This is a lovely Italian restaurant with a long history in this strip mall location. They must be doing something right. Sunday afternoon was busy with 2 birthday parties and many other customers. Even though busy it was properly staffed for good service. The food had that grandma cooked taste with ample portions to take home. Pick and choose from their home made sausage, to the seafood or veal dishes, all delicious.

I was there for a post-funeral luncheon and the food was quite good for something served in chafing pans. Chicken was nice and juicy, eggplant was nice, the canoli was a beautiful finish for the meal. Docking a star because the service was mid, the servers were complaining about seemingly the group of us overstaying or something on the other side of the wall. I thought it was tasteless in front of the grieving family. We all have the right to complain about things, but a business should at least find a more private employee area for that to go down. Otherwise it was good. I bet the dinner service is even better than the catering!

Hands-down, the best Italian restaurant in the area. I had Egg plant rollatini that was out of this world. There were four of us for dinner and no one was disappointed. Service was great and friendly. I just wish they had cocktails. He bought our own wine, but sometimes it’s just nice to have a mixed drink.

Celebrating are 60 wedding anniversary with are family a blessing.We were in 3 o clock in afternoon Saturday this waitress proceeded to give us the bums rush from the minute we got there to the minute we left really unacceptable. They charged us $20 more for using a credit card they cut anniversary cake for us and charge the 750 to cut. does not make you feel all warm and fuzzy. The food was great. The atmosphere is great but the person working I I want to thank her for making our anniversary dinner terrible I know my family tipped her very well sadly. in the restaurant industry, where did they find people like this. Sorry I had to give this review but 60 years is a milestone, and she helped make it very unpleasant

There is parking here. Portions are generally large. The chicken parm and escarole side are very good. The salmon feels small by comparison. The chicken Murphy has potato chips that get soggy quickly-don’t get that dish. We disliked how the staff started to clear plates while people were still eating because we were a large party and hadn’t even been at the restaurant for an hour from our reservation so it seemed like the restaurant either tried to stack too many reservations or just weren’t trained that it’s rude and disruptive to clear plates while people are eating on them. The glasses are nice IKEA glasses. The plastic scratched water pitchers felt cheap.

Was in the area on business and a coworker suggested we have dinner here. The food was excellent and the service was great. The menu is extensive, the portions are large, and the prices are quite reasonable. Highly recommend ... and find a nice bottle of wine to enjoy with your meal.

My wife recommended this place, as I haven't been. She wasn't wrong in her recommendation. The service was extremely nice and pleasant, the ambiance was "homely" with pictures of the owners family and some Italian celebrities. The food was reasonably priced and delicious. Even the free rolls came out warm. This establishment is a BYOB, but they welcome it and will ice your drinks or open them for you. Damaris, the owner, came to our table and introduced herself to us to make sure everything was ok. She was so friendly and attentive, that it made us feel that we were part of her family.

Another great dinner, Chicken Parm Thursdays was excellent so worth it great food great price.

I was in the area and found Assaggini using the restaurant feature on my gps. It is located inside of a shopping plaza and there is adequate parking. From the outside it looks like a simple storefront but on the inside, it was a beautifully decorated restaurant. We were welcomed and seated promptly. The server came over and greeted us and asked if we had a bottle for her to open, which we didn't. Unbeknownst to us the restaurant is BYOB. When we shared that it was our first time there she gave us some time to look at the menu. I ended up ordering shrimp parm with linguini, and I asked for the linguini to have white sauce as opposed to the red sauce. She brought over water, a bread basket and bruschetta for the table. I usually prefer lime with my water. They didn't have lime, but she did bring over lemon wedges. While waiting for our meal my company had to step out and by the time the food arrived they weren't back. I asked the sever if I could get a plate to cover their food and she was super accommodating. Upon my companies return the server, even offered to reheat the food for them, which I thought was a nice touch. We declined, but we were still appreciative of the option. My food was very delicious. The white sauce for the linguini was amazing. One of the better Alfredo sauces I've had in this lifetime. The shrimp Parmesan was so so. I felt like it could've used maybe a little bit more seasoning but honestly paired with the pasta. I had no complaints. The restaurant definitely has a family feel and I got the impression that a lot of the patrons are regulars. I don't live in the area, but if I'm ever there again, I would certainly return.

