At arrival the reserved room was suddenly taken and only a more expensive room was left. Later on it turned out that the hotel was completely empty. The room also couldn't be locked, so that was a bit strange as well. ||The food seemed like catfood and wasn't much, but it tempered the hunger. Except for one guy the staff was unfriendly, but the room was comfortable so that was at least one positive aspect.

My first time in Kumasi and I was hoping to enjoy it but Ashati Gold hotel brought down my hope. Room had a stench, tv was not work and worst amongst the many...tap was not flowing... I was very disappointed

I visited in the second week of November, 2016. Someone once invested a huge sum of money in this property because the building and the grounds are still in good shape. However, the current owners have let many of the amenities and services slip. The pool and adjacent bar were closed, leaving a lovely patio area unused. The on site restaurant was closed, depriving guests of more common area space to relax in. Don't be fooled by claims of there being Wifi. Signal was so weak, it was unusable. On the plus side, the AC did work! The water was cold, but at least there was some to wash up with and to flush. And they even provided a towel in the rooms that cost 120 cedis a night and up. Looks like it was once a really happening place. Now the staff is overworked and two staff members quit the week I was staying there. All that being said, this situation is the not by far the worst in Ghana, but more like the norm.

Not the best hotel I stayed in in Ghana. Not that bad, reception area is okay and checked in quick, gated off so you feel safe enough. Rooms were okay but not as clean as you'd like, some of the electrics such as plug sockets not working or in great condition, lots of fly's in the bathroom. Service for breakfast was probably slowest I experienced in Ghana. Sufficient but if I go back I wouldnt stay here again

I spent a night here in June 2014. The rooms were very nice, with comfortable beds and air conditioning. They had hot water, too! The hotel staff is very nice and there's always someone at the reception 24/7, which is nice if you're coming in or coming back late. The breakfast took an extraordinarily long time to be prepared and wasn't part of the room price so I would recommend eating elsewhere in the morning, especially if you have plans to tour during the day. The hotel's location is ideal as it's just behind the cultural centre, which is also very close to Kejetia Market and tro-tro station. The swimming pool at the hotel was a disappointment, though, as it's very small and was not clean so we did not feel comfortable swimming there.

We chose this hotel as it had a good write up in the guide book and had apparently won several tourist awards. The signs were there as we arrived as it took ages to find a member of staff. After two nights there it felt like it existed purely for the benefit of the staff and that guests were a nuisance. The staff were conspicuous by their absence. When we did see them they were rude, walking into our room without knocking and painfully slow to respond to any request. There was no sign at all of the friendly, welcoming, helpful response that we had become accustomed to in Ghana. The 'restaurant' was supposed to be open from 7.30 for breakfast, there was no sign of anyone until 8.30 . It then took 45 minutes to produce hot water and a slice of toast, we were the only people being served. It was as bad in the evening. On the second morning we needed to leave early so we told them we wanted breakfast at 7.30, still no one turned up until 8.30. The rooms were gloomy and ostentatious but nothing worked. No wifi because of a storm. Noisy early in the morning from a nearby race track.

This was by far the worst place we stayed out of the five hotels we stayed in Ghana. We stayed in several low cost hotels that for similar price but were much better. The Asanti Gold was probably a great place in the past but not now. ||There's inadequate lighting -our room was so poorly lit that we couldn't even read; the electricity sockets were hanging out of the walls; the restaurant was closed and the staff were rude. We moved out after one night.

Horrific from start to finish. Rude receptionist, horrific eye sore decor -they clearly had too much gold and green paint about 10yrs ago and used the lot. ||Room smelt rank, air-con noisy, dirty walls (no idea how walls get filthy), 'guaranteed hot water' is a joke! Double the price of some other places we stayed which were much nicer. I suggest you go down the road and stay at Cocoa Village guesthouse and actually enjoy your stay. Breakfast not included but you don't want it anyway. Mirrors everywhere!! Just down right horrible
