Unfortunately, on the day we wanted to visit Mt Aso, there were storms with mini hailstones and also lots of fog.
We stopped here for a rest after driving all the way from Kagoshima. There is a bus and train station, where you can find toilets.
Across the street, there is a farmers' market that has local produce, including bento boxes and sandwiches by locals. We bought a couple of beef bentos, as well as a cheesecake wheel, strawberries and chiffron cakes slices.
There is a small dining room for customers, but do note that you need to remove your footwear and also sit Japanese style.
Carpark lots are limited but free.