We came back for another Father's Day early dinner. Service was gracious since they accommodated our group to a more comfortable area of the restaurant. Food was good overall. Appetizer Artichoke Meatballs Eggplant rollatini Fried calamari Caesar salad Entrees Salmon Dijon Chicken Milanese Osso Bucco Cheese ravioli w Vodka sauce- they had a miss by adding Mozzerella on top n then briefly putting in the broiler. Dessert NY Cheesecake Ricotta cheesecake Ice cream Desserts are not made in house n just ok. Assagini is a good spot for Italian at reasonable prices. BYOB

Owner is always welcoming. No matter how busy they are she takes the time to greet you and check up on how your meal is.

We like this place and order often. I ordered this meal (picture attached) and it arrived without the sausage or parm. I called them up to make it right and the girl on the phone insisted that I ordered the item without sausage- but it's written right there. The girl on the phone had zero interest in keeping my business. It's just disappointing. Now I have to figure out what to add to this to feed my family.

Fried calamari was tough. Shrimp and garlic sause was very good. Grilled New York steak was barely touched and the filet mignon was ok. Espresso not the best. Service was lovely. Quaint place. BYOB

Assaggini Di Roma is a great choice for an Italian feast if you are in the Hazlet, New Jersey area. The service was friendly and professional. The ambiance is warm and just exudes a great overall vibe. I grew up in New Jersey and just always took it for granted that great Italian restaurants were pretty much on every corner. When I moved down south to Florida, I found that definitely wasn't the case, so whenever I am back up in New Jersey, Italian food is always on my list. Assaggini Di Roma is a great restaurant to choose in the Hazlet, New Jersey area and I would definitely recommend here.

Went again 9/18 and ordered the special chicken, shrimp, and homemade sausage over pappardelle. Was so good!

I've heard rave things about this restaurant and wanted to try it. This place was LOUD. I know you can't expect a quiet dinner on a busy Saturday night but we could hardly hear our own party of 5 talking at the table. Our group of 5 was also sat at a 4 top with the end person right in the way being constantly hit by those walking by. It was extremely cramped for 5 adults. The staff was the saving grace. Our waitress was so nice, professional, and helped us as we had two allergies at the table. As for the food. The caprese salad special was average, nothing outrageous. I also ordered the chicken Francese. While the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, and the sauce was delicious, I couldn't bring myself to finish the chicken. It was very chewy. The house salad was also excellent and I really enjoyed the dressing.

Just came here to get food and they told me they are refusing my to go order because the cook is overwhelmed.. it's a shame because I come here a lot and if I did DoorDash it would be no problem but I can confidently say I've never been told by a restaurant I cannot order food... what a joke and I won't be coming back

We met good friends for dinner at 6:00pm and were seated immediately. All six people enjoyed their meal. We had shared appetizers of calamari, stuffed mushrooms, artichoke in a delicious sauce. Entrees included Veal Parmigiana, Veal Piccata, Scallops and pasta dishes. All very good. It was BYOB so very affordable and the service was excellent.

This place has some serious issues - the first being hygeine. My family and I had dinner here and asked for more bread - we were given another basket after three requests, and the basket had opened and used butter and pieces of bread in it. We returned the basket and asked for a fresh one, and never received it. We spoke with the owner who was nasty and rude and couldn't care less that her customers were complaining. The only dish on the menu that is good is ravioli with a la vodka sauce. The other dishes we tried are average at best and the service is terrible. You literally have to ask 3 times before getting what you have requested. This, in combination with getting food (the bread) that other people have already touched, makes this restaurant one of the worst we have been to. There are much better restaurants in the area where you can spend your money on good food, better service and without fear of eating something that another customer has handled and has touched.

In the month of December I ate dinner here 3 times. The food was really good. They couldn't do enough for us. Two groups of 10 and our Garden club had a holiday party with 45 people. The appetizers, main meal and deserts were delicious. So many different dishes ordered and everyone was so happy and full of praise.

