extreme pain and in tears as I have never known pain at this level. Whatever the medical field and the insurance companies are doing to protect their interests and their profits, it is all too glaringly obvious that they are doing this all at the patients expense and they do not care. I will NEVER recommend this facility again nor will I ever have another procedure done there again. The fact that the insurance companies have more authority over OUR medical care and treatment which is being allowed by our government and our politicians is an absolute disgrace and completely unforgiveable. I have to have both hips replaced still once I make enough of a recovery but there is no way I can wrap my mind around EVER putting myself thru something like this again. If it hadn't been for my own family's insistence that I be seen by the ER, I do not believe that I would have survived my procedure. I am so frightened now to ever go thru a surgical procedure again after this that I do not know what I will do for my other surgeries. All I can say is anyone needing surgery or hospitalization, realize that we as patients are not where the focus is on and do your research before considering going to this facility. I would never have believed that my opinion of a facility could change so drastically until now but it has and we as patients need to protect ourselves now from the greed of the insurance companies and the medical groups that have lost sight of who they should be focusing on.

I've been in the ER twice this year. On the 1st visit, I had been to another ER. They sent me home. When I decided I had to go back, I went to Ascension. By the time I got there, I was in bad shape. I had a major liver infection and a stuck gall stone. I was in the hospital for about a week. On the 2nd visit, I was admitted. My gall bladder was removed that day. In the ER, they got to me quick and pulled me in a room. Everyone was polite, informative and moved quick. For each procedure, they kept me informed. During surgery, they called and informed my contact and gave them details along the way. The Doctor's and nurses kept me informed (once I was coherent). The nurses were wonderful. I have veins that run and hide, and IVs are difficult. They would have a specialist come from Surgery to insert. They were all very careful with my comfort, and so nice that it made the stay much better. The food service had issues and needs an overhaul. One worker was rude when I said good morning and practically threw my food at me. She made a show of lifting it up with her arms and throwing it down. Hopefully that crazy has left the building. The next visit they were nice but they served me a quesadilla after having my gall bladder removed. I thought that was suspect but I couldn't eat at that point anyway and stuck to the side jello. This was the only downside that I experienced. My family even commented on how they had never experienced a staff that kept them informed the way that they did here.

The staff are real nice. But I went to the ER and was at St. Thomas for three days and was released. Ended up back in the ER that same night for the same problem with my stomach. I have never met a surgeon that was so against going a head and doing the surgery. Dang just do it and fix me already.

If you need behavioral health services, you need to go to Vanderbilt's Psychiatric Assessment Service. This hospital does not have the appropriate staff to treat patients experiencing mental health crisis. Given we are experiencing a nationwide mental health crisis, I was extremely not even disappointed, but concerned for the lack of bedside manner and empathy I saw and experienced firsthand for people needing someone to help them. I was left in a room. No one checked on me. I decided I needed to talk to someone so I chose the security guard who talked to me for hours. He is not even trained in mental health services but he did more for me than the entire staff combined. He simply listened. I felt like a burden to the doctor. I work in mental health care. Based on my training, they did literally everything wrong you could do.

When I was there the patient care technician Carly Cepelak was the rude and was making fun of the patients never go to this place! If they employ someone like this what other vermin do they employ! Stay away

My husband recently had back surgery. I week later he fell down some stairs at home. I immediately took him to Ascension Saint Thomas ER. Everything started out well. Once they put him in a room care went down hill. They put leads him that was intended for another possible stroke patient. I understand mistakes are made. My issue is with the nurses not checking on us. Our door to our room was open and it seemed like the nurses were having a party and was very loud. My husband neck was hurting because they never gave him a pillow, so I went to the nurse's station and I had to stand there for awhile before they notice me. I told them I needed a pillow and they said, "We don't have any pillows", REALLY! We will get him a sheet or blanket and roll it up for a pillow. The PA on duty that night was very thorough, kind and knowlegable. After he assured us that all the test can back negative he said we could go home. A nurse brought us our discharge papers and she left. We got ready to leave and nobody helped us or offered to get us a wheelchair. As we passed the nurse's station as my husband was walking slow and leaning on me they never looked up or said anything to us. Very poor service. Hope we don't have to go there anymore.

My daughter (18) was suffering from dehydration from 3 days ago due to not being able to keep anything down (had it from both ends). We went to her primary dr this morning who recommended she go to the emergency room for fluids and something for nausea. We went to St Thomas Hospital West due to the convenient location to where we lived. I was hesitant because I had a terrible experience after knee surgery 3 years ago. Well, I can now say nothing has changed. We waited over 2 hrs and were told at least twice it wouldn't take too long and we were next in line. My daughter has seizures and is at a much higher risk when sick, especially when she can't keep her seizure medicine down. Every person who came in the waiting room after us was seen before us and they didn't look to be any more critical than us. The front desk male attendant was very rude to us when we decided to leave. We left and went to Vida flow and was seen within 10 minutes and left after 25 minutes of receiving IV fluids complete with an anti-nausea supplement, Zofran. DO NOT GO TO ST THOMAS HOSPITAL WEST if you want to be treated poorly and have hours to wait!

