As an insomniac, I have difficulty enough sleeping at home in familiar surroundings, so, travel can be a nightmare for me, but I advised Rob & Margit of my requirements and they suggested their quietest, darkest room (206) on the second floor, with north-facing windows. The rooms have been well-renovated; retaining the original moldings and windows, while adding a fully-modern bathroom, Wi-fi, satellite TV and central air conditioning. Due to a change in plans, I extended my stay from the original two nights to five, and they did their best to accommodate me over the busy Fourth of July weekend. Did I mention that breakfast is included? This isn't a cheesy continental breakfast or buffet-style service, this is all made to your order: Buttermilk pancakes from scratch (not a mix!), omelets, bacon, sausage, fruit salad, oatmeal plus homemade muffins or scones. (Not having to pay for a full breakfast probably saves you $15?) The fridge is also kept well-stocked with a wide assortment of free beverages, plus a reserved area can be used to keep your own food or drinks chilled. (Possibly another $5 a day saved?) And free admission to the Currier Museum! Another nice touch was the local daily newspaper available (I really hate how USA Today is de rigueur in most hotels.) The new owners are really doing a tremendous job running this place.
One note: If you require a quiet room, make sure you get one on the second floor (you can't go just by room number).