This is our go to place for Italian food in the area, DeMaris is a treasure, she always makes you feel like family and the food is delicious. My favorite is the Frank Sinatra, check this place out!

Three of us went for dinner. Overall, the food was very good. I was a little disappointed in my chicken Parmesan. The chicken was very chewy, and not crispy. The sauce with the pasta was fine. We also have the sausage and potato appetizer with long hots and that was excellent. Service was very attentive and the dining area was old-school Italian.

Excellent food and BYOB tucked in a small retail strip on 35, can't wait to go back! Stuffed mushrooms were different than most other places with fresh ground homemade sausage and so good!

It's still a good and a solid choice for dinner and still byob but understand they are NOT Italian #vivacolumbia. Most* of their food tastes fresh...but some taste frozen/thaw/reheated...and most dishes *taste* Italian...lol and the still (¿tap?) water tastes like chlorine...#notItalian. We had a great meal here tonight, our first visit. While I think some things were a bit of a miss in regards to flavor, our server, Ron, was outstanding. One thing I really enjoyed was the pace of the meal. It allowed us time to enjoy each others company while never feeling rushed. It's not a "put your whole order in at once" type spot. We ordered: Stuffed Artichoke appetizer (pass) Calamari/Fried Shrimp Assaggini (very good) Chicken Parm (not bad, but could have been a thinner cut of chicken and it would have been outstanding) Broccoli Rabe (good not great) Pappardelle w Vodka sauce (the homemade pasta and sauce were outstanding, best part of the meal) And a stuffed chicken dish over pappardelle which was also outstanding. They seem to have excellent sauces, whether it be red, pink or various white cream sauces. It's a BYOB which is nice and we'll definitely be returning and requesting Ron as our server. He provided great suggestions and I'm excited to try some other items.

3 stars... We were a group of 10 people for our Saturday night get together. Italian food and being a BYOB was definitely our criteria for this month (October). First off, just have to mention that this place is very loud. A few people have said for reviews of this restaurant about the acoustics. I do believe it. It's hard to carry on a conversation with anyone at your table at times. Just my observation. Anyways... Antipasto was shared between the wife & I for our app. Watch those hot peppers on this dish. Caught me by surprise.Main courses for us, Veal Marsala & Rigatoni. Main portions are huge here. Just about everyone had a doggie bag for leftovers. For dessert two cappuccinos, plus a cannoli & orange sorbet capped off our evening. Cost per person with a tip $47. USC#2

The food has always been excellent. The service by the wait staff, also good to excellent. However, the woman who is the owner is rude and obnoxious. A group of 12 people and she is rushing us bc she needs the table! We were drinking, BYOB, spend over $800, and we were rushed. Another time my party of 6 was told to stand outside while we waited for a table. It was raining! Someone needs to send this woman to customer service classes and etiquette training. 5 years ago I gave them 5 stars. They really need to pick themselves back up.

I love this place ! They used to be in Newark . So when I had the opportunity to go with my family I was so excited ! And it's just so delish! They first serve you Bruschetta (yummy)and then we got the Caesar Salad with anchovies and it was perfection . We tried the lentil soup which was also amazing. My father had the Pork Chops and he loved it. My mother had the Penne Vodka with added chicken cutlet and she also loved it ! LOVE THIS PLACE!

This is the third or fourth meal we've had at ADR and each time has been a true dining experience. The service is excellent as well as the food preparation and portion size. The staff has been trained to please the customer in any way possible from wine glasses, adjusting items on the menu or making your experience as pleasant as possible. There was an issue with the online order for pickup through Grubhub (understandable- I get that technical issues happen). The real problem is the lack of interest in resolving the issue by management. I placed a dinner order through Grubhub and got confirmation on it. I went to the restaurant to pick it up and told the manager at the front that I there for an online order. While she went in back, I looked at my email and found that Grubhub had cancelled the order. When she returned I showed her this email - she was very rude and annoyed and had a waitress take over dealing with me as she left in a huff. The waitress was nice and helpful- she put the order in and i left to kill time while they started my order. I returned and was treated rudely by the manager again- was hungry so I paid and left. After all that, the food was mediocre and they are very stingy with bread (three small pieces and one was the heel! We had two dinner orders!). I will not order from here again. Not because of the technical issue but because the manager does not seem to have any concern for customer service or satisfaction. If a patron experiences a problem ordering, even if there is a third party (Grubhub) involved, the manager should try to resolve the issue. Not only did she have no interest in doing so, she was rude! No thanks! Plenty of other options for Italian food out there.

