"High-Altitude Aspens and Views The fantastic Aspen Vista Trail is higher up in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains along a rocky, dirt road. The trailhead commences at 9,900 feet and tops out at 12,000 feet (at the summit of the Santa Fe ski basin) and provides more exertion and challenge. You will be rewarded with stellar views. Obviously, at the peak of autumn, you'll want to keep your camera handy."

Went today on 10/3/25! Got there around 11:30 am and it was already packed (not surprisingly) but thankful to find a parking spot as soon as we got there. If it is full just be patient usually there are people leaving and going. We did the Alamo Vista trail (trail that is to the left of the fire road) and you are walking in the aspens and just seeing the beautiful yellow colors. The mountains aren’t completely blanketed in fall colors yet but a lot of them are starting to turn and it’s gorgeous! Still a great time to see them and more than enough fall colors to see yellow leaves, some green some red.

I know we all love the leaves changing, but I am very surprised how many people made a trip up there on a Monday. Parking lot was packed, but people were being very relaxed/patient and even helping each other get in and out of parking spots. So many people on the trail, but EVERYONE was happy to be out. Really beautiful area.

Absolutely beautiful! Great trail with various places that offer fantastic views of surrounding peaks and and aspens. Bring water and a jacket, it can get chilly up there.

The aspens in this area are amazing beings that create a tall canopy of golden leaves in late September! The power of the forest is so palpable here. It was busy (on a Sunday), but the “trail” is really a closed-off dirt road, so there was plenty of room for everyone! The higher up you go, the quieter it gets. Many thanks to this mountain for her beautiful majesty.

Hi friends, A very good day to all. I have just been there at Aspen, and it's beautiful out there. While going up there, you might see a sign saying road closed ahead, but nothing to worry, just keep driving until you reach there. Have fun and make lots of memories. Until then, much love. God bless 🙌 🙏

Parking is an issue during fall foliage bonanza, but the hike and the views are excellent.

Was a gorgeous experience with a easy/moderate hike. Parking can be difficult in leaf peeping weeks.
