What a special place this is. It reminded me of my childhood in a mobile home in Wexford. While you're not short of everything you need, it is a little rough and ready, but this is what you should expect when booking a barge. It's not a 5 star hotel after all but it definitely deserves a 5 star rating here. The boats are beautiful and have a proper history behind them and are moored in a lovely post industrial area that has been turned into a beautiful, peaceful and serene spot almost in the heart of the city. There's a quirky bar that's very popular and a hidden garden which has been artfully constructed from materials that have been, pre loved, shall we say.
The staff, when we saw them, were very friendly and helpful.
The area it's situated in, is an up and coming, soon to be gentrified place and we loved the cool bars and restaurants close by.
Getting into the city is super easy and buses and trains are regular as clockwork. The longest we had to wait was 8 minutes and that's how long it takes to get to central station. Fantastic.
After a busy and hectic day in the city this is a perfect place to relax and have a drink or meal at the bar or on the deck of your boat. Did I mention the sauna on the jetty? Perfect to unwind in and then jump into the canal or the plunge bath.
All in all I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.