I am new to the area and, as an avid foodie, I was meticulously searching for a nice spot to take my parents to dinner. After a little research and reading through some outstanding reviews for Assaggini Di Roma, we decided to give it a go. I am so happy we did! This restaurant has joined some of my tried and true Italian favorites of Ocean County (looking at you Il Giardinello & Spanos) and will be a regular on rotation for sure. Service was excellent, as was the food. It's BYOB which makes it all the more enjoyable. Everything was very reasonably priced and full of flavor. The bruschetta crostinis you get for the table were delicious and a clear indication of what we were in store for. For apps, we got stuffed mushrooms and the stuffed artichoke. Both were great (esp the mushrooms). For entrees, we did: veal parm, chicken parm, Pappardelle alla Solerno, and the Pappardelle special (light cream sauce, shrimp, mushrooms, asparagus) and every person enjoyed their meal thoroughly. Portions were perfect (even got to enjoy some leftovers) and the post-meal coffees topped it all off. Very much looking forward to our next meal here!!

This was my first time here and I liked everything as soon as I stepped into this restaurant! Our waiter wasn't just nice but also attentive and patient. The food was good and the ambiance was good too! In my opinion, they should take down walls to make the restaurant feel bigger and they should get bigger tables. I recommend eating here! I will be coming back here!

I have to say what a brilliant time and meal. Such a friendly place and the food was amazing. The entertainment was top notch that guy can sing. I got the shrimp and mushroom with pasta and it was awesome. I can't wait to go back. It was a also great appetizers stuffed mushrooms and and the bruschetta was great. Looking forward to going back.

Came here for a baby shower event so the dinner part may be slightly different. Located in a small strip mall and easy to miss but great hole in the wall. Super friendly staff that stayed on top of refills. My one minor complaint is the main waitress took great detailed meal orders but when the food came out the staff was just yelling out orders making it chaotic. There's a main dining area and a side back area that was used for the baby shower. Appetizers were fantastic. Caprese salad with pesto. Calamari (didn't try but people raved). The bread was weirdly incredible. Really. Penne vodka appetizer was super yummy. I had the chicken Francese meal. Delicious chicken. Weirdly came with potatoes and vegetables instead of pasta. Pasta would have been better. The lemon sauce was flavorful. Huge portion. The one complaint the whole table had is the potatoes had a weird strong flavor. We think just lemon juice was poured on them. It was intense and not great. Not sure if it was just lemon on them. Everything else was great.

Was in town visiting family. Went here for dinner, fabulous!! Eggplant wonderful. Their house salad was very good. Homemade Italian dressing. I ordered the Homemade cavatelli with broccoli & Homemade sausage. Fabulous. Hidden gem check them out!

We went as a party of four and everyone enjoyed all the dishes, from the pasta fazool soup to the veal, shrimp, eggplant and chicken dishes and the delicious chocolate cake. The ambiance was comfortable and we got lucky to sit through a live Friday evening performance by Bobby Vale.

Horrible experience! Went on a Sunday to introduce friends to this restaurant since my wife and I live in the area and eat here. We had a waiter "Philip" who had to be one of the most rude and condescending waiters I've experienced in a long long time. PLUS, he had a horrible hacking cough and kept coughing without even a slight attempt at covering his mouth between sentences.... while hovering over our table and food. Absolutely gross. The next day I called to speak with a manager to complain about our experience but he seemed completely unconcerned. The food IS good, but the service and attitude of the staff is horrendous.

