This review is only for the massage as we did not stay at the hotel, but the hotel reception counter is located directly next to the massage area and the same hotel receptionist also serves as the massage receptionist. And she was full of bad attitude - a likely indication of the quality (or distinct lack thereof) of your stay if you choose to use the hotel.
We came in a group of four and each chose a different massage. In order to make a booking one has to pay a deposit, which I did. This seems to be common practice here so we did not say anything.
The massage itself was conducted in a cramp room with other customers, and was mediocre at best. There was no semblance of relaxation as the masseurs chatted with eachother and no music was played. The technique employed could not match the Thai or Indonesians, but I guess this is not what Vietnam is known for so I have no qualms.
At the end of the 1 hour massage, the masseur blatantly asked for a tip. Nowhere else in Asia have I experienced this so boldly. I tipped her for what I thought was a mediocre experience and she commented “so little?”. I ignored this.
On payment the receptionist wanted to collect all the payment for 4 people, but I told her we would be paying individually. She rolled her eyes and openly displayed rudeness and hostility, even with other customers at the reception in front of her.
I cannot comment if this is cultural or situational as I have received mixed service standards with the Vietnamese. However what is for certain is that this establishment is mediocre, rude and definitely not worth your money nor patronage. Avoid like the plague.
