Ashdowns of Dover Bed & Breakfast

Stayed for 1 night on a 10 night quick Tassie visit. Excellent is the only word needed. Gary texted early to say our room was ready whenever we wanted & also booked dinner for us at the RSL (great food & walkable). Spent a relaxing afternoon at the hide hoping to see platypus! Most comfortable bed & luxurious linen. Breakfast was amazing!! Fresh eggs & veg from the garden. Highly recommend.

The best host we've ever had at a B and B, polite knowledge and great advice. The Africa room was larger than average and there was a lounge dining area to use as well. Easy to find, easy to access everything we wanted to do. Good facility and great breakfast, we shall return

One of the best BnBs we have stayed at. Our host was fantastic, very informative and looked after us like rock stars. The rooms were very clean, beds comfortable and the hot breakfast was fantastic. In addition to the hot breakfast, we also received complimentary muesli, yoghurt and fruit, coffee and a variety of jams. Great host and would definitely stay again. A must if visiting the south of the state.

Perfect place to stay for visiting Hastings Cave. Attentive host. Coeliac catered for. Clean and tidy with peaceful view. Comfy bed in African styled room with en suite. Great brekkie. Large bedroom. Good communal area though we were there by ourselves

What can one say about Mr Gary Ashdown? A lot of incredible things pertaining to his ability to not only be the best host and give the guidance of an expert in the Dover and surrounding areas but also have the absolute best food and services. This is an understatement in itself. I have stayed here many a time and my lovely partner and I will most definitely be back. Gary is the epitome of excellence in the food and guesthouse industry and is to be recognised as a frontrunner. The value for money is excellent with the beautifully decorated themed rooms, spacious land, lovely little creekside dwelling and cozy outdoor fire, the experience is second to none! Once again Gary, we can’t thank you enough for looking after us and our interstate visitors so well. We can’t rate you highly enough. The rooms are beautifully presented, exceptionally comfortable, and spotlessly clean. The afternoon tea, on arrival, of home made scones and jam was welcoming , and the breakfast was simply fantastic. Thank you for booking the RSL dinner for us too. We’ll definitely be back. It’s a wonderful spot to stay with regard to visiting the Tahune air-walk and Hastings Caves.

a perfect B&B run and managed by a genuine travelers, The property is exactly what a traveler would want. amazing service, great loaction and everything in perfect order.|The three rooms are well furnished. The food and dining was well prepared and wholesome, easy access to town and great driving and holiday location.

Our stay at this bed & breakfast was absolutely fantastic. The rooms were spotless, and the beds were incredibly comfortable, making for a perfect night’s sleep. One highlight was the beautiful, spacious backyard filled with flowers and sheep – so peaceful and refreshing! Gary went above and beyond to accommodate us. When a booking issue arose, he handled it flexibly and kindly by arranging an extra room at no additional cost. We were also pleased to find a Tesla charging station on-site, which was incredibly convenient. The breakfast was another highlight – freshly prepared and delicious, with muesli, yogurt, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, eggs, toast, and hot tea. Gary and his wife are such kind and thoughtful hosts. Highly recommend this place for its comfort, excellent hospitality, and attention to detail!
