Asoka Restaurant, Bar and Lounge

Woww! Such a lovely place. The team and service was exceptional. Food so delicious we would have ordered everything twice although we were already full hehe. Beautiful location and space, very cozy and thoughtfully decorated. There was live jazz music and such a nice atmosphere. Hope to be back soon.

We had a wonderful evening at ASOKA. A fabulous and cozy spot with a charming ambiance that sets the mood just right for our winter birthday celebration. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for a special night out. Our waitress, Emma, was an absolute star. She was professional, attentive, and friendly, adding to the overall great experience. We were pleasantly surprised with complimentary sparkling wine in celebration of a birthday, which was a lovely touch. We tried their three-course special and really enjoyed it. Everything was fresh and full of flavour. The crispy pork belly was a bit dry and under-seasoned, but the rest of the food made up for it. My only wish is that the portions were slightly more generous, especially considering the pricing. Overall, still a lovely experience and I’d definitely go back!

I’ve been here under recommendation from the staff from their sister restaurant - Kloof street house. The food was good, but very tiny portions. It’s a nice ambience and atmosphere, but it gets crowded and very noisy. What was more disappointing was the service: I came in, approached the host and initiate a conversation, if felt super awkward, when I ask ‘how are you’ they looked at each other like I’ve asked a weird question. I was sat at the bar - which I usually like because it’s a great spot for socialising. No menu was given to me till I asked for, then the waiter at the bar took my order very confusingly. Food came, no cutlery were served, I asked again. No apologies from the staff at all. Bar was loud, the staff was loudly talking to each other, there was nearly no space as it was occupied by bar equipment. If you offer bar seating, you must be able to guarantee the same service you’d offer at the table. They will not see me again, but I’ll try the kloof street house.

Great venue. Really slow service but the waiters are quite friendly and have nice energy. The host however did give a table I asked our waiter to move us to to a different couple who asked after us, the waiter just had not told the host immediately when I asked. Went for a Jazz night which was nice. The resturant itself has a great layout and decor. Food is actually really good as well. Particularly the seared Salmon, tuna tacos and chicken tikka skewers

Unfortunately we were 13 minutes past our reservation time so our table was given to someone else. We got another table and the staff would notify us if there was another available. In the meantime we got our drinks and courses and we were relaced after a while. Good service and amazing food. Be sure to try out the cocktails!

We had reserved a table for two at 8 PM for Asoka Tuesday and were really looking forward to the evening. The confirmation email even mentioned that we would receive a “lovely table,” and we were excited about the live music since we had heard great things about Asoka Tuesday online. However, when we arrived, we were unexpectedly seated outside on low couches and coffee tables. Because of this, we couldn’t enjoy the live music at all. On top of that, there were strong wind gusts, so hardly anyone was sitting outside—most people only came out to smoke. This was very unpleasant for us, as we don’t want to eat while people are smoking nearby. We were extremely disappointed. After asking if we could be seated inside and being told it wasn’t possible, we decided to leave. Asoka should clearly mention in the confirmation email if dinner reservations will be placed outside in the smoking area. Had we known this in advance, we would not have made the trip.

You pay But you're paying for vibes, not the food. The lights, chairs and decor all make it perfectly cozy. A great location for dates. - Customer service is remarkable, staff is very attentive and accommodating. Food was below average, although the hake tacos were to die for