Lack of communication within the hospital groups is astounding. Was left in pain for upwards of 9 hours with no visit from a nurse or doctor. Had medicines and other tests given or discontinued without even informing the patient first.

I ate at the hospital cafeteria I ordered the classic hamburger based on taste and texture it was a frozen patty the only thing fresh on it was the topping. The patty was over cooked dry the grill cook pressed the burger you only do that if ordered well done. I would not recommend eating here for what they sell is over priced and under delivered. The Mac and cheese looks and tasted like came out of a bag! The best thing I ate was the pre packaged chips and coke. I have eaten better out of an MRE in combat in Iraq!

It's really clean here and there's always the BEST services! The associates are amazing, they care about you! I'd highly recommend for regular appointments and emergencies.

We are spending several days @ St. Thomas West and had to say if you need medical care this is the place. 7th-floor Pulmonology is helping so much. One really bright spot was Billy S.. He challenges patents mentally and physically. He is my kind of tech. I'm not saying the others are not good but he went far and above to make sure our night was the best it could be under these conditions. Thank you Billy.

Friendly and helpful. They kept me well taken care of when I almost died from a blood clot in 2020.

Was on the phone with a staff member, Blake, after I got off the phone with my fiancé. He'd been seen to take his vitals, then after 40-60 minutes taken to a room, where no one saw him or did ANYTHING. Just plopped him down in a bed, despite his fever. I asked about Covid tests, none. And was blatantly lied to saying the doctor had seen him and he was given medication while he's texting me no one has been in the room. Blake, 46 minutes is close enough to an hour, especially when your records say he's been seen when he HASNT.

Saint Thomas took me in at midnight Thursday night and they could see I was very so they expedited the process. I'm an extremely complicated case when it comes to dealing with my foot. The oncall surgeon listened intently and brought in reinforcements. They took blood cultures as they expected I had an infection. I was given a room and broad spectrum antibiotics as another specialist came to review my case. By 10 am the next morning I had spoken to 5 specialist who actively took an interest in my case. Within 24 hours they had isolated the bacteria and scheduled surgery to close up a wound. There quick valiant actions intercepted the virus before it got into my bones. God certainly directed us to Saint Thomas so I don't want to steal any of His credit.

I have nothing but positive things to say about the staff's here. I've had family members who was hospitalized here. I can't thank the staff enough for caring for my father and my cousin.

Okay, it's not Mayo Clinic, but it is a fair, though somewhat smaller, facsimile. And, it is vastly superior to Vanderbilt...at least as far as the administration and customer relations efforts are concerned. St Thomas is a modern facility. It is clean and well organized. It is not difficult for one to navigate through (Unlike Vandy) and here, for me is the clincher, the staff is unendingly friendly, concerned, competent and efficient. At every step of the way I felt I was in good hands and was never left to 'fend for myself'. I only visited the hospital for a routine check-up and both the Nurse and Doctor who attended me were as good as I have experienced, anywhere. The administrative staff were equally good. Finally I urge people to check reviews from people who routinely review on Yelp. One-time reviewers are generally those who have only criticism, and while the criticism may be pertinent and deserved, it may be tinged with unrealistic expectations and emotions that would generally be absent from the reviews of habitual critics. I was very pleasantly surprised at St Thomas and will certainly be back when issues medical surface.

The rudest emergency room nurses I have ever experienced. Before I could even tell them of my ex IV user she ripped up my sleeve and made a loud announcement "Oh your an IV user!" I was like x but okay that's not why I am here. I'm here cause I have horrible migraines, can't breathe and extremely painful to sit stand or walk. As I was trying to tell her my symptoms she grabbed my other sleeve and very forcibly threw it up my arm. The other nurse said oh her heartbeat is high and her blood pressure low... maybe she dehydrated..... No shit I was trying to tell you that.Than they put me in a wheel chair and shoved me in a closet and left. Not checking the rest of my vitals or letting me describe my symptoms. I got up to leave but had to use the restroom. I asked the lady where the restroom was and the other nurse handed me a UA cup. I was like omg wtf is wrong with them. I finished using the restroom than threw the UA cup at them and told them that they aren't hero's but caddy bitches. This is why people hate hospitals and die in their homes. Healthy people don't go to hospitals, sick people do. To be treated like that was uncalled for. I ended up going home for a while another week and almost dying before going to TriStar Medical Center and was treated so nice there. DO NOT GO HERE HORRIBLE STAFF

The staff is caring and friendly. The doctors have been keeping me informed - which is NOT what our local hospital does. The only reason the review isn't 5 stars is that the parking is AWFUL!! Its undergoing renovation, but there is very little signage indicating how to get into the hospital. It's not the staff's fault, but it does make seeing someone in the hospital a chore.

