Creative art spaces in Xiamen, China - SilverKris

"Opened in October 2018, this sleek steel-and-glass venue anchors a deliberate push to transform a small fishing village into an art destination; it prominently displays the distinctive Neorealist, oversized sculptures of Chen Wenling and signals the local government's larger redevelopment plans that include major investment in cultural infrastructure." - Vanessa Tai

The museum was designed by renowned Japanese architect, Kenzo Tange. This museum although is in Nice, I can imagine myself in Tokyo overlooking the same pond. I came to see the Sumo exhibition and I wasn't disappointed. It's well worth a visit. There are small lockers available. I bought a poster and Japanese incense from the gift shop. I look forward to visit again in upcoming exhibitions.

A hidden gem near Nice Airport. The building itself is striking, modern and floating above water. Inside, you’ll find a compact but elegant collection of Asian art from China, Japan, India and Southeast Asia. Exhibits are well explained in French and English. Free entry, calm atmosphere, and a lovely escape from the busy city. Great to combine it with a stroll through Parc Phoenix next door.

It is a small but very unique museum (on different aspects). The location (attached to Parc Phoenix), the building itself (surrounded by water & incorporated there nicely) and the history it tells. Just having in mind how big Asia is and what long history it went through - not too many items are there. The exposition is well presented. But number of items could be much bigger having in mind the rich history of that region. Anyway, it was free entrance (July 2023), so no regrets.

Note - as of August 2025 they will allow you to store backpacks in their lockers but not wheeled luggage. Apparently it is a city policy at all museums and zoos due to the 2016 terrorist incident. However, we were told that the coffee shop across the street (Emilie and the cool kids) will let you leave your wheeled luggage there. Otherwise, it's a small museum composed of 3 small floors. Cool temporary exhibit on sumo wrestling. storage, backpack, luggage, suitcase

Amazing free museum it is very small only 20 to 30 minutes to go around over 3 floors. Well worth it if you are in the area. Only down side the descriptions are only in French no other translations. It is worth spending time here combined with the garden and park.

Really nice collection of Asian art. It’s fairly small, takes about an hour or two max, but entrance is free. Temporary exhibition are also good, mix of modern and classic art. Near the airport and tram station, so worth to visit for a pleasant afternoon!

Very interesting collection, not too many pieces and a beautiful building. The temporary exhibitions are also really worthy, unusual themes, excellent connections.

Amazing current exhibit of Tin Tin on the lower level. The main floor has smaller rooms of items from Asia including India, Japan, and China. The upstairs has a large selection of Buddhism and meditation. There is a sweet size gift store . Free admission