While I've eaten there a few times, the food is amazing. As such, I emailed (as no one answered the phone on repeated tries), to ask about a large family get together for my kids graduation (about 12-16 people). No one responded, so I called again about 5 days later and a woman finally answered. She noted kind of rudely "we don't take reservations by email". She took my info and said someone would call me back to go over details. NO ONE called me back! Needless to say, I went elsewhere as I had to book something. Not sure what happened here, but they missed out on revenue with a party. Bad customer service and follow-up on their part.

The food and service were impeccable. Highly, highly recommend. Ambiance was also good. There's also a positive energy about this place.

I had my sister's bridal shower here because they came highly recommended. What a mistake! The owner Dee is beyond rude to not only customers but to her employees. When I came in to look at the venue space and menu she was yelling at her wait staff in front of me, unprofessional to say the least. Regardless I agreed to host my event here and nothing was easy. When I called to confirm headcount a week before they always called me by the wrong name and never seemed to be organized in who was having what at the restaurant. Dee wouldn't let us in early to set up and gave me a hard time because she had to pick up her staff in the morning. When we were setting up she starts yelling at me because I moved tables around to make sense of the room. (Nothing was blocking a fire exit). They rush your event and start cleaning up even before the time is up. I asked for a coffee at the end of the event and I was told "your party is over". Not worth the headache since everything was sub par. The food was just, okay. The salad was dressed too early so by the time we ate, it was saturated in dressing. I'd find another restaurant to host your event before you book this one.

One of my all-time favorite spots! I sure do miss dining here, as they are BYOB and the service is excellent. However, I'll prob be holding off on dining indoors for a bit. That being said, they do a great job with take out. It sometimes takes a few times to get through on the phone, but don't give up! The food is always so fresh and hot when you open it up. You MUST try the chicken parm with vodka sauce- it is out of this world! The chicken Nicole is another fan favorite. They also have an awesome private party room. Love this place!!

At first glance this place is nothing to look at. Hidden from the highway you have to know where you are going. The food was fantastic. Piping hot to the table. The only downside is the noise level. The acoustics are awful. Just normal chatter from the other guests is unbearable at times. Can't even converse across our own table. Once the place emptied out a bit it was much better. Service was impeccable. If it weren't for the noise level this would be 5 star all the way. The red sauce is amazing. Will be back again for sure. BYOB

Fantastic service! Gabriella gave us great recommendations and was friendly and accommodating. This is a cozy Italian spot with a traditional feel, and bring your own which is a plus.

Not bad at all , depends on what you get. The food is fresh but the red sauce hasn't much flavor mostly acidic could use some garlic or basil , parsley, maybe some italian seasoning. Chicken parm is bland as well but passable. Pasta was not al dente but mushy. I dont want to sound harsh but I could not even pull the bread apart. Overall it was decent but nothing exciting. Theres not alot of real Italian in New Jersey, but I would give the other dishes a try and one more chance before giving up !

The restaurant is set in a seen-better-days strip mall off of Rt 35, but it kind of feels like you walk back in time to a throw-back Italian restaurant in Brooklyn once you walk through the door. I was there with our group of 6 on a Friday night and there was a singer there performing Tony Bennett and Sinatra genre songs and playing saxophone. He was really great - a bit loud to be able to talk for where our table was, but the performance was very entertaining. We even were moved to get up and dance to the Mack the Knife and a few other oldies. The food is very good. We started with calamari, shrimp and peppers in a spicy sauce. The calamari was really fantastic, big breaded pieces and so tender. The sauce was very spicy, but worth a little burn. I had an entree from the specials menu with pappardelle pasta which was very good, a white sauce with shrimp and scallops. An excellent dish. Enough for lunch on Saturday too. It was a special and I think it was around $23. I'd definitely go again and try some of the other menu items. Only criticism was the volume of the entertainment and the service was spotty. We had to get up and track down our waitress 2x, once to take our entree order after we were sitting there for 15 minutes with polished off apps, and then again to bring the pork chops that were under cooked back to the kitchen. Seems they were under staffed in the wait staff category. BYOB