My 68 yr old wife had a heart attack due to congestive heart failure. She was transferred from Clarksville to Nashville the next day. She was heavily medicated at first, then slowly had drugs reduced, and at last extubated. In a few words, the ICU and the cardiologist saved her life! Lastly, they got her strong enough and stable enough to transfer her to a rehab center to enable her to return home to California, where she has been fitted with a pacemaker/defibrillator. We are going to be married for quite a while yet Downer? The patient services department is worse than execrable. Were I rating only them the numbers would have to be negative. They neither answer the phone nor return calls. When I went to confront them personally there was no one in the office. If you insist on having a heart attack in Tennessee go to St Thomas.

I went in to the ER on a sunday afternoon with an issue with my foot. I had a short wait before being taken to a room where I met Mark an ER nurse. He was very kind, patient and looked out for me all the way to my room once I was admitted. I have nothing but great things to say about him. Once I was in my room on 7D I had a whole host of nurses and techs that looked out for me through what had turned into a very traumatic event for me. Caroline, Sarah, Megan, Ellie, Phyllis, Carole and Victor were my nurses and they were so very attentive. Their techs, Adrienne, Robyn, Billy, Tyler and Demetrius were awesome as well. I can't say enough about the staff that I delt with. Also I cant forget Mrs Lewis in food service. She prayed with me one of my days in the hospital and made my day. This hospital is amazing.

I had to go to this hospital to meet my doctor. I loved the FREE parking and the FREE Parking garage...with Free Valet parking...great !!! That is really great in my book. My doctor was located in a different wing, the workers were so helpful in guiding me to the right area. The hospital was nice and clean. I liked it and felt comfortable in the hospital. I would definitely go here again. Also had to have some blood work. The lab tech was a little slow but nice. Very helpful in answering questions.

What an amazing staff and facility. Everyone was so helpful and caring. They gave my 83-year-old mother top-notch care, and have saved her life. I can't thank them all enough. It took numerous doctors, nurses, and orderlies to provide the level of care they did. I applaud the hospital itself for being so well-staffed. Even over the weekend, there was no shortage of caregivers ever. My mother was so sick. It seemed like when they fixed one thing another would crop up, and they'd have to deal with that. She had contracted a urinary tract infection that spread through her whole body. Her kidneys and digestive system began to shut down. Her heart went into atrial fibrillation. And she was so mentally changed by the sepsis, she could not be left alone. She hallucinated, and couldn't sleep without torment. She had so many health crises going on all at once that we thought we might lose her. (In fact, we all but expected to.) My family all took shifts watching her 24/7. We don't live in Nashville, but thankfully they have the Inn at the hospital, and we were able to stay right there and trade shifts of watching her and sleeping when we could. The hospital staff persevered, and finally began to overcome the series of issues my mother needed to recover from. They gave her the best care possible, and treated her with dignity and respect (even affection, it seemed). After what seems like weeks, my mother is recovering. She was finally made well enough to go to a physical rehab facility, where she is regaining her strength, independence, and mental faculties. We went from preparing for her death to preparing for the rest of her life. And we have the staff at St Thomas West to thank for that.

I came in here for what I thought would be a quick fix, but ended up staying overnight. Nothing major, they just wanted to reassure that I was still doing okay in the morning. That's quite expensive, frustrating, and morning altering. Luckily my nurse, Taylor N, is an absolute angel. I'm pretty's sure that Jesus left the gates of heaven open and she snuck down to my room. Kind, funny, thorough, knowledgeable, compassionate, pretty, and the best smile you've ever seen. Thank you.

Very poor follow up care, be prepared to be your own advocate, very poor customer service and communication, you will need to do your own research about your condition, the nursing staff is amazing but doctors are arrogant and not helpfuli. I had a horrible experience.diagnoseddiebeyic d didn't, but given no instructions on how to check my blood sugar.good thing I know how to do research. I wouldn't go back for free my advice,go to another hospital.

I came in for a doctors appointment as a new patient. Every person I encountered was so kind and helpful! At one point I got lost looking for the garage I parked in and an employee who was in surgery scrubs so I assume was a doctor or nurse offered to walk me to where I needed to go. Above and beyond any expectation! I would have been happy with a point or verbal direction. I highly recommend this Hospital.
